| UPDATE 12/20/10 - Bailey is doing GREAT! He has settled in and become part of the family. He and Max (St. Bernard) have come to an understand of each other...and get along just fine. He and Harlee (the cat) will probably never come to that understanding and still taunt each other for fun!
He is alot of fun and very loveable!!! Happy Holidays 8/28/10 - I was adopted today! 8/10/10 - Our little Bailey Boo is doing so well these last few weeks, on sharing toys and just sharing his space with 4 other dogs. He now also wags his little nubby tail when praised and actually smiles when he does it. I've also found that this boy snores, yup, snores to beat the band....although when he first came, at night I would crate him downstairs, as most of my dogs sleep in my room. But now that Bailey has really earned his way into my group of dogs, he gets to sleep upstairs with everyone else. He would make an awesome commercial for sleep aids..... Bailey continues to learn more about sharing his toys, and his space with my 4 dogs, and I have to tell you that this boy is really a happy boy. The one thing you'll need with him, is lots of toys. He'll share them with you and loves a good game of tug-o-war with ropes. Just so that he knows who's toys they really are, I always end our game with me having possession of the rope, and a few minutes later I will add it to the toy pile so he can finish playing with it alone if he chooses too. 7/26/10 - Hi Everyone just an update on Mr. Bailey Boo. We have had a very busy 2 weeks here, and Bailey has handled it pretty well. It took a few weeks for him to settle in with adding dog # 6 to the pack, but he finally realized he could play with him, and I've added another few pictures of him playing and then sleeping with my Boston (the smaller of the 2) and another with my deaf boy. The three musketeers as I call them. They play the most together. I did have a family picnic this weekend, with 30 people, 3 of which were toddlers, an infant and a 4 year old. I watched him carefully, and he did great, although there isn't a dog around including my own that I would leave alone with any child. Bailey did fine, men, women and children. There really hasn't been anything I haven't been able to do with this boy. Clip his nails, given baths, taken for walks, going for car rides, to the vets he has been fairly active with us. This is a very good boy that deserves a very good home. 7/9/10 - It has been a busy week for Mr. Bailey Boo, and I have to say I'm pretty impressed with this boy. We added another foster dog, and although Bailey did find 6 dogs to be a bit much, he has really handled it pretty well, when you remember he has always been an only dog. When he was the new dog coming in, he was pretty respectful of my dogs....However, when adding the new foster dog, I found that doing very slow introductions thru baby gates and crate it really gave him the time to relax and accept the new more energetic boxer boy. Bailey can and does however play with boy my deaf boxer and my Boston several times a day. He loves to box and is very accomplished at this. He also loves to retrieve tennis balls with the "chuckit". And although he doesn't want the boxers to join that fun, he can and will share with my Boston, and will jump in and out of the doggy pool most of the time so he stays nice and cool. 7/1/10 - It's been a fun-filled week for Bailey, he has learned to "box" with my deaf boy Reese, in fact he will wrestle and box with both Reese (boxer boy, and Molly the Boston Terrier) at the same time, now how is that for talent. He is very playful, and loves interacting with my dogs, Bailey is very good at entertaining himself as well. He can and will play all by himself providing he has toys like solid rubber balls, heavy duty ropes and tennis balls. However be aware he is a strong boy and can really do a job pulling or tearing his toy apart. Bailey does know sit, and paw, but he doesn't understand "down" at all yet, he will come when called with or without treats. Although Bailey doesn't sleep on my bed, he loves his own bed, and he doesn't feel he needs your constant attention, he's just as happy to just hang out on the floor in what ever room you happen to be in. He does love to snuggle on the sofa with you but won't bug you to get up with you every time you sit down to read or relax, and he can be found sometimes sharing a bed with one of the boxers. And he is not a "glue puppy". This is a well adjusted, playful, fun loving boy with no "issues" that I have seen. Bailey has also not had one single accident in the house. I have a swinging screen door that he helps himself out and onto the deck then down into the fenced yard he goes, with or without the other dogs. 6/23/10 - We have had Bailey for a few days now, and he has started to initiate play with my deaf white boxer boy. Bailey does a play bow and actually bounces a little, snuffling sounds made from his nose and boxing just like the boxers. The two played in my carpeted room like pro's. This boy, having never been exposed to a lot of dogs, really seems to be doing well in a pack of 5, although I think he'd be just as happy being an only dog or with another more submissive dog. He can be a bit possessive of his toys with the other dogs. He hasn't figured out how to share the fun with another dog, but he will be more than happy to share his toy and fun with you. He loves to fetch and, although he brings it back to you, he doesn't always drop it unless you have another to throw for him right away. His favorite toys seem to be ropes, tennis balls, and hard rubber balls and rubber bones. As I mentioned before too, this boy loves water. I have a doggy pool, and Bailey loves to run and jump in it, dig in the water, splash, and actually will burrow his face under water and blow bubbles. He loves to jump in after he has chased the boxers around the yard. He loves a good run and a cool pool afterwards. 6/7/10 - Bailey has made his way to his "real" foster home now. We can't stress enough how great this little guy is. If someone, like ourselves, is looking for a great lap dog, basically maintenance free, and loving, this lil guy is yours. He's a real love. 6/5/10 - Bailey is an owner surrender who has lived with young children and a cat. Although he wasn't raised with other dogs, he is a good boy and, as you can see, he was very happy to explore my yard with 2 of my dogs, my older boxer girl (white) and my Boston Terrier girl. He is housebroken and leash trained and LOVES to go for walks and car rides. Bailey too loves the water, I can just picture him on a jet ski, he'd be in heaven. |
