| UPDATE 5/18/09 - Otis is not a boxer, he is a pug!!
We just love Otis!!! He is a joy to have and makes us laugh everyday. We have had Otis for two months now and we have had no problems with him. His health is great; We have been giving him weekly baths and that has helped with his skin conditions. Otis loves to go for car rides! Everyweek we take him to our farm and he loves to run and play! Otis loves the horses and the little kitties! He gets along good with other dogs and other animals. Otis also loves to go for walks. When you ask him if he wants to go for a walk, he jumps right up and is ready to go no matter if he was wide awake or sleeping. We love our pug!! UPDATE 4/19/09 - Otis is a black pug, not a boxer. He has adjusted very well to our home. He loves to play, sleep , and eat. He loves to eat fruit, which I have never scene in other dogs?? He is extremely hairy for such a small dog!!!!! When he pees he will do a handstand, I believe he is trying to pee higher on the trees to be like the other bigger dogs in the neighborhood. He loves to go for rides in the car. He is definitely a "people person" dog, as he will follow us around the house or outside rather than stay by himself. We bought him a dog bed, and he now WILL NOT lay down anywhere without it!!! So far, so good. Otis has been the perfect village dog. His health is great, we have had no problems at all with him, and he seems very happy here. 3/18/09 - Otis has been adopted! 1/22/09 - Otis is quite the little ham. When he needs to go outside he comes up to me and starts to bark and run in circles. I can't believe he is going to be 6 in just a couple of weeks. Otis has a few choice toys that he likes to play with. He prefers his stuffed mouse that came here with him. Otis will also play fetch. It's really funny when he plays fetch with the other dogs around. If Otis thinks one of the other dogs is going to take his toy he runs as fast as his little legs will take him right into his crate. What he doesn't realize is that they can come in his crate and get his toy anyways. We have gone at least 2 weeks without bathing Otis with his special shampoo and he still smells good. His collar still stays off when he is in the house and I believe that helps. When Otis sees his collar he gets all excited and can barely sit still because he knows he gets to go outside. Otis likes to take car rides as well. This little boy is such a joy to have around and is waiting for his forever home. 12/15/08 - Otis is continuing to do very well here at his foster home. He went to the vets this past week and he is all up to date with his shots. Otis will also be getting neutered on the 18th. The vet said that Otis does not have a skin infection. Since Otis has these skin folds under his chin whenever he drinks it gets all wet. We have to keep his collar off of him while he is in the house to allow the skin folds drying time. The vet also gave us some special shampoo and asked us to bath him 1-2 times a week. Otis got a bath with the Chlorhexiderm shampoo this past Wednesday and he still smells good. This little guy can't wait to find his forever home. 12/6/08 - Otis has been with us for a week now. He is a 5 year old black Pug. Otis gets along with adults as well as children of all ages. He also gets along with dogs and cats. Otis will be going to the vet this coming Tuesday to get up to date on his shots. We will be discussing him getting neutered at that appointment. Otis was given up because of a skin condition. Whenever the little guy gets a drink his skin folds under his chin get wet and I think the moisture is causing an infection. We will be addressing this as well at his vet appointment. Otis is housebroken, crate trained, and walks very well on a leash. Otis also knows the majority of the basic commands. The only thing he won't do is lay down on command. It's really quite funny to watch Otis use the bathroom. When he uses the bathroom he will stand on his front 2 paws (just like a handstand) like he's trying to mark his spot higher on the tree. I've given Otis 2 bathes since he's been here to help alleviate some of the smell from the skin infection and he doesn't seem to mind it much. However when it's time to dry off he things he is a bull and charges the towel. Otis is a very sweet little guy and would make a great addition to any family. |
