01/20/14 - This weekend Tyrone, two of my girls and I went on a three day get-away to a friend's lake front cottage. Saturday was our semi annual pizza/wing party with the owners of the property. They brought their 4 yr old great grandson and a couple other members of their family..all dog lovers they really enjoyed Tyrone and thought he was beautiful, and a good boy. Upon arrival he greeted them well and was great with the 4 yr old. He really impressed all who attended. Once in the cottage he settled right in and acted as if he had vacationed there before. He helped himself to the couch and took his pick of bedrooms by jumping on each bed and finally laying down on the one he wanted. Even though the weather was cold, windy and snowing the three of them would go out and tear around the yard, chasing and playing. They are so funny to watch, and he just loves playing outside. 01/02/14 - Well the holidays have come and gone. Ty must have been a good boy because Santa brought him a new soccer ball. It's his favorite toy, but he hasn't been able to play with it much, due to our very cold and nasty weather. He will have to settle for his many tennis balls until it warms up a bit. We found it's best we let him play outside with his soccer ball. He has settled in quit well with us. Since being neutered he has stopped marking in the house. He does drink a lot of water so we let him out more often so as not to have any accidents. He is very sweet and gentle and craves attention, but at times will get wound up. He will calm down if told to. He has not adjusted well to being crated. It's a work in progress by taking small steps, but he does very well being left alone out of crate and in the company of our girls. We haven't quite figured out him and the cat yet. Kitty cat wants to be his friend but Ty seams to want to be a bit too rough with him. He is very curious, but we are making him keep his distance for now. 12/10/13 - Mr Wiggly Butt is doing great after his neuter last week. Being a predominantly outside dog he is adjusting very well to living indoors, except the crate training part, but we will continue to work on that. He loves hanging out and playing with his foster sisters, running and chasing after them when they steal toys from him, especially when they go out in the yard. I did however witness him climbing almost all the way over our 5 ft chain link gate to chase kitty cat, so I'm not quite sure if he is ok with cats or not...sometimes he chases after him and other times he ignores him both indoors and out. I did observe him at his previous home getting along wonderfully with the two cats they had. He loves being given attention and has figured out that the couch is for him to hang out on and he knows if forster family is sitting there he can try to sneak up on their laps and try to give kisses. Hes trying very hard to please us and he's doing a wonderful job. 11/25/13 - Ty has been with us for a week now. He is a very sweet boy. He is a blast when we go outside to run and play. He loves his soccer and tennis balls the most...just so comical. He needs training, but seems to listen and pick up on things easily. Today was the first day I left him alone when I went to work, until everyone else got up. He did very well. Nothing was disturbed. I am going to wait a few more days to see how he does in a crate. I know he does counter surf, but unfortunately for him we know not to leave anything where he is able to get himself into trouble. At this point he doesn't seem interested in getting on the furniture unless its to try to sit on your lap and give kisses...but that is very hard for him to do because he can't stop his butt from wiggling so much. 11/20/13 - Ty (Ty Rone) was picked up yesterday, owner surrender. He is 5 yrs old and extremely happy. He gets along great with other dogs, cats and children. He is trying to settle in and get used to the routine with his foster family but seems a bit anxious. He has calmed down and is snoring this very minute. Another update on this beautiful boy soon |
