04/12/13 - Mason went to the Bridge today he was wagging his tail to the end. It turned out that Mason had a growth in his pelvis that was obstructing his colon. 01/13/13 - Its been smooth sailing here in Western NY with Mason since his return. Mason is doing a great job keeping us on schedule with his feeding times, treat times, and peanut butter pill times. Mason would do best in a peaceful home as an only dog with a stay at home mom or dad that likes to go for neighborhood walks, he does get stressed if left home alone for too long. 12/20/12 - Mason has been returned to rescue. Mason’s new family was very sad to return him to rescue to find another home. He just did not want to share his home with their other dog. Though Mason has been fine with other dogs visiting or that he visits, he now will need to be the only dog in his new home. 12/14/12 - Mason has been adopted! 10/22/12 - Mason is still kicking it here with us in Western NY and seems to be enjoying his stay. We have been out to a few big family parties and he loves to get out to see all of the people and his fur buddies however he does tend to get tired if we are out too long. Mason seems to want to play with all the other furry guys and gals around the neighborhood, there is some show barking occasionally when on leash when restrained from greeting. Mason likes to bark to get attention or to let you know he needs some help getting his peanut butter and medication treat "water or outside" which is good for me some days when I am forgetting the time. I can also guarantee that you will never forget to go for an evening walk. 10/03/12 - Mason is a nut job! He is jumping around on my mothers bed right now. I didn't even let him know I caught him, he was bouncing around for at least 5 minutes. "It's comical" is all I thought, he has been trying to take over her bed tonight. 09/23/12 - Mason had a great day today with my sisters pup coming over. Both dogs were running around like puppies, its amazing the energy this guy still puts out. We seem to be at a good point with Masons thyroid meds giving him one .5mg in the morning and a half pill in the evening on a quarter of a burrito shell with some peanut butter. The shell and peanut butter makes this a big treat time so we could not forget to give him his meds if we wanted too as Mason knows his schedule and reminds us if we forget. We have been working on some hand commands and this boy is quick to act as long as you have a treat in hand, and he is sure to check to make sure you do. Mom has had a bit of an issue as she was letting Mason tell her when he wanted treats and lets say he got a little out of hand, I have since retrained her not to listen to his commands so things are getting back to normal. All in all things are going smoothly, Mason is happy and healthy and as good of a house guest as there could be. 07/13/12 - Mason continues to do well here and there is no more signs of separation anxiety so it looks like he just needed to adjust to his big change. His new nic-name is MR. Happy because if he is not napping he is just excited to be anywhere we are. Mason is a bit of a talker at times especially if he thinks he deserves a treat and he is feeling spunky. We do not use the crate at all with Mason as he was not happy at all staying in the crate and it enhanced his anxiety + he never has done harm to anything in the house. New photos in his slide show so go have a look. 06/18/12 - Mason has settled right in and has run of the house when we are not home Mason does use the only piece of furniture he is not allowed on while we are gone though. I have noticed increased energy level and he has lost some weight. This guy has some spunk left in him. 06/10/12 - Mason is doing great! I can only imagine this old boy was terrified with the upheaval in his life and relocation to our home. This boy is as happy as can be now and has become much more comfortable with sitting next to us and getting attention. He has staked out his couch location and if not by your side can be found there. I have seen some happy crazy boxer play running around that made me worry that this old boy was over doing it but he pulls it in before any self injury. Mason would be happiest with a stay at home mom or dad or better yet both as he has some issues with separation anxiety during his 2 hours stints home alone during the week. 06/03/12 - Mason likes to hang with his people and likes to be petted to a point, but he does not like to feel crowded. He will sit near you but not right next to you and if you bother him too much he will move away just out of reach. He is a nice guy and slow but will have happy bursts of energy at times for greeting and barking at the mailman. |

| Here is some background info on Mason Mason was originally adopted from us in December 2002 and after almost 10 years he was surrendered back to rescue to find another home. His owner was devastated as her husband died and then she ended up losing her home. She was very upset that she could not take him with her. Mason has hypothyroidism and is currently taking medicine for it. He is said to be great with kids of all ages and is a very nice boy! Mostly deaf Mason seems to sometimes hear load noises or just may be responding to vibration, but from what I can tell, he hears nothing, and to get his attention I must touch him. |
