02/01/13 - Cooper is having some major behavioral issues and is not currently available for adoption. 01/13/13 - Cooper continues to do well at his foster home. He Is getting along with all the girl dogs and quite often, I will find him snuggled up to one or two at a time. He likes to be right in the middle of the pile and doesn't mind being the pillow at all. He is caged during the work day and has no problem going into his crate at anytime. He will beat you there for sure if he knows that you have something special for him. He loves his food and will do anything for a treat. This makes Cooper very trainable because he is so motivated by a treat. Cooper was hoping to get to his new family for Christmas but he knows that the perfect match for him is out there. He loves to run and play in the backyard. When we had so much snow, Cooper was like hidden in the white of the snow. He absolutely loved it after he figured out what it was all about. Cooper loves his foster parents and that seems to be what is important to him. He always wants to be a part of whatever is going on. His foster dad has been working on a few home projects and Cooper always has to get his head in there to see what is going on. It is too funny to watch. He is a very big helper. Cooper loves to play and he would make any family complete with just making him part of your family. He will grow into a dedicated pet that will never leave your side. Any effort that you put into Cooper will be so worth it. He will love you forever. Cooper will benefit from attending obedience with his new owners. He really wants to please so I believe that he will be happy to show you what he knows. Cooper is very young and will only get better with age. He sometime behaves like such a young puppy but he has this beautiful huge body and head. His size can make you think that he is older than he is. With a little effort, you will be able to make Cooper into the boxer boy that you want him to be. 12/09/12 - Cooper has been at his foster home for a few weeks now and he seems to be settling down a bit and doing well with the routine at his foster home. He is still a young boxer boy and still full of puppy behavior except that he looks like he is an adult dog due to his large size. He still has lots and lots of energy but he does sleep really well at night as when he is awake, he is on the move. He is at the stage in his life that he is just like an out of control teenager. He loves the toys out of the toy boxes and I think that he finds it funny that I pick them up and it is only seconds and he is getting them all out again. He will bark if another dog has a toy that he wants. He doesn't give up easily. Cooper has some obedience commands under his belt and he is very happy to perform them for a treat. He loves food and I believe that you could train him to do any command just because of the reward. Cooper did live with some teenagers in his previous home but I believe that he is too rough for young children. Cooper spends the work day in a crate which he really doesn't mind. We give him a saucer that you fill with kibbled food or small treats and then he has to work on it to get the treats out. Keeps him busy for a little bit and all my other dogs are very jealous that he gets the treats and they don't. I have also given him a frozen peanut butter filled marrow bone which he also just loves. This boy loves food. Cooper is fed in a room all by himself so that we don't get into him worrying about his food bowl and have a dog fight perhaps like what was happening in his previous home. On the same note, when treats are handed out, he always is last and we are working on the "Nothing in life is free Cooper" plan so he has to do a command that we ask before being rewarded. We have had no problems since the first week. Cooper would be perfect for an active family as that is what seems to be important to him. He loves his people and wants to be included in everything. He will need to be kept active. A happy boxer is a tired boxer. He is very trainable. You ust can't help but fall in love with him but he will need to be kept on a tight regimen and his owners need to be strong leaders because he is very smart and will think he is top dog and that is what he doesn't need. Cooper loves to snuggle at any opportunity that comes along. He really does want to please. Cooper would be okay as an only dog and perhaps just one other dog that is not too dominant. Cooper would love to be "home for the holidays". Please consider adopting him, you will be rewarded with lots and lots of tail wags and tons of kisses. 11/11/12 - Cooper has arrived at his foster home. Cooper is a 10 month old BIG white deaf boy. He really is cute and has one blue eye. He seems happy and is always wagging his tail. He was an owner surrender and it was a hard decision to have him enter rescue but they felt they had tried everything possible to make it work. Cooper and the other dog were having fights which were related to food. He has met all the girls from the foster home and that has been going pretty well. Our queen bee has let him know that she rules the roost and there is no changing her mind. He has been a little busy since arriving but he was much calmer today than yesterday. I think he had nervous energy. He is eating well and he knows quite a few hand signals that he is so happy to perform for a treat. He is very food orientated so he is a pretty quick learner. Cooper had attended training classes and the previous family told me that he would do anything for a treat. Today, he found the recycling box and feels that it is a toy box. He loves empty plastic bottles. He brings them in the house and then into the backyard which is fenced. He has explored every inch of the backyard. More to come as we get to know him better. |
