| 07/18/12 - Zena went to the bridge today..I swear she hugged me before she left..I felt a wave of relief from her...she tightened then relaxed eternally in my arms..She sent the biggest waves of thanks in all directions... 07/08/12 - Zena has been such the little love bug! After her recent trip to her doctor she has been evaluated and seems quite healthy for a girl her age. Her dental limitation has been addressed with a once daily dose of pain medication. Every morning we soak her dry food in water for about a half an hour to soften it up, then add the liquid medication, and she eats it all up! After the first dose she appeared the have a little more energy and less drooling! Due to how severe Zena's teeth have become, we were told she will need to be on this medication for life for pain management. The cost of this is about fifty dollars a month. Zena was pre-screened to be a candidate for this medication with blood work which will be good for another 6 months! Her blood work was within normal limits. Her activity has been raised to include daily wading on the lake by our house due to all this recent warm weather! She will stand chest deep in the water and wait for her house mates to join her before she splashes everyone. Every day she does something to make me smile, whether it be a wiggle or a nudge to be petted. Zena is comfortable and needs a forever home to live out that comfortable life! 05/17/12 - Zena has settled in well. Every day Zena requests her walks when I'm home from work, or early in the morning (if I have the day off). What I have to admire most about Zena is the excitement on her face when I return home. She does the ever famous boxer wiggle and gets her whole body into it! .I have been feeding her only moistened food due to her dental limitations. She gobbles this right up and loves her soft doggy treats! Zena has become a laid back kind of girl, and her attitude is so positive, kind, and caring. Her pictures don't do her eyes justice, they always seem to be swelled up with love. I have introduced her to many of my friends and neighbors and each of them agree she is a strong and sweet lady. Even they were impressed by some of the speeds we saw her top out on while running! One thing I noticed about Zena, (with my boxer boys), was her place as the peace keeper. If the boxer boys begin to play-fight, she will get in the middle of it and whine and huff and puff until they stop. If you need a peace keeper in your home, Zena is the one for the job! 04/27/12 - Zena is a super sweet lady. Her loyalty lies with anyone who gives her attention. She wakes me up every morning with a few snorts and sneezes!!! Zena allowed me to bathe her and give her a nail trim without any fuss within the first two days in foster care! She stays right by my side and loves her long walks. Yes, she is slow, but with my other two boxer boys pressing her, she catches right up! My boxer boys love her and she follows them everywhere. Surprisingly, (when she wants to), Zena can run as fast as my 2 year old boxer!! She is very polite and only barks when the other two boys bark. She never needs a crate, as soon as I leave she pops in bed and sleeps! She doesn't mind our cat either, they go nose to nose and that's it! She is a genuinely lovely lady. 04/15/12 - Zena arrived into foster care. We will update as we get to know this beautiful girl. |
