Return to SCBR Home
05/15/12-Today was a very sad day in SCBR as Goliath had to be sent to the Rainbow Bridge.  After many discussions in rescue and with the agreement of his vet and vet tech experienced with aggressive dogs, it was decided Goliath was too unpredictable to be safely placed in another home.  His foster Dad did everything he could to socialize him and work through Goliath’s issues, but Goliath just had too many internal demons he could not overcome.

05/06/12 -
Goliath is not currently available for adoption as he has been exhibiting some aggression issues that need further evaluation.

Goliath has done great this weekend.  The first where we had a number of different people coming over to our house, and he seems to be especially fond of the kids. He only showed his fear reactions with my old scary aunt and we all could understand that but he still quickly got past his initial fear, and was as happy as could be, after we set my aunt straight on how to act. My niece Rebecca is just in love with this guy and mentioned that he came in a few times during the night to check up on her and kiss her face.

Goliath is doing great at home with us and is just loving everyone he has learned to trust. This boy is a big lover but does take time to warm up to people "on his own time table". Goliath continues to sleep in my room and is happy if he can follow me everywhere I go. Also this boy will now load up on command into his crate with just a little coaxing and the promise of a treat on the inside he even relaxes while inside. Goliath prefers to be walked rather than being in the yard. Keep you eyes out for the new photos I will be posting.

Goliath stands tall with his name, he is a nice but nervous boy and did not seem to want to eat  until  I scraped the food he came with and fed him our Nutro "Rice and Lamb large breed" this was gone in seconds.  He is a little  whiny  today and pacing out of nervousness but wags his nub any time you pay notice to him.  Goliath slept on my bedroom floor last night with no issues and did his short stint "2 hours" in the crate this morning which seems to have gone well. More to come as soon as we know more about this nice and timid big boy.

Here is some background info on Goliath:
Goliath was an owner surrender as his family felt he was too protective of them and their house.  With 3 young kids they always had lots of people coming and going.  He nipped at one adult visitor, did not bite, but they were not willing to work with him to be more socialized.  Due to this lack of socialization and that he does show some dominant behaviors at times when he doesn’t want to do something (ex: go in his crate), we are looking for a quieter type of a home without kids or a lot of visitors.
