UPDATE 2/10/12 -  Ramsey is doing exceptionally well. She was great with the long ride home on Saturday from her foster home. We stopped a number of times so she could stretch her legs and have a potty break. At one of the rest areas she met another dog and was wonderful with him. We arrived home just befor 7 PM and she met my other two dogs Wolf and Radar. They are getting along and actually playing together. She seems to be enjoying the country life and she is very curious about the woods and all the nosies in them. She is getting better on the leash. While she still pulls at times there is a lot of improvement in just this first week. She was very interested in my cockatiel on Saturday night but has not bothered him at all. Now she seems to be used to his chirping and singing. She is a genuine velcro dog and wants to be with you at all times. She prefers laying next to you with her head on your leg and sometimes lays right across your lap. She also prefers to sleep in the bed with me at n ight and sleeps straight through till morning. She is not a morning dog and does not like rising at 5:30 but I am sure she will adjust to the schedule. She is a joy and very sweet. She is reactive to trucks but we are working on it. The trainer from Canine Invisible Fence will be coming on Feb. 22nd for her first lesson so I can get her on the fence. There will be three more fence training sessions one week apart and then she should be all ready to be off leash in the yard and running free with her two siblings. I also contacted a trainer in Conneticut and we will be starting obedience training in the third week of Feb. Once I have gone for our first lesson I will forward all the paperwork to the group. I can't tell you how happy I am to have Ramsey in my life. She is a wonderful addition to our family and a true joy. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for placing her with me she is a perfect fit.

2/4/12 - Ramsey has been adopted!

01/01/12 -
Ramsey has been with us for 2 weeks now. She has adjusted quickly and is very comfortable with the cats (no chasing has occurred for over a week!) and she is no longer shy with her foster Dad. We have had company at the house over the Holidays and she has been very friendly to everyone big and small! Ramsey had a trip to the vets last week to get her shots updated. Ramsey was the perfect patient! She was very friendly to the people in the waiting room and respectful to the other dogs and cat that were waiting their turn to see the vet too. The Vet was very impressed with Ramsey and her terrific disposition even when "ouchy" things had to be done.  As Ramsey has gotten more comfortable in her surroundings here we have come across a couple things that we have had to work on. She had started barking at the window where she could see cars go by our house. We have been working to correct this behavior with a squirt water bottle and a firm "No". Consistency is the key but she has made a great deal of improvement over the past week. Ramsey finds the garbage truck and other big trucks intimidating and barks when she sees them go by or stop. I first noticed her reaction to big trucks when she was riding in the car and we passed a tractor trailer truck on the highway she appeared to get a little nervous. She does not bark at them in the car but she does tense up when she sees them. When going on walks around the neighborhood Ramsey does tend to pull and she has on occasion lunged at cars that go by. With proper obedience training she will easily stop these behaviors . Ramsey is such a smart, lovable, huggable girl. She will make a wonderful addition to someone's family. I couldn't think of a better way to start the New Year than by adopting this wonderful girl!

Ramsey is continuing to adjust to life here in her foster home. She is getting along very well with our dog Izzy and is getting used to having cats around. I think she will do best in a home with cats that are used to dogs. The cats she is currently residing with are very familiar with dogs and are not intimidated by them. She is learning her manners with them and is not at all aggressive toward them.   Ramsey is still a little shy with her foster Dad. He is a big guy with a deeper voice and so it is taking her a little time to get used to him. Although today she discovered he had some tasty treats in his pocket when she went over to him and put her head on his lap. Ramsey adores our 9 year old daughter and wiggles all over when she comes home from school.   Ramsey is not at all a fan of being crated. In fact we haven't made much progress with that. She seems very scared by it. It really isn't an issue because she is completely housetrained! She can be left with free range of the house. I do keep her gated to our dining room and hallway when we leave the house and she has been perfectly content with that.   Ramsey is a wonderful dog. She will melt your heart when she puts her head on your lap and looks up at you with her big brown eyes. You just can't help but give her a big hug and a smooch when she does that and boy does she love hugs!!

Ramsey has arrived and what an absolute doll she is!!   She is so sweet and calm considering she is in new surroundings. Both my dog and Ramsey were "only dogs" but they are quickly getting used to sharing attention and space.  Ramsey is great around kids ( she has been around a toddler) and she and my 9 year old daughter have become good buddies.  She will whine a little when she wants to go out to do her business.  She has seen my cats and was actually close enough to sniff one and she was not at all aggressive toward them.  Ramsey rides very well in the car and  settles in quickly to enjoy the ride!   This lovely owner surrender will make a truly wonderful family dog!  I suspect she will not be available for very long!!   She is not microchipped, but does have a tatoo.  I will update more as we get to know her.
