| 3/10/10 - I just can’t say enough about this wonderful “Senior”, he is so good in the car & loves to go with me on my errands. No barking when he sees other dogs or people and accepts special treats with gratitude. At home he loves company and will play until you tire out!
When he gets a new toy he is so surprised but will gladly share with anyone. Getting much better at heeling now that the weather is nicer for walks, he has to be reminded that he is heeling but will settle down after a few minutes. I just can’t understand why he is still here and not in a forever home, he deserves it soooo much! 2/8/10 - Tagger has been here now since July and I can’t understand why he hasn’t been adopted yet! He is just the greatest dog, hardly any care and he absorbs all the attention he can get. I just love it if I’m gone from the house and return, what a greeting I get! No jumping, just “hello’s” and hand licks, he greets anyone that comes the same way, and speaking of that, he loves company! Just a week ago he had his skin tag removed from his “rump” and what a good patient he is, I caught him attempting to lick his sutures once and told him “no” and I haven’t seen him try it again. The reason we had it removed is because it was looking a little nasty and growing a little. He would like to be a counter surfer but that may over now as he is a really fast learner. And he would also like to be a couch potato but is not allowed on the furniture, it’s funny because he will get up there when I’m out of the room and stand there and look at me as if to say “see me” and then will jump down. He has a comfortable bed in front of the wood stove that he does use a lot and goes right in the crate at night with a cookie of course. So hurry up and get that app in for this great boy, HE IS WAITING! 12/19/09 - I don’t know when it happened…it was so gradual that I didn’t notice! All of a sudden Tagger wasn’t tilting his head anymore. Nor bumping into door frames! He also has no problem going up and down stairs anymore, in fact his right eye looks normal, all he needs now is a forever home to call his own. We will never know what trauma this boy has been through, perhaps it’s a good thing, if he hadn’t had rescue to love him he would still be wandering on the streets of a city looking for a warm place to sleep. Speaking of sleeping, his favorite place is on his bed in front of the warm wood stove, that is, until he has to get up and retire in his crate for the night. He would rather not go out for “last outs” especially since it’s gotten a lot colder, would you want to be woke up only to have to go out in the cold? Me neither, but he’s fine with it in the morning and a nice treat after. He’s waiting patiently for that phone call that will give him a forever home…CALL NOW! He definitely deserves it! 11/30/09 - Tagger continues to amaze me, he just loves it when lots of people come, greets everyone with a kidney bean dance and licks on the hands. He loves to ride in the car, and it’s more fun when FM goes to a bank and he gets treats. He has picked out a couple toys that he enjoys to have thrown so he can retrieve and play tug-of-war. He know when it’s time to go in the crate at night and makes sure that I have a couple “cookies” in my hand for when he goes in, I remember the time when I had to put the leash on him and lead him to the crate, those days are no more. He just told me today that he has a Christmas wish…he would love a forever family for Christmas. This boy deserves to be with a family so get your call in now! 10/12/09 - Tagger here, I would like to take a moment to tell you what a good time I’m having here! I just love it when people come to visit, they play with me and scratch my back and oh, so many, different smells! They even give me treats sometimes. I think “food time” is the best! I will sit patiently while my food is prepared. I do like a little water in with it as it makes it easier to eat. When foster Mom says “ok”, I head to my dish in a hurry! She says my eyes melt her heart, what does that mean? Now that it’s getting cooler, when I go outside, I don’t stay very long. I do my “business” and head right back to the door. I don’t really “ask” to go out but foster Mom seems to know that, after I eat, I need to go. She says that I’m a couch potato and that the “Seniors” are the best…I don’t know what that means either, but I do like my naps! I would love to go to what she calls a Forever Home so I can be the pampered pooch that I deserve to be. Please call and ask about me! 9/14/09 - I just took Tagger for a short ride to the Vet for a weight and he is up to 62.2#! I would say he is at a perfect weight. He is learning to heel nicely & sit & stay, but he is a big “cry baby”, in that if he thinks he should not be in the crate or come in from outside when he wants, he will “cry”, not a loud cry, just enough to let you know he’s not happy about the current situation. He still likes to chase Kitty but the feline has learned to keep out of his sight. Tagger is a real couch/bed potato but he will alert you if someone comes to the door. His head shyness is getting a little better also. This boy is soooo willing to please it just melts your heart to see his sideways stare, better call now if you want a “lover”! 8/13/09 - Tagger is a very special boy, even with the paralysis of the right side of his face and the possible loss of sight in his right eye he gets around really good. He does bump into things and stumbles a little but he is learning to heel without tripping his foster mom. He is getting along well with the resident dog and cat because, for the most part, he ignores them. The Vet has said that no meds are needed for his heart murmur, but I have noticed that he seems to tire easily. He is finally getting a few needed pounds on with the help of some “special” food. I’m going to drop in at the Vet's and have him weighed again soon. This boy has gotten used to going in the crate but the only noise you hear from him is a very quiet cry/whimper. He is waiting for a call so he can go to his forever home! Call now! 7/26/09 - Tagger joined us in Foster on July 16th, he is a very lonely and thin boy. He was picked up as a stray around Buffalo, NY so we don’t know a lot about him except he just loves any kind of affection that you can give to him. I am working on putting a few pounds on him with some special goodies. The cat issue is confusing as sometimes he would like to chase the cat and other times he just ignores him, there was one time that the cat let out quite a loud meow and Tagger looked guilty but everything was alright. I have not had him with the resident terrier for any length of time but in passing they are fine. He does know a few basic obedience commands but needs a little work on the heel. Stay tuned for the latest updates on Tagger (oh, the reason I named him Tagger is because of a skin tag on his rump). |
