MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY HANUKKAH, HAPPY KWAANSA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Love, Sophie :))
Well, here I am here at Lil Bit of Boxer Heaven (fancy name for my foster mom's house lol) and I am just loving it-but!!!!!!!!!  my forever mom and dad are out there searching for me and they must be very sad because they haven't found me yet!!  Foster mom tells me every day that she just KNOWS they are out there somewhere!!  Maybe it's just a new forever dad, or a new forever mom-or some folks who have a nice quiet house where I could be the queen?  How's that sound?  I would love it!!  So, if you're looking for a gorgeous boxer girl who knows her stuff, that's me!! Look no further!!!  Make that phone call!!!  Don't let me be snapped up by another lucky family-I could be YOURS!!  Just think of all you'd be missing if you don't grab me up-I'm house-trained, I'm crate-trained, I LOVE napping, I LOVE to play in the yard, I eat all my food every single time!! and I just love love love snuggling!  Sooooooooo, I see no reason not to give that phone a ringy-ding-a-lingy and adopt ME!!!!!!!!!!  Thanks for listening, going for a snooze now!   Byeeeeeeeeee, Sophie

10/20/09 - Hi everyone! Sophie here!  I figured I better write myself since foster mom has been very remiss in keeping up with my glowing profile :))
It's really fun here!  I get a LOT of one on one attention and I LOVE that!!  Personally, I see no reason for all those other dogs who are here, but foster mom seems to like them, so I have to be tolerant.  And I am, really!  As long as they stay in their crates or on the other side of a fence or gate, I am A-OK with that!
I LOVE the toys here now.  At first, I couldn't care less about them but then, a whole bunch of stuffies showed up AND two balls that Aunt Liz brought us.  They tell me they are called bowling balls for the "pibble".  Haven't a clue about that, but I do love those darned balls-can't seem to get them in my crate, but they're great fun in the yard lol
So, my ideal family would be one where I could be queen of the roost.  I do enjoy being doted on :)) and I am so cute, it's hard not to do that!!  Come and meet me, you'll see!!  Foster mom says that I can stay as long as I need to, but between you and me, I am ready to move on and find my real family!! Shhhhh, don't tell her, she's a bit sensitive ;)
     Sophie, signing off now.

7/27/09 -
Sophie continues to do very well here in fosterland, but she is wondering where her REAL mom and/or dad are?  She knows they must be out there, just waiting to find her.
Sophie is a wonderful, petite boxer girl.  She needs to be the only dog in her new home but here, with all the other dogs who live and visit, she is doing a good job of not over-reacting and listening when she is told to 'back off" and leave the other dogs alone.  We rotate Sophie in and out of her crate and allow her to have contact with the other dogs over a fence or through their crates in the hope of desensitizing her to them. She is improving daily!  She can now be loose in the house with other dogs just on the other side of a small fence and she runs past, plays next to them and stops and has a sniff with no attempt to escalate into more negative behavior.
Sophie walks well with a harness and responds to correction while on lead. We do not approach other dogs on the street as Sophie is very protective and has not learned, yet, to let her human protect HER.  She loves, loves, loves people; she just takes a little while to warm up to someone new.  Once she knows you are a friend, she can't give you enough kisses.  She has the energy of a 2year old but the dignity of an older dog along with it. She is totally crate trained, house trained and an overall lovely mature girl :))  She would love to come home with you!!!

- Sophie has come back into rescue-due to no fault of her own.  She has settled right back in!  She remembered the doggie door and used it immediately.  She has had her dinner and made the rounds greeting the resident furkids (through their crates, Sophie doesn't play well with furry friends).  Now she is resting in her crate, very quietly.  She went in very willingly - maybe it still smells like home lol
She was VERY interested in the two puppies I have here and was just sitting staring into their crate, from a safe distance lol-they are up on top of a piece of furniture to keep them safe but it's almost at eye level for the dogs and they all seem to love to just watch them.  My dogs got used to puppies when Bahama Mama was here, but I don't know if Sophie has ever been around pups, unless maybe her very own.
Sophie pulls on the leash if a regular collar is used, so I use my Lupi harness on her and it is much better.  She remembered very quickly that Aunt Dee doesn't like to have her arms yanked out-makes her a bit testy. Took about 5 minutes and we were walking along without an issue.
Sophie is a very sweet girl and very pretty. She wants to be the one and only in your heart-so a home with no other animals is what our Sophie needs and she will spend all her time loving her new family!
     Welcome back Sophie girl!!

UPDATE 5/31/09 - Things are going well here almost all round, with a few sore spots.  Sophie is getting used to walking on leash and for the most part has learned to heel.  We are also learning “sit-stay,” "down,", and "off" (the hardest, natch).  One problem we have is that Sophie does not know how to approach other dogs while on leash; it can turn unpleasant.  Sophie gets rather aggressive and jumps up on the other dog or swats it with her paw.  For the time being, we are staying away from other dogs (which can be a bit of a struggle, as my arms and shoulder can attest). Today, she also growled at a woman who was petting her.  Tomorrow night, the "Prospect Park Dog Whisperer" (www.tyrilfrith.com) is coming to the evaluate her and begin training.
I have also walked Sophie together with two friends’ dogs from time to time, so she can get used to the idea of being with other dogs on the leash. We have had mixed results.
We have been to the vet.  Sophie had an ear infection, which appears to have cleared up. She also has constant loose stool, which at first the vet thought might be the result of Sophie’s being on antibiotics after her spay.  I took in a stool sample yesterday to get her checked for parasites, giardia, etc.
Sophie got a new bed, and she loves it.  She passed up sleeping in my bed last night for her own. She counter-surfs every couple of days but oddly enough does not eat what she catches.  She got hold of a bag of peanut-butter biscuits, which she scattered on the floor but did not eat.  The other day, she fancied a sealed pound bag of coffee, which thankfully she did not open.
In the house, she is a wonderful dog, and I am already very attached to her.  She gives me lots of kisses, so I think the feeling is mutual.

5/17/09 - Sophie has been adopted!

4/5/09 -
Sophie girl has settled in at her new foster home.  She didn't like sharing her foster mom and brother with the resident cat and the cat wasn't too happy either, so Sophie came to visit here in Little Falls until her forever home comes along.
She seems happy as a clam, recovering from a minor case of kennel cough and tolerating all the resident dogs very well from a distance.  She hasn't met anyone up close and personal yet but will once her kennel cough has resolved. She is crated where she can see and hear all the comings and goings and just watches everyone and everything.  She is a very good little girl.  She is a petite little thing and pretty as she can be!  She seems to be completely house-trained and lets me know when she has to go out by vocalizing and hopping up and down in front of me :))
Sophie adores people and just wants to get as close as she can and soak up all the love and attention that anyone wants to share with her.  She gives the sweetest little kisses and is a very quiet girl who is not demanding in any way.  She sleeps well in her crate and doesn't object to going in when she has to.  Sophie really enjoyed the sunny, warmer weather today and played with foster mom in the yard but seemed to like lying in the sunshine most of all.
I'm sure that our Sophie girl won't stick around too long-she's too cute to pass up!!

- Sophie arrived this afternoon and has a very sweet personality. She has a lot of energy for a 6 year old and loves toys. She has dragged every goody out of her crate & has tested and inspected each one. She has had a long busy day and is now sleeping contentedly at my feet. It seems as if she was trained to not go on furniture, because even though my son encouraged her to hop onto his bed, she did so very reluctantly & was not at all comfortable. She prefers the floor. Sophie knows basic commands but is not good at all on a leash so we will be working on that. Fortunately she is a petite little girl so is not difficult to control, but walks will be much more enjoyable for both of us if she isn't trying to drag me along! Sophie has met several neighbors, including the 3 kids next door ranging in age from 7 to 11 (including a girl named Sophie!) and she was wonderful with them all. She enjoyed running around their large fenced in property & chasing after tennis balls. She is not a jumper, but does like to give lots and lots of kisses. I left Sophie crated for about an hour while I went to the store & she went in willingly & was fine when I returned. I'll report more on this little girl as we get to know her, but she did have a chance encounter with my cat & I'll simply state, "NO" to cats! My cat is definitely hoping Sophie finds her forever home soon
