1/26/10 - Silky ,What a love bug ! He really is a wonderful dog . He would do
best with someone that enjoys a snuggler.
He doesn't really require a lot of high maintenance, has never had a
potty accident, never stole anything off
a table, never chewed. He likes all other dogs, and loves all people.
Silky is a well rounded kind of guy. If
your looking for a bed buddy , just call Silky.

Silky is a wonderful K9 pal. He is house trained, crate trained, and leash trained. He wakes me when he has to potty in the morning. Oh boy, does he like to eat! He gets along great with my dogs and is, even now, their buddy. Silky would make a family a great addition. He is so
little work, yet so much fun! I am a big fan of this boxer boy. P.S His feet are healing like champs.

Silky is the sweetest boy! Laura & Mike dropped him off at Kershaw Park around 5pm. We still had my granddaughter's birthday cake to cut & presents to open, so Silky hung out with all of us for a bit. He didn't pay much attention to the other [leashed] dogs, but boy did he like those seagulls! LoL And the children - well, my eldest granddaughter (not the b-day girl) kept hugging and patting him -- fleas and all! We finally hit the road around 7pm. Silky was the best boy in the car! He looked out the windows for a bit, but once we hit the Thruway and cruising speed, he was out-like-a-light. We had a potty stop @ DeWitt service area and I took over the remainder of the drive to Albany.
At the house, Silky had a bowl of hamburger/rice mixed with Natural Balance kibble. He at probably a total of 1-1/2 cups of food. A bit of bottled water -- hey, Albany water tastes terrible! Ii walked him up and down our street - potty was successful and now, .... And now, here we are with poor Silky crated (with a cover) in the kitchen and my 2 knuckleheads upstairs in the bedroom ... the noise level is becoming manageable now!
I'm sure Silky will be a very tired boy once he arrives in Troy in the morning .... but he'll do just fine once he gets some TLC and FOOD! :)
To everyone involved in this, thank you so much for making this transport happen .... it wasn't easy, but we did it! Silky is as good as 'home' now!
Grrr ... sorry, can only get 1 pic off my cell phone to my email.

- I went and picked Silky up from the shelter yesterday. He was a cruelty/neglect case that was picked up on 5/26. He we kept tied up on a porch roof with no food or water. He was at the shelter for awhile until a wonderful shelter employee decided to take him home and foster him. She had him for about a month. The final court case was finally on 7/17 when it was ordered that Silky should be returned to his owner! The judges reasoning was "they had him since he was a puppy". Can you believe it! Silky got his lucky break when the people decided they didn't want him and signed him over to the shelter who of course called us.
In his shelter foster home Silky (also called Silly Boy by his first foster mom) lived with kids 11 years - 4 months, dogs, cats & kittens. He was wonderful with all of them. Silky has some calloused areas his elbows, legs etc. His paws look terrible but from what I was told he had no fur on them in the beginning so he has made huge improvements. He is still underweight so I can only imagine what this poor baby looked like back in May! Despite all he has been though he is the sweetest, most loveable boy. I can't believe how wonderful he is. He will be leaving me today to make the move to his long term foster home. I have to tell you I have considered just saying he can stay! He stayed in his crate all night, never made a peep. Such a great boy! He ate a good breakfast of kibble with some grated cheese and warm water (I did this to encourage him to eat as he didn't touch his dinner last night).
He was laying on the couch sound asleep until my daughter woke up and came into the room. He leaped off the couch and ran over to her busting out into a world class "Kidney Bean" dance. He is just so happy to see anyone and everyone! He is now sound a sleep on my daughters lap. Silky is safe in foster care but he truly deserves a family of his very own. Once his skin recovers from years of neglect he is going to be one stunning boxer boy!
