| 12/29/09 - Marley is doing awesome. Last week we took Marley to 2 pet stores to give him some socialization experience. He did great meeting the people that wanted to pet him and had a blast sniffing out all the neat stuff at his level. The other day we had company come over and I realized something. When Marley gets to meet the person coming into the house by himself he does great. When the other dogs are around he starts to get dominant because he is feeding off of their excitement. We've worked on his dominance and he has improved a lot. We have found that Marley has some crate anxiety though. He will go into it just fine but drools a lot. This beautiful young boy is ready and waiting for his new home. 12/7/09 - Marley is continuing to do very well with us. He's been neutered and is ready to find his forever home. Since he has been with us, he has learned quite a few manners. Whenever we went to open the door to let the dogs out, Marley used to bolt right out. Now, he has learned to sit and wait to be told to go. Another problem Marley had was counter surfing. He has also stopped doing this as well. Marley is a very quick learner and loves to please! Marley does, however, need a strong leader who will enforce boundaries and limitations with him. He demonstrates some dominant behaviors. For instance, when my daughter came home for the weekend Marley wrapped himself around her and wouldn't let go. We backed up on the introductions and started a lot slower with introducing. After we did this Marley became her shadow and had to follow her everywhere she went. We feel Marley will do best in a home where there's not a lot of people coming and going. This little guy can't wait to spend the holidays in his new home!! 11/9/09 - Marley is a beautiful dark fawn with a white chest and toes. He is approximately 1 1/2 years old. He was found wandering around near Syracuse and was rescued. When they found Marley he had kennel cough and a really bad urinary tract infection. Marley has since finished his prescription for these illnesses and is healthy. He's all up to date on his vaccinations and is just waiting to be neutered. Marley is currently living here with 3 other dogs and gets along great with all of them. I've been told he doesn't mind cats. Marley is also very loving with my 3 teenage boys. I'm not sure how he is around younger kids though. Marley sleeps in a crate at night and stays in one when we go out somewhere. He walks great on a leash and loves to take walks. Marley also likes to run around like a maniac in the fenced in yard. When Marley is relaxing he loves to be a little cuddlebug. |
