UPDATE 7/6/10 - ZuZu is a wonderful dog! She is still very anxious, looks to be with me or her dad every minute. She will now go out in the yard and play if I am in the garden or out as well. She loves her siblings, two chocolate labs. She has proved to be afraid of all men with the exception of her dad. Rectal bleeding continues so she will go to the vet this week for a check. She has learned to open the front door and let herself out! We continue obedience training on our own and will be going to class when we can locate one in the area. She comes, sits, stays, heels with reminders.

UPDATE 6/6/10 - This dog is incredible. She does very well with Grandma Hidey and 3 yo Pendragon, both Chocolate Labs. Merry Prankster is a 5 yo ME Coonkat and she and Zu are "working it out." ZuZu is nearly perfectly obedient- sit, stay, come, down etc. She ate full meals from the beginning and now likes treats as well. The alopecia is improving but she is still bleeding rectally after every bowel movement which is concerning although foster said the vet was not concerned. From her appearance and some behaviors I believe she is not purebreed boxer but who cares. We love her dearly and she is calming every day as she realizes we are forever.

5/26/10 - Zuzu has been adopted!

5/22/10 -
As you can see, ZuZu is suffering from apparent seasonal or stress Alopecia. After all she has been through in the past month, it is a wonder that she does not have other problems. The other side is a bit worse, but it will clear up in time and the skin discoloration should return to normal. She is playful and seems happy and is finally settling in a bit and is eating. For now she is wearing the shortie leash, but she really doesn't need it.  ZuZu is a big girl, she is really very gentle with the smaller dogs and is submissive to my dogs. Nice disposition!

5/20/10 -
ZuZu has arrived at the log cabin and is a bit stressed, which is to be expected with all the changes taking place in her life. She had to be surrendered by her owner due to a change in the family's finances.
ZuZu is a big girl and we will find out just how big Monday when she is updated on shots, etc. She is cloaked in a plain brown wrapper (fawn) and has a decorative white throat piece and lovely white toes. Nice eyes, too. She would benefit a lot with a good obedience class. Although she doesn't pull much on leash, it would appear that her education has been neglected. According to her paperwork, she is all boxer and very much a real 'native Maine' girl.
