| UPDATE 9/4/11 - It has been an an entire year with Zorro and it feels as if he has been a part of this family all along! He has won the hearts of the five of us, not including my parents and inlaws. When people meet him I describe him as a lover. If you are sitting on the couch or floor he can never snuggle closee enough. My guy keeps very fit. The kids still enjoy taking him to the park next door and he jogs with me in the morning. When you come in the front door his extra long tail whips everything in sight and he has to find a shoe or stuffed animal to greet you with. It cracks me up. He does not chew the items, just finds one and greets you with it. It is really cute until you find one of your shoes on the back deck:)I'd say the only problem with Zorro is he takes up too much photo space in my phone and on my camera. I capture every thing he does on film but the balance isn't there. Too many of Zorro and not enough of my three human children! HA! They don't complain but I've got to be
careful not to make them jealous. UPDATE 12/4/10 - Ah Zorro! We think our dog is the best dog in the world. Our eldest daughter Leah did not have the pleasure of meeting him right away because she was studying in South America. We would skype with her and try to make her jealous by putting Zorro's cute face up to the web cam. She would ask him not to get too big until she got home. Leah finally met him at Thanksgiving time and it was love at first sight. He likes to sleep in her bed. Even though he is a German Shepherd, boxer mix, he is a lover like a boxer. I think Zorro is very happy here. He loves the park next door and the three children use their obedience training as they take him for walks. He is smart as a whip so he is well behaved. Though, he did figure out how to open the lid to his food bin and we caught a very happy dog climbing in dog food heaven:)He is growing like a weed. Tall yet slender and fit. The Garman clan is complete with Zorro in the house! Thanks! UPDATE 11/4/10 - Our family and friends are so attached to Zorro! He is really enjoying his new home and is very used to getting his picture taken. Right now he is upstairs with his sleeping head on my daughters back. That will teach her to do homework on the floor. She thinks he is too cute to move so she is stuck:)We had our annual Halloween party and Zorro fit in perfect (We didn't dress him up because he has his natural Zorro mask) There was so much noise and lots of people but he was awesome. He just finished obedience school and we all really enjoy working with him. He is doing well but there is room to learn. I've been blessed with some great dogs in my lifetime but he is most special to me and my family. I'm so glad we have hime in our lives. UPDATE 9/24/10 - Zorro is the most awesome dog on the planet! Our family is so in love with him and he is all lover boy so he seems so content here. Zorro met the vet. He got caught up on his shots and the vet said he looks wonderful. 30 pounds already! Saturday morning the dog trainer will meet Zorro at our house. This will be very good for Zorro and the family. He already sits, stays and responds to no. It took him a couple of days but he is potty trained so that has been a big plus. For the most part he is so well behaved but the kids and I got a big kick out of seeing him standing on our round table on our outside deck. So proud like he was king of the mountain. We explained to him that he is not a cat as we helped him down. He also loves sleeping on the large hammock outside. That is so funny to see so I've taken many photos. Well, not much else to add except that he has really made our family smile a million times over. He's a Garman for sure:) UPDATE 9/11/10 - Wow! It has only been a week but it feels as if Zorro has been a part of the family for a life time. The ride home (7 hours from New York to Pa.) was wonderful. He was relaxed and it was a nice bonding experience. He is smart and sassy. He gets tons of attention from the kids and even the Grandparents can't resist his charms! Tonight he went to his brothers football game and loved all of the hugs and praise he received from all of the families. Zorro will meet the vet for the first time on Monday at 5:00. He loves humans so much that I believe this will be stress free. Obedience training wont begin until October. We have been through classes with our German Shepherds so we are going to bring the kids to put a new spin on it. Zorro already listens to basic commands so it will be fun to watch him grow. Zorro's Foster home was a great place because he gets really tired running around but goes right to his crate to retreat. He has done that since day one. He is growing fast and we are more than in love with him. Thanks for a wonderful dog and experience:) 9/4/10 - I was adopted today! 8/11/10 - So I am at a new foster home that is great. Lots of stuff to do. I got two foster brothers Bonez is here like me waiting for a forever home the other one just lives here but they both are great we play and run around. I follow them and they are teaching me the ropes. I sleep in my crate like a big boy all by my self from 9pm until 5 am and then go right out side. My one foster brother is a little protective of me but, I also love that little girl that lives here Shes 7 and she runs with us all. Oh yeah I do have a foster sister but, she is not to fond of me. I try to play with her but, all she does is run away from me. I think it is a fun game but, she doesn't think it is that fun it is more like exercise for her. Foster mom says that it is ok because she could loose a few pounds. I get fed twice a day and I get a treat when I go into my cage great stuff happening here. When I get tired I go in the cage and take a nap I got three to choose from and my foster brothers let me do what ever I want. We are working on the food surfing. I just want to make sure they are not getting anything better than me and no one says anything about it except foster mom. I will check in later. 8/9/10 - Zorro is getting along with Bonz and my male dog very well. He wants to play with my female but, she is mad at me for bringing this baby in the home. She sniffed him looked at me like a was crazy and then walked away and will not be bothered by this pup. Bonz and my male on the other hand are playing and playing with him. I had to cage the pup right now so he can get some rest. He is attached to my 7 year old all ready following her around the yard and was sleeping next to her. He is too cute. So he is adjusting ok. A little barking and whining in the cage at first but, he'll get use to it. I did cove it up and that seemed to help until I get the plastic cage from downstairs set up later tonight. Thank you I hope the baby cures my baby blues. 7/16/10 - I wanted to update the NH boys. They are the greatest little pups. They will melt your heart. Already no soiling in their crates at night, or during the day. They have me well trained! After their nap, they whine and I take them out they do their business. When they go out they are rough and tumble till they tire out which is about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes and they go right to sleep without a peep and sleep soundly till next play date and potty. They will sleep about 6 hours a night. Sly is the biggest one of all. He and Noah stay close to one another. While Zorro (which I call him but i am waiting for someone to give me a new name for him) tends to be the adventurous one. He is also the more laid back of the three. Noah likes to really let you know what he wants and is the sounding board for all of them. They are always wagging their tails which are VERY long. They are happy, loveing, and healthy. They love to give kisses and I love getting them and I love their puppy smell. Some family is going to be very lucky with one of these pups. 7/11/10 - While their brothers and sister stayed in New Jersey, Sly, Noah and another boy puppy finally arrived from down south to us and they are doing WONDERFULLY. Their mom is a full Boxer and their dad is a German Shepherd/Hound Mix. They are about 6 weeks old and will be ready to go in about another 2 weeks. All of the puppies are super sweet and friendly. More to come as the foster family gets them settled in. |
| *Note- Because I'm a puppy, I'll need someone who is home most of the time- stay-home, work at home, retired. |
