UPDATE 1/2/11 - Hi there!!  This is Wiley or "The Wiiiileman" as everyone calls me.  I don't have ANY idea why they started calling me that.  I suppose it might have something to do with the way I run top speed from my skin sister's room, across the hall, jump up on Mom 'n' Dad's bed and then do it all over again and again and again.  Or maybe it's the way that I greet my skin family EVERY time they come into the room, with the craziest shaking kidney bean and crazy kisses.  I might have been a little nervous they weren't coming back and I'm so happy I can't contain myself.  I don't know, but I kinda like my new nickname.
I've been feeling pretty good.  My allergies aren't too bad.  I do lick at my back paws A LOT, but my Mom says she thinks this might be "Behavioral"...whatever that means because I do it more when I'm nervous.  My skin brother and sister are RIDICULOUS, they won't give me ANYTHING from their plates in case I'm "allergic" and my little brother Coop even vacuums up the Playdoh every time because it contains "wheat"?
I've decided I HATE having my nails clipped and I just can't be a gentlemen when someone is trying.  I tried really hard, but I just can't do it.  I cry and Mom says I'm a little bit of a baby and she's going to try the grinder and a muzzle next time.  I wouldn't even let the girls at the vet do it for me!!
I had this nice trainer come out to the house and the Skins found out I'm already clicker trained and also trained on an Invisible Fence.  I could have told them that if only they spoke a little more boxer.  Mom says after the holidays we're going to go to a Canine Good Citizenship class.
I do try to talk to my skins every day when I'm hungry.  My Mom already speaks boxer well, but the others are learning pretty quickly.  They say I sound like Chewbacca...what's a Chewbacca anyway?
The Skins were nice enough to bring in a HUUUUGE Christmas tree and cover it with these funky hanging things.  I wasn't that interested in the tree until they put these great tug toys under the tree all wrapped in paper!!!  Mom says it's a good thing that our family is full of dog people and that she likes to wrap presents.  I'm not sure what she's talking about but she did cover all those presents in paper again for me to tear up!!  After the second time they started blocking the door to the living room.
Oh yeah THE COOLEST thing happened after that!!  The next morning when I came downstairs, there was a WHOLE  HUGE SOCK full of new toys for me!!  And luckily, my fur brother and sister shared theirs too...well actually I took them, but they didn't care.  I have like 15 new toys from Santa!!  That Santa must be one cool dog!!
Okay a few last things.  I had a little bit of a rough start here with my fur sister Pepper.  Turns out, she's just a big bag of hot air!!!  She and Durham my fur brother, are awesome.  We play all the time and we snuggle and we had THE BEST time in all that snow last week.  The skins don't care if I sleep on the sofa and I like that, but I found my FAVORITE snoozing spot is in Coop's room on the end of his bed.  I sleep with him at naptime and bedtime almost every day.  And Bridget and I play tug every day and she feeds me and lets me out every morning.
And last night I was asleep on the sofa when everyone started cheering really late and then Mom leaned over and said "Happy New Year Wiles, this is your home now you don't need to worry ever again.  This year will be A LOT better than the last."  I don't know what that means, but I like the sound of it.

11/12/10 - Wiley has been adopted!

11/1/10 -
Wiley was surrendered back to SCBR due to no fault of his own.  He arrived here Late October 31st and so far, what a treat he is!  Within an hour he was introduced to the first two resident male dogs and within six hours to the third grouchy male.  Wiley seems to have lead a more sedentary life style than he would have preferred and has about 15 lbs to loose.  He also came with extremely long nails that were causing him some discomfort.  I just cut his nails and he could not stop kissing me with appreciation.  Tonight he will get the spa treatment.  Right now we are still on day one with him and we are seeing that he loves to play a lot and really enjoys a busy household. I am giving him many opportunities to play outside with the resident dogs so he can burn off some fat and build some muscle.  In the next few days I will be getting to know him better and can give a more detailed update.  But for know must tell you that my nine year old Son has already said, "He is like a pot of gold".

UPDATE 3/18/10 - Wiley is doing fantastic. He has become very comfortable in our home and is fitting right in. He is very smart and very-well trained. I have worked with him on basic commands, which he had downpat. He needed a little work on holding the command until I released him, but he is starting to understand that is what I want him to do. He has impeccable leash manners. Everyone in our family is able to walk him on a very loose leash, and even if he sees another dog, he still remains calm, but alert. I have him automatically sitting every time I stop when we are walking; he is such a quick learner. We will be staring obedience training this Sunday. Wiley met the trainer (Pack of Paws in Strubridge), and she agrees we can skip the first two basic obedience classes and go right into "Perfect Family Dog" class. Wiley does show some separation anxiety when he is placed in the crate. We will have to be very patient and work with him to modify his behavior. I think eventually he will get it. He is a very impressive and handsome dog. People take notice of him everywhere he goes. He has adopted my old dog's bed and likes to take it with him from room to room so he can lie down in it. He also has started to get vocal with us to tell us things that he wants (eat, go for a walk, etc.). If you say what he wants, he has this great little jump and twist that he does. He also does that every time he sees my wife (so do I, but I cannot jump so high). It looks like he wants to join our pack. We are glad!

3/8/10 - I was adopted today!

2/22/10 - Hi!  I'm Wiley!  I'm a 2.5 year old, brindle, boy.... I arrived with my foster family a few days ago, and am doing very well! Foster mom and dad say I'm a true Gentleman...they also tell me I'm "handsome" alot, and that makes me wiggle and wag my nub!  I pose well for pictures, and am very well trained and smart! I lived with another family for a long time before coming here, and my last mom had to work very long shifts, and I was left in my crate or tied out alot...my mom knew this was not good for me, and although she, and my family loved me VERY much, she knew I deserved better,,, so here I am, looking for my new forever home!
I know lots of commands, like sit, stay, come, down (lie down), shake (with both paws), crate, leave it, no, and my favorite "good boy"! I even know some hand signals.
I love car rides, and to go for walks, foster dad is so proud of me, because i do not pull on my leash at all, in fact, the littlest person who lives in my foster home, who foster mom says is 4, can even walk me! I have some food allergies, and eat dog food made out of chicken and rice. I get along just fine with cats, dogs, and little people!  I love to give kisses, and even though i really want to, i don't jump on people, my last mom taught me that is not polite...
Foster mom says i'm special because I have a flash of white on my chest that has a brown spot in it shaped just like a heart...I say it's because I have so much love to give...:)
I have 2 micro chips!! I'd love to live in a forever home where I would not be left home alone alot, a stay at home mom would make me very happy, I am crate trained, I love to run, play and bounce.  I would like an active home, and maybe a job to do...foster mom thinks I could learn how to get the mail!  I don't know what that means, but i bet I could do it!!! I love kids, and playing with other dogs! Foster mom says my forever home should have a rubber room, because when my foster dog sister and I get playing we bounce and go crazy!! I'm neutered already, and up to date on my shots... foster mom in excited because it's supposed to snow and she wants to see if I like it as much as foster sister dog does! Please check me out!  I'm a lover, and a real handsome gentleman...just ask foster mom.
