UPDATE 8/24/10 - Hi everyone. Well another month has gone by.  I am getting on better with my bother's dogs, even though they are of the geriatric variety. I have noticed they let me do most of the running. But I don't mind they are pretty neat company. I'm still having trouble meeting up with other dogs on the street or the park, though. My Mom and Dad say I get too over anxious and make the visit not as much fun as it could be. I am hoping my new classes, starting September 29th, will better teach us how to approach other dogs and people. I sure do hope so as there will be a lot of them there. We haven't even been able to meet at the park with the trainer. Every time we have an appointment it thunderstorms. Next try is next week. I went to a family reunion about 4 hrs. away. We had to stay in a hotel. That was really a good time, and I got to ride in an elevator. It was pretty strange for me the whole weekend, but everyone said how good I was.And I didn't keep anyone awake in the hotel or disturb my Mom and Dad. OH GOOD DOG ME! So I quess I did well for my first impression. The following weekend family came from out of state to visit us. More new people. I did even better. So I guess I am starting to get the hang of it.
Well Troy has alot to say about his new experiences. He has come a long way since the day he came home with us. We think he was never socialized with many people or dogs.He is a whole lot less fearful as well, which has made us very happy.

UPDATE 7/21/10 - Troy is adjusting in our home to my husband and me very well. Our “other” pets are 2 of our sons dogs and I can’t say that that is going as well yet. He appears to get over excited with any other dog and these particular dogs just run away from him. He is starting to show signs of calming down some what with at least one of them.  However, we have tried to take him to the park and upon meeting other dogs there, it turns into a nightmare of pulling and more aggressiveness. We meet with our trainer there on the 29th so maybe she can help us straighten the problem out.
We know he is trying so hard to please, as most boxers will do, and just needs some more time and work put into it. Our trainer has helped a lot so far and will continue to do so. He is truly a wonderful dog and has calmed down considerably in a months time. We have put him on a long line and played for hours with the hose.He LOVES that. Get's lots of exercise and the water, in this weather, feels really good to him.

UPDATE 7/1/10 - Troy is adapting very quickly after an 8.5 hour trip home from his foster's home, to ours. He rode like a champ and even seemed to enjoy it. So far that was our vacation. Back to work the next day with Troy. He comes to work with me every day and is doing very well in that enviorment, too.
We bring him to our vet today so we will know more about his health, but he seems healthy to us.
We had gone through obedience traing with our last Boxer so have applied the same tactics with Troy and he has caught on remarkably fast.We called the same trainer and have an appoitment 7/8/10 for evaluation.
He is a very social dog, not only with other people, but also with other dogs. He did have to learn how to curtail his manner of playing a little bit as his barking and over excitement made the other dogs run away from him.  Two of our adult sons have dogs, that also come to work and over to our house.
Troy enjoys his walks twice a day The Sporn Mesh harness workes wonderfully as his pulling was severe at first and very hard to hold onto. It teaches them how to heal as well, but is not as resticting as some of the other harnesses.
Troy was very pleased yesterday because we took him to one of our large pet stores for him to pick out some new toys. He was like a child in a candy store, of course wanting one of each. That was a very hysterical, funny time for all of us. It made him really happy as well as it did us!

UPDATE 6/29/10 - We have Troy adopted 6/22/10. I am sending my first update. Troy is a wonderful dog and seems to have adjusted quite quickly. He is still confused, but has come a very long was considering we are his at least 4th home in a short amount of time. He tries so very hard to please once he understands  what it is we want. We have an appointment with our vet Thursday, 7/1/10 to discuss heartworm meds tick and flea prevention etc. He rides like a champ in the car. All the way home-- 8.5 hrs. from Maine to our home, and ½ hr. to work with me every day and back. We were astounded on the way home how well he handled that long a trip. Well, that is it for now until the next time.

6/22/10 - I was adopted today!

6/16/10 -
Troy went to the vet today and got his shots and a 3000 mile check up.  Everything was in working order and there was nearly a fight in the office to see who could steal him from me and take him home.  Troy is now road ready and waiting for the call to come up from the minor leagues to the big leagues, his new forever home.  The little chow hound has gained 2 lbs since Friday so putting on weight should not be a problem as long as he isn't crated.

6/14/10 -
What a few days out of jail will do for a man!  Troy has settled in nicely.  He plays all day with Mabel, naps with and on Maxi and is showing us all the commands and manners he has.  He is an awesome guy and you can even tell how greateful he is to be out of the cage.  No accidents, no aggression issues, no food aggression, sleeps well in a dog pile, doesn't snore, not an early riser, and loves to play with toys and wrestle with Mabel.  They play so long and hard we have to make them take a break because both tongues are hanging on the ground and we end up stepping on them!  He's another keeper that can stay here as long as he wants.

6/12/10 -
Troy "the boy toy" is in the house.  He is jumping out of his skin with excitement from being sprung from the shelter.  It has been determined that Troy does not do well in a kennel.  Rumor has it that he doesn't eat often while being caged and he is in need of a few pounds.  It was also rumored that he doesn't do well with other dogs.  Not so, he was playing with his new harem within 30 minutes.
Troy ate his supper like a Hoover vacume cleaner and then went out to do his after dinner poop and dropped about a 6 pounder so I think he weighs about 50 lbs now.
He is still very hyper and needs doggie training 101.  He is starting to show signs of calming down and slept with 2 of the other dogs all night long.  He is a diamond in the rough and once he learns to calm down and relax like the pack, he will be perfect.  He gets all his shots on the 16th and he will be raod ready.
