| UPDATE 7/21/10 - This time we will let Titan provide his own update-
Waddup up all? Big T here in NJ. Let me start by saying my forever home ROCKS! I LOVE my "cougar" girlfriend Daisy, we play, wrestle and cuddle all the time! I gotta say, for a 6 year old she is pretty hot! Fit, flexible, tight hind quarters- she must do yoga like our human Mommy. She could use some grill work for a crooked tooth but hey, I'm not superficial- she can have her way with me anytime...;-) I don't know why but Mommy & Daddy have been crating me the last few weeks when they go to work. I don't mind it that much but I do like it when our neighbor Kathy comes over with her kiddies to let me out around noon. I do 1 + 2 (no- not arithmetic) and then run and play with the mini humans for a while. By the way do any of you know the replacement cost for a Cablevision remote control, a Pioneer remote control, a pair of Merrile shoes and some wedding favor candle thing?? Ahh whateva... Mommy and Daddy have also been bringing me to this REALLY cool place once a week called Doggy Day Care. There are many, many dogs there that I box, run, roll around and play with for eight hours at a clip! I go with them all, big and small and come home with bumps, scrapes and scratches. I sleep very well after these play days :-). Daddy says if I were human, I would have made a great checking forward in hockey- whatever that means. Everyone at Day Care LOVES me- they say that I am a kind gentile soul and I always get a cookie when I leave. Well, gotta run cuz it's time for dinner and Daddy said tonight we get wet food with our regular kibble...yum! I don't want to keep him waiting so tune in next time... Master Titan UPDATE 6/21/10 - Titan- Month 1 Update Adjustment- GREAT continues to be the word! I would say Titan is now fully adjusted to us, our home and our schedule. He is still getting used to the neighborhood sounds as his barking/growling does wake us up at times (this is good since he is one of our sentinels). He and Daisy are officially best buds! They run, play and wreak havoc inside and outside of the house continuously! When tired, he cuddles with her or with us- it’s just too cute. Being the big lug that he is, he does need to work on his spatial awareness as well as his understanding of pounds per square inch. When Tiffiny and I are laying in bed or on the couch he jumps up onto us, walks all over us and plops down on top of us- all 67 lbs of him! Good thing we are tough and can handle some scratches, bumps and bruises – lol. Trips- Aside from visiting family we haven’t really taken Titan on any excursions since the last update. However, Titan has learned what a sunroof is... He tries to stand on the center console and stick his head out while constantly sniffing. It is pretty funny to see but we don’t allow it since it is a dangerous position for him to be in. We continue to take him to my sister’s house- a large fenced in property where he and Daisy just go crazy! Health- Titan met his new vet and had an overall exam- he is fully healed from his "nip & tuck" and dew claw surgeries. He was vaccinated for Lyme and Distemper and also tested negative for heartworm. The vet loved his disposition and said we did real well. Titan officially has a clean bill of health. Obedience- Titan is 5 weeks into basic obedience training and he is undoubtedly the teacher’s pet. John (the instructor) always uses Titan for demonstrations- he is great in class! At home I think Titan knows he can get away with “it” a little more than in front of his classmates- “it” is having mommy & daddy repeat themselves and assist more with commands than John has to. He is also walking better on the leash with Daisy- trying to play with her every 10 minutes as opposed to every 2- lol. Fun stories- Well, Titan continues to fall off the bed and the couch – we are starting to wonder why he hasn’t mastered the concept yet.?.? Luckily he is very limber for a big muscular dog and he bounces right back up! His latest thing is to strip Daisy’s collar off of her and walk around the house with it dangling from his mouth. I think he simply prefers to have his “Cougar” girlfriend naked all the time- can’t blame him there… We had some construction done in the yard and while the workers were digging, so was Titan! He dug a hole the size of himself and laid in it. Tiffiny saw his butt up in the air and the dirt flying and when I got home, I was lucky enough to backfill the hole- too funny! Lastly, he stole a lint roller and chewed the handle into little pieces leaving a breadcrumb trail throughout the house. Had we not found the lint roll under the couch (5 days later), we would still be trying to figure out what was destroyed… Titan is totally awesome! Love that guy! UPDATE 5/19/10 - Adjustment- One word: GREAT! Titan is a big lug that loves to play, give kisses and cuddle. He quickly adjusted to Tiffiny and myself but most of all to Daisy (our 5yr old female). The two of them are already inseparable. They play nonstop- tug of war, chase me, wrestling, boxing - you name it. It's really a pleasure to watch them have fun and be dogs. Daisy is establishing herself as the alpha and Titan is fine with it. The neighborhood kids love Titan and they come over almost daily to play with him and Daisy or to simply watch the two of them go at it. Trips- Titan mostly sleeps in the car. This past weekend, we took the pooches to a farm to pick up vegetables and then spent the afternoon walking the fields and trails at a pet park. They both loved it as did we. My sister has a large fenced in property where the pooches can run like crazy, and that is exactly what Titan did on Monday for about 2.5 hours. The humans were all outside doing yard work and Titan and Daisy were playing with balls, Frisbees, grass, rocks, chasing each other around the pool- it was a great day. Health- Titan has yet to see our vet but his "nip & tuck" scar looks great and is almost healed. I have re-wrapped his dew claw scar twice already because he keeps getting it wet & dirty and I want to keep it protected during his rough housing with Daisy. He will be meeting our vet next week for a checkup and a heart worm test. Obedience- Well, he knows sit but it only lasts milliseconds. He definitely needs obedience training which he is starting tonight at Paws-itive Experience Pet Services, LLC (www.trainadog.com). John is awesome with all dogs and our other pooches are all graduates. Fun stories- Well aside from running around the house with shoes and electronics remotes in his mouth, he fell off the bed and the couch a few times. Titan also tried to walk through a glass patio door- twice. Him and Daisy were on opposite banks of our pond and instead of going around to get her, he did a swan dive into it to get across (smart enough to know the shortest distance between two points...) Seriously, Tiffiny and I believe Titan is a perfect match for Daisy and for us and our lifestyle. He is going to have a great home with us and I'm sure plenty of fun stories are on their way! 5/9/10 - Titan has been adopted! 4/26/10 - We picked Titan up from his owner's home yesterday. He was exceptionally well cared for and loved very much by his family- Mom, Dad and two older boys. Unfortunately, tough times hit and they had no choice but to give him up. He is a lover with tons of energy. He is a gorgeous fawn boy who only wants to get love and play. He knows some basic commands such as sit and give paw and we will be working with him on the other basics. He absolutely loves my daughter and son. We introduced him to our 3 dogs last night and his nub was going a mile a minute, I have never seen a nub wag so fast. Cranky Bella accepted him but wanted nothing to do with the playing stuff, Bruno needs a bit more time to adjust to a young, playful male but Diamond was ready for action!!! The two of them played until they literally wore each other out. For a big boy he is gentle. We crated him for sleeping and he whined a bit but settled in nicely. He went right out this morning and took care of business, spent a little while with us before work and school, and then back into his crate since none of us were home today. He was great in the crate- no accidents and we were gone for about 7 hours. Out he came with batteries fully recharged- he and Diamond had a blast playing outside for a while then brought play time inside. They really get along well. We are working on an appointment to get him neutered which may help his relationship with Bruno. All in all he is a beautiful young, energetic dog who deserves a loving forever home. I can guarantee he won't be available for long. |
