UPDATE 3/2/10 - Romeo has adjusted very well! He is so much better with being in the crate during the day. We are looking into getting our yard completely fenced in and will get a doggy door so he can have freedom to go out and run around. We have been consistently taking him for walks but the way he runs around the yard so fast shows us how much energy he has to release. He LOVES people, and is so exctied to greet whoever comes to our house. We are working very hard on decreasing the jumping. He does well with my husband and I but it's hard for him to contain his excitement when others come by. It's so funny when we get him to sit, but he just can't control his tail wagging! He is signed up for doggy school starting the 15th of March. He will do level one first and then if it is successful we will also do level 2. It was very helpful to have our 90 minute in home session to get my husband and I on the same page. I taught Romeo how to give a "high 5", I think he caught on very quickly. He  is a love bug and we are so happy to have him!

UPDATE 2/5/10 - We are sooo happy with Romeo! I'm sure all people that adopt say this but, we can not even believe that someone would give up this dog. He has done so well adjusting. He was showing some separation anxiety the first couple of days. He would keep an eye on us at all times, follow us around the house and cry and scratch if we shut a door.. He has gotten much better, almost as if he trusts that we will not leave him. I brought him to the vet allready, I just needed to be assured that he was healthy. He looked a bit skinny and always seems to be hungry. The vet assured us that he is healthy and just a tad on the skinny side. He allready looks a bit healthier than he did last week. I start every morning with a walk/run with Romeo and I can't think of a better way to start the day! He is a great running partner and I feel he is very in tune with me when we run together. We have a trainer coming on Monday to do a 90 minute session with us. This is our first dog, so my husband and I need it as much as Romeo does. After that session we will put him in classes with other dogs to get him socialized. He met my brother's dog and did allright but he could use some training regarding more appropriate ways to "play". I can not even express how happy we are that we adopted Romeo. We care about him and love him so much. We are both always calling eachother to check on how/what he is doing. He is our first baby! I will update again after our training on Monday.

1/30/10- Romeo was adopted today!

1/26/10 -
Romeo is a very nice boy and as long as you are one-on-one with him he has no problem. He works well for treats and knows where I keep them. He does have a slight tendency to counter-surf, but he is still just a pup. He doesn't mind being crated, and is quiet in the crate. He likes to play fetch, but doesn't like to give back the stick or ball. He runs like crazy out in the yard and really stretches his legs and gets his exercise. No accidents in the house at all!

1/17/10 -
I picked up Romeo from his transport in Portland and we came directly home from there. He rode well and played a bit with a squeaky toy that was in the car. I immediately put him in the dog yard when we got home and he was quite grateful. He walked around a lot, and finally was a very empty dog!
He is on restricted activity as he was just neutered this week. He did meet Rose face to face and jumped on her, which she objected to. Perhaps the next meeting, after a few days, will go a bit more social. This boy needs a bit of training. So far he loves treats! That should help. He slept all night without a sound, was fairly patient while the other dogs had their initial 'outing' this morning, was good when I took him out for his 'outing'. He is eating in his crate.
