ROCKY IS DEAF
UPDATE 7/9/10 -   Rocky's been with us just about a month! He's doing well. He is a shoe eater and a counter surfer, but we're working on that! He is a very lovey boy and he fits in well. We took him to the vet last week and he's losing weight so we did a diet change and he's on a few medicines, so keep your fingers crossed he starts gaining! We start obedience class next month with Rocky and his sister, Asti, it should be fun!

UPDATE 6/17/10 - Hard to believe it's only been a week! Rocky fits in so well it seems like we have had him forever! He is so well behaved, and sooooo lovey! He loves his new sister, Asti, they play really well together! Rocky went to the vet today, he is PERFECT except for an ear infection! With some antibiotics and some drops it should clear right up! He weighs 65lbs! He's been a really good boy except for when he grabbed a half a watermelon off the counter and went to town on it! He's such a good boy, and we are so glad he is part of our family!

6/9/10 - Rocky has been adopted!

5/26/10 -
Rocky has been with us over a month now; what a wonderful, loving dog. He is kind spirited and always looking to please. We have the basic commands down like Sit, Stay, Come and Lay down. He has learned at night when I flash the light it is time to come in. He has not vomited for a week now since one pepcid right before bedtime Hooray. Rocky loves kids the only bad thing is that he loves to give them kisses. He is around 6 children at all times at all ages 5 months to 18 years. He is cage trained in the day time when I go to the store or appointments with no vomiting in the cage anymore. He sleeps with my son right now he likes the security of someone being there. This is a great dog and all my neighbors love him. I am hoping his forever family will come soon.

It's me Rocky I love my new foster home plenty of kids and other dogs to play with. We had a cook out over the weekend and boy was that fun. All the neighbors had their dogs out and we run up and down the fence line barking at each other. I got to steal the soccer ball away from the kids and run off with the base ball. Ok it wasn't only me the other dogs were in on it but, the kids loved it. I love to sleep with my foster son. We curl up together and I sleep all night with no barking or messes in the morning. I do go into the cage when my mom leaves to the store or soccer games but, all night it gives me a little bit of anxiety towards the morning and I then get sick. I am been very good about that. I get fed less food at meal time and I do not get sick as much. I know how to sit, shake, and lay down with my mom signing. I am a smart cookie. I love to run in the yard it is huge and us four dogs just run around for hours. I do love it here but, would love a permanent home where I could snuggle up with you so we both can feel safe and I could use a best friend.

Well, Rocky has been with us a week now!  hard to believe, time flies by so fast...
He has the most playful, curious, personality...we just love him, and he loves our youngest daughter the most I think. He was neutered this past Tues. and is recovering very nicely, just as playful and bouncy the day after as he was the day before.
He had some "tummy issues", loose bowels, and some vomitting when he first arrived, but those seem to be working themselves out as well. He is having a bit of trouble with using the bathroom in the house, its probably a 'miscommunication' issue on our part, as he's deaf...he likes to be walked on a leash to go to the bathroom,,,won't just run around the yard by himself...lol. He LOVES water,,,am anxious for summer to see if he's a swimmer!
He tries to "pile" with our rottie, angel, but she doesn't get it, and is a tad jealous, so everytime he tries to snuggle with her, she gets up and walks away, so he moves over, and 'piles' with me! He and angel play well together, and he does 'bark' at her, the noises he makes are quite funny... He is doing well in his crate.  We've started to crate both he and our own dog at night. Our dog was used to sleeping on our bed, so Rocky wanted to as well, and there just wasn't enough room, so to be fair, we crate them both. We are still working on 'sign language' with Rocky...we are teaching each other.
I think Rocky would like a home with a big yard, other dogs, and kids...he also is fine with kitties.. even if they aren't fine with him!  He can't hear the 'yowl' an angry kitty makes, so it doesn't bother him in the slightest!  He just sits there and stares at them, with those 'poor me' eyes, and waits for them to come to him...only one of our cats will...she's obviously his favorite.
Rocky has a unique way of getting to know the house, (i think that's what he's doing), he rubs his forehead back and forth across the strangest things,,,towels, clothes, my blankets, the couch, anything he wants to claim I guess...whatever he's doing is harmless, and adorable, and obviously makes him comfortable.
Rocky enjoys being outside (when its not monsoon season), and playing with the kids, and being with the family.  He sticks especially close to his humans, looking for guidance. He's a very well behaved young lad, and mature for his age.

- Have you ever seen the movie "Homeward Bound"?  With the older golden retriever, the boxer, and the kitty trying to find their family?  Well, my foster family says I act just like "Chance", the boxer in that movie...
I have my tail unlike some boxers, and i'm the silliest boy you'll ever meet..I have children in my foster home, and my favorite is the littlest one...foster mom says she's 4, and I think she's really special...she was in this big thing full of water and bubbles tonight, and I really wanted to get in with her..it looked like alot of fun, and I wanted to make sure my little girl was ok..
I got to play outside today, and even though i can't hear, I had a blast playing with my new foster family, and stuck close to foster mom and dad, so I could get direction from them.  they show me "thumbs up", and they are smiling alot, and that makes me a happy, happy, boy.
They hooked up this thing that squirted water into the air, it was the coolest ever!!!  Since I was running all around, and it was really warm, I decided to follow the kids who were playing in this water thing...I stuck my face in it, and it felt sooooo goood!!!!  So, I stuck my face in some more, than I figured out how get a drink from it, even though there was a big tub "thingy" full of water, this was way more fun!!!
There are kitties here, one of them lets me sniff, and nose it around, the other two make funny faces at me, so I think they want to play, until I got a "swat" in the face from one of them,,,I think from now on, I'll wait until they come to me..
I would love a home with lots of time, places to run, and a family with patience because foster mom says I'm special..well I already knew that, she moves her mouth alot, and I don't know why,,,I guess it's because I'm deaf.  I don't know what that means but it doesn't hurt me, and I have no other idea how life could be!
My birthday is coming up in a couple weeks, and i hope I get a party!  Woo hoo!!  I'm going to be 1 year old!!  But, foster mom and dad, say I act much older...
So, if you've seen "homeward bound", or even if you haven't, I will touch your heart in a way you've never felt before...I'm "Rocky", and I want to make your home complete!!  more later!
