UPDATE 6/28/10 - Possum is doing just fine here.  He is very well adjusted to his new home.  His broken leg continues to get stronger and he does't seem to favor it except going down stairs.  He has been off leash a bit now and loves the freedom to romp and retrieve his tennis ball or frisbee.  He has met and spent time with his new cousin Finn, a rescue shepard pup.  They play a little too hard sometimes but get along happily. Possum has had a medical adventure when he counter surfed and ate a bunch of supplement treats for his joints.  After trips to the emergency vet and his own vet he seems to have no negative effects.  The poor guy was then bit by a bee an had his eye swollen shut for a day but that is behind him now as well.  He has been enjoying walks on the beach, trips to the lakehouse and of course loves car rides.
Obedience training is next on our agenda to work on his commands and teach his new parents how to become effective trainers.  Possum is eating well, sleeping well and is a very happy guy.  Thanks to his foster family for all their care and rehabilitation these last two months. We love our new boy!

6/5/10 - I was adopted today!

5/11/10 -
Possum went to the vet's today to have the last of his stitches out.  Dr Todd was very pleased to see he is walking on it.  Possum's muscle is starting to come back in this leg too.  We also checked his weight and he has gained about 4lbs.  Yeah!  We also tested him with their cat while we were there and he did great.  He was very excited to see it, but would leave the kitty alone when told to.  So, if you are looking for a cat friendly, cuddly bug, with a mushy mushy face, that loves everybody, Possum is your boy!

4/24/10 -
Possum went to the vets yesterday to have his stitches out.  Well, he wasn't walking on the leg still.  Dr Todd did not like the way his hip looked so he kept him and took the pins out early.  He said that it was putting pressure on the hip joint and causing swelling.  We picked possum up today.  He was so excited to see us and happy to come home again. Possum is already using it more. He will have to go back in two more weeks to have these sutures removed.  Then he should be ready to go to his forever home.  He will still need to take it slow in his recovery with leash walks and a lot of down time.  Possum is looking for his forever family could that be yours?

4/8/10 -
Hi all, Possum had surgery on Tuesday and all went well.  He has a plate and screws along with two rods in his leg.  When we picked him up last night he walked out on it. He looked at us as if to say "thanks this works much better"  He is on some heavy duty pain meds and has a 10 inch line of staples holding his incision closed.  We carry him up and down the stairs, thank god he is so skinny. LOL  Anyway when we know more we will post more but for now he is crated and sleeping most of the day.  We do know he has a stellar personality and loves people.  When he is out of his crate to eat all he really wants to do is climb up on the couch and cuddle with us.  I'll try to get some new pictures of his leg.  The incision looks great but the bruises show now that he is shaved, they are ferocious looking.  Most of his leg and side are purple where the car hit him.  He is one of those boxer boys that just gives you that look that says just what he is feeling.  Please keep him in your thoughts for a speedy recovery, he sure deserves his second chance.
