UPDATE 1/18/11 - Ozzie is doing really good except for that one episode. He has learnt his boundries in the yard. He still tries to wander a bit but for the most part he does not leave the yard. He starts doggie training on 1/31/11 and he had a little taste last night. He gets very excited around all the dogs, just wants to play. Hes being such a good boy when it comes to begging at the table too. I wish the others would learn from him. Hes a joy to have. He still makes me smile everyday.

UPDATE 12/21/10 - Ozzie is doing excellent in our home. He has made himself right at home like hes been here for years. He goes everywhere with me and my other dog Meisha and they are already getting along like brother and sister. They sleep together in our bed(squish). I have a daycare and everyone who comes in says he's a good looking dog and well behaved with the children. We are working on his training at home and he is starting obedience training after the holidays. He's definately one of the family and we love him.

12/18/10 - Ozzie has been adopted!

10/12/10 - From Ozzie: My Halloween wish list (i can't wait for Christmas)
i need a big fenced in back yard where i can run as fast and as long as i want.
i need another boxer to live with....to rumble and play with.
i need a trashcan WITH A LID (i am so bad when i see an open trash can)
i need kids to love on and kiss on, no preference as to little girls or boys.
i need lots of toys i can chew on, toss in the air and drag around the house ( i have been told that my foster mom's sneakers, her leather wallet, paint stir sticks and a plastic jar of fish food are not on the "list to chew".
i need a family that understands I'm living my second child hood since i spent my first one locked up in a kennel 24/7.

From Foster:
I took Ozzie to the Pet Expo a couple of weeks ago and I couldn't have been more pleased or proud to have Ozzie meeting the general public. He kissed, wiggled and danced his way for over 500 adults and kids and never flinched with a new face. He wanted to play with every dog from a Yorkie to a Great Dane . He even tried several times to befriend the greyhounds next to us, but they were too stoic.
l need to address the whole "early renal failure" diagnosis that he was given on our last trip to the vets. This is not a life threatening health crisis but rather a type of medical condition that can be managed like diabetes, allergies, thyroidism, or heart worm.  For the past month he has been getting a powdered supplement called Epakitin and is eating Purina NF dog food. Both are a prescription written by the vet and after searching the net for the best prices I found that my vet can get the food for him for $70.00 for a 37.5lb bag which lasts almost a month and the Epakitin from a pet store on line that will cost as extra $25.00 a month. These changes in his diet have made a NOTICEABLE difference in his water intake, which has had a direct effect on his "accidents" in house. I still crate him when I leave the house, just to make sure and the first thing i do when i come home is to let him out. Every thing seems to be copacetic with these changes. In a couple of days I'm going to take him back to the vet to have urine tested and blood drawn which will give a more complete story as to his progress.
To sum it all up ...Ozzie would have been easy one to give up on if it wasn't for the fact that he is soooooooo lovable and each day he craves to make up for the time he lost being in a crate with no stimulation or adventure. It's hysterical to watch him run his face thru the pony tail palm plant i have because he likes the way it tickles his face or when i open up a lower cupboard he has to stick his big head inside as if he was picking out what kind of cereal he should get for breakfast. This is a very loving, sociable, and affectionate dog that, with a little extra expense every month, will bring a family great joy and happiness for years.

9/15/10 - Sadly Ozzie is back in rescue already to find his new home.  Ozzie had been drinking excessively & peeing a lot ever since he got to his new foster home. She took him in last Friday for a urine test that showed no infection so they did blood work.  His new home adopted him on Sunday hoping his bloodwork would come back okay and just be a behavioral issue.  The tests came back Monday morning and Ozzie is in early renal failure.  He is recommended to be put on some type of dry dog food that is specifically formulated for dogs with kidney disease.   The family thought long and hard about what to do, they really loved Ozzie but decided it was in everyone's best interest to return him to find a more appropriate home that could take on his medical condition and costs.  Will you give Ozzie his home to enjoy the rest of his life with you?

- Ozzie was adopted!

8/2/10 - Hi it's me Ozzie. Foster mom said I should try doing my own up date since her updates haven't gotten me adopted yet. So where do I start, Hmmmm lets see. I really like it here. I dont have to be in my crate all the time like I did before and I can go in and out when ever I want. I love to play with the basket of toys and chew on bones, which are my favorite. FM takes me on walks and one day this guy said I was a very handsome boy, Aww thanks thats nice to hear. I can't seem to get the hang of the slippery floor in the kitchen though. I slide around and some times I fall down and get scared. Fm says im a little clumbsy. There are two boys who live here and I love them. They run with me and keep throwing a ball and saying "go get it boy" even though I have no idea what they are talking about. But I still have fun. I dont get on the furniture and I sleep in my crate at night, I like it in there and I feel safe. Fm says I don't counter surf and I'm a good boy and eat all my food. I'm just waiting for my special family to pick me up. Don't get me wrong,my fm is great and she takes good care of me, but I know my forever family is out there some where. Is it you? Give fm a call and say you will come get me. K? Thanks, Sincerly the OZ Man.

- What a great boy the OZ man has become! He is doing so great. He is no problem at all. He has totally learned our routine here.Oz loves to eat and has no food agression what so ever. He likes our walks and does great. He still sleeps in his crate at night but im sure soon I will let him sleep with us upstairs. He loves to play and really entertains himself well. I took him to visit my mom over the weekend she lives out in farm land, he got to meet her dog  and a few cats who live there and did fantastic. Oz just sniffed the cats and kept on going. The cats did hiss at him when he got too close, but it didnt hurt his feelings, he knew to back off. All I can say is he is a wonderful boy who just wants to be loved.. We do here.

7/6/10 - Oz man cane through his neuter just fine. He also has hook worms and she had to pull 3 teeth that were rotten. But other than that he is in great health. They all loved him and said he was a perfect patient. So he is all ready to go to his forever home.

7/1/10 - I know I just did a update but I have to tell you how great this boy is doing. Its amazing to me that all he has been through how super he is doing.  First of all hes playing with toys, (When he got here im sure he had never seen a toy) He takes them all out of the basket and has a great time. He also goes up and down the stairs with out being coaxed. Hes a little clumsy but thats how I know where he is. Then Last night he made me so proud. It was doggie bath night and he jumped right in the tub for me. Before he was so scared he would shake and almost stand on his toes. YAY Ozzie!!!!!!!!! I cant tell you how glad and happy I am for him to be doing so well. Just wanted to share the wonderful strides this boy is making.

6/28/10 - The Oz man is doing sooo much better here. He is really destressing and fitting in to the life of a couch potato. He loves to be with people and to just be loved. He will come over to me and lay his head on me as if he is saying " thank you for taking good care of me "  No more accidents in the house, he is learning the routine here. He loves his crate and dosent mind being in there. Most of the time he will be either laying on the couch with the boys or on the floor at my feet. We are working on going up the stairs. Step one treat, step two treat and ect... He will have the hang of it in no time. He will be neutered on July 5th then he will be already to go to his forever home. He just needs some tlc and some patience to be a wonderful boy.

6/13/10
- What a long weekend here in PA. Dog transport, yard sale, birthday stuff and a parade.Im tired!!!  Ozzie is a very handsome boy. He is still very stressed, almost like he has no idea what he is supposed to do with himself. Im sure with time he will be just fine. He had a nice bath and to my suprise he didnt have one flea on him. He is learning that he needs to pee out side, hes a fast learner. He will sit for me but no other tricks yet. He walks great on a leash or a harness. Ozzie gets along great with the resident dogs here. He will be a wonderful friend once he figures out life as a loved pet. He is very friendly and full of wiggles. He has the biggest nub Ive ever seen. Ill update more as he settles in.
THE WIZ OF OZZ-man!
He makes food magically disappear-levitates himself out side and with the wave of a hand, he heads for his crate!
