UPDATE 3/15/10 - Melina is doing very well in her new home! Sorry I haven't updated her! The first tow days she peed twice in the house, but since then has done a great job waiting til she gets outside. The cats are very comfortable with her, although she really doesn't care about them one way or the other. She did run after the outdoor bunny once....it wasn't so much chasing as running in the same direction. She LOVES the dog park! She doesn't care so much about other dogs very often, but she greets everyone and checks out what kind of back scratchers they are! People are always telling us what a nice personality she has, very sweet...she avoids all doggie conflicts at the park, but does stand up and "box" if she gets picked on "Go Melina!". She got to meet up with her foster family when they came to our town, and she saw her old foster siblings. She doesn't know it yet, but we would like to be a foster family too, so she may have to share the big pink stuffed chair she has claimed as her  bed.....

1/15/10 - Melina has been adopted!

Melina continues to do great here at her fosterhome. She loves to burrow under blankets to stay warm and she seems to be a nightly dreamer. Squeaky toys are a hit with her. Not sure she's overly keen on the snow as she tends to avoid it and looks for areas to walk in the yard/driveway without it. She's a sweetheart and would love to have a permanent home.

Melina continues to be a wonderful house guest. I sure hope her age doesn't put people off from considering her. She definitely seems younger than 10. She'll play with toys and some with the other dogs. The squeaky toys are her favorite. Her coat is beautiful and she's got the sweetest face. Give her brussel sprouts and she's very happy. She'd make a great companion for someone without a lot of room, remember she's little. Give her some serious consideration, she'll be worth it.

Hi all! Melina here. Wanted to let everyone know that I am still waiting for my permanent retirement home to come along. I thought of something that I haven't mentioned before, I'm a quiet dog as I haven't barked once since I've been here. The other dogs bark, but not me. Also, my itchies are under control. I had yeast in my ears and between my toes but it's been cleaned up and I feel grand.
Even though I've said that I'm spunky, I'm still 10 and enjoy my naps. Just don't want anyone to think that I am constantly full of energy. In fact in the morning, I love to sleep in til about 7 a.m.
Up here in Maine I've been sporting my outdoor coat as I'm not used to this kind of cold. Just put the coat on me and I'll gladly go for a walk.
That's all for now. Thanks for checking me out.

Melina here....just wanted to let you know that I am so spunky for a 10 year old. Don’ let my age put you off besides I just turned 10 this past summer. I got to spend time at a ME lake this past week and loved it. The people here found out that I really do like to be outside....sunbathing, chasing sticks, and taking walks down country lanes. I really dig the people guy here at the house and when he went out in his boat, I decided to jump in the water after him. Well guess what, I can swim! But the best part of all, my knight in shining armor (people guy) jumped in and rescued me. It was all a trick to get him to hold me in his arms. Remember, I don’t take up much room so see if you can squeeze me into your life. You won’t be disappointed.

Little update on little Melina. She was spayed this past week and all shots are up to date. Also a few lumps removed. She’s doing great and looking forward to a family to share her
experiences with. She’s a sweetie.

Little Melina here. I wanted to let everyone know more about me. I am 10 years old, have the cutest face, a beautiful coat, and am very petite. I’m enjoying the Maine fresh air when I go for walks and I walk great on the leash; otherwise being outside doesn’t overly interest me. It’s fun to keep the toys away from the other dogs in the house but if they don’t try to get them from me, then I don’t play with the toys much. The other dogs here are chow hounds when it’s eating time, but not me.....I take my time and eat like a lady. My tail wags alot and giving me pets and kisses make happy. I’ve got itchies and the people here are trying to help me with it; this morning I got the best body message that helped keep me from itching more. Will be getting spayed and shots up to date in just a few weeks. I’m a houseguest here and would love to find someone special who’s ready to enjoy my senior years with me.

Melina’s been with us a week now so we’ve gotten to know her a bit better. She got a good scrubbing and nails done the first night and she was so easy going about the whole process. She’s also pretty playful for a 10 year old. Melina’s enjoying going for daily walks and is pretty good on the leash. She hasn’t had any problems with the resident dogs either. She’s being treated for a Urinary Tract Infection at the moment as is Vito; then once that’s clear we can get her up to date with shots. Don’t let her age keep you from considering her.

- Meet Melina. She arrived in ME on Sunday afternoon after a long journey from NJ. She and Vito are owner surrenders. Melina is a little peanut and has a beautiful brindle coat. Since she’s been here, it’s apparent that she is pretty spunky for her age. She rode well in the car and has enjoyed some walks. I’ll write more as we get to know this little one. Seniors make wonderful companions, so give her some serious consideration. More pictures to come too.
