| UPDATE 8/27/10 - Time for our one week update. After typing in update dates into dozens of contracts over the last year I am so excited to be writing my first update! Marvin is doing super-duper fantastic. He is 100% puppy, and thus we are totally exhausted. He was neutered and finished up the last of his puppy shots on Wednesday. Things went well and he was raring to go less than 24 hours post surgery. He had gained 6 pounds since he first came in as a foster. 6 pounds in 2 weeks! I thought only I could accomplish that kind of weight gain.
He is getting a hang of the whole, we don’t pee inside thing more and more each day. He doesn’t start his training class until September 11th but has already learned “sit” and with the help of a treat “down.” I have always said that our boxer girl Maddie was the worlds best dog – but we now have to say she is the world’s best girl because Marvin is the world’s best boy. Thanks SCBR!! 8/20/10 - Marvin has been adopted! 8/16/10 - Quick note to let you all know how Silas and Marvin, aka the White Wonder Twins are doing. We continue to be completely astonished at the magnitude of cuteness these boys posses. They are doing great. The play joyfully, sleep like logs, and eat and drink like linebackers. They had a vet appointment this morning and Dr. Nasr said they are both in great health. They had their nails clipped (yeah!! so many scratches on me from those skinny long nails) and he took a stool sample. They had vaccinations just before coming into rescue so their next (and last) round of puppy shots will be due next week. These boys have made quite an impression in our building. They are all anyone can talk about. I had 3 kids in the apartment yesterday (none my own) writing and shooting a movie with a little flip camera about "The Boxers of 40 OP" (Our address is 40 Ocean Parkway.) It was starring our 3 year old boxer Maddie and introducing Marvin and Silas. It was hilarious! 8/14/10 - Marvin is sweet like candy. Smushy and mushy and soft. From the moment I first met him he was interested in being in my lap and snuggling.. He is curious and inquisitive but out of no where will flop down on the floor with all four legs spread out and have a snooze. He loves to play tug and wrestle with our 3 year old boxer girl. No one was attempting to house break this boy before he came into rescue so it is a new idea for him but he is quick to go potty as soon as we are outside. (Of course he is quick to go potty inside too, but I am trying to accentuate the positive....meanwhile he pretty much eliminates all the time!) He needs to be brought up to date on his shots but as soon as that happens he will be ready for his forever home. |
