| UPDATE 7/14/10 - Mack continues to do well in his "bubble" here at home. He is such a follower! He follows us everywhere. He met my daughter, Lori, for the first time and took to her right away. When we leave home, Mack is not so good though. Walks are always an adventure. Mack tends to freak out at every dog and person he sees. His last trainer didn't think Mack was "taking to the program" (as she put it) so we're trying a new one. We'll see how that goes~ UPDATE 6/13/10 - Mack is really settling in now. He's getting used to his routine and is becoming a member of the family. We've had our ups and downs but mostly he is a sweet dog who is eager to please. He will do anything for a Snausage! He loves his walks every day and is getting much better on the leash but is not so good when he sees other dogs. We're working on that. The trainer has decided he's not ready for group classes, but needs some private training first. He loves to play in the back yard with Ellie and is learning to not be quite so rough. Mostly, they get along pretty well. UPDATE 5/21/10 - Mack has been here a week and is adjusting beautifully. He's already made himself quite at home, lying on the couch and sleeping in my daughter's bed. He seems to just fit right in. He has met Ellie, our seven year old, and they are pretty good at playing together. She can be such a brat and he tolerates her really well! They love to tease each other with toys. Although Mack goes in his crate when we leave the house, he is upstairs with Ellie most of the day. We feel really lucky to have found Mack. He is such a sweetheart, a gentle giant that just had never really been given a chance. I know he has some issues walking on a leash but we think this is something that we can work on. He is so smart and learns quickly. I really think he knows he's staying here. 5/15/10 - Mack has been adopted! 5/4/10 - Hi all, Mack here! Foster mom asked me to write my own update because clearly she isn't doing me any favors. I don't know why she doesn't write something great to get me my own family. I really have been enjoying life here the last couple of months, but I would really like to settle in to a home of my own before beach season gets here. I love to lay in the sun and to be able to do that in my own home would bethe BEST. I was just telling foster mom that this morning. There I was just hanging in the yard with my doogies (that's what I call my foster brothers) minding my own business catching some rays. Here comes FM yelling for us to come in. I'm like, "what, already?? I just settled into my spot!" She keeps calling us, the other two get up and run in like she is going to pop a blood vessel or something. Not me. I keep on soaking up those rays. Ahhhhh! You know what I mean? I love to lay in the grass listening to the birds. Oh yeah, so there she goes again "MACK, MACK..." I'm laying there thinking she just doesn't get it what more could a guy ask for the birds the bees, the sun the trees... The next thing I know, she is standing beside me with a hand full of liver treats. Okay, I love the sun as much and the next doogie, but who can resist those liver treats?? YUP! Up I go bookin it for the house just as quick as I can right down those stairs and into my crate. Now I'm waiting... What is taking her so long?? Oh yeah, she does only have two legs. I guess I can understand how that would make her slower. She gives me my liver treat pats me on the head and closes the door to my crate. She says something about having to go to work. I'm not sure where that place is but it seems like whenever I'm having a good time she decides to go there. When my two legged foster brother got home from school (another place I don't know why they go, but that is another story) I get to go back out in the yard for a bit. You guessed it, by then the sun was gone and the wet stuff and coming down!! I have to say I am not a fan of the wet stuff. I can only hope for more sun tomorrow. I'm hoping my real family will have more time to play with me, chill and soak up the sun. So if you like big bowls of water, Stayin out of the rain, If you're not into small dogs, If you have half a brain, If you like playing ball at midnight, In the yard or the park. Then I'm the doggie you've looked for Apply for me and adopt. Hee, Hee, Hee. Yeah, so I like that song . Anyway, I'm really a great boy once you get to know me. You will see that too. Hope to meet you soon. Love Mack 2/24/10 - Well, Mack was adopted and returned once again. I'm sorry to say I'm a little disappointed for him. He is a dog that needs time to adjust to new situations and dogs. Unfortunately he has not found a home that can do that for him yet. Mack plays really well with our 4 year old boxer and our Newfoundland. My older female boxer tolerates his 2 year old boxer boy antics too. We have a new foster Chloe who has been with us for a little over two weeks now. She had surgery to remove her front leg due to a severe infection. Mack has been fine with her whenever they meet. (Chloe is not allowed to play yet.) Mack just seems to need time to get to know other dogs before he jumps right in to play. Honestly he is one of most pethe ople friendly fosters we have had in a while. We had a party here on Saturday night and he was so happy to meet and greet everyone. You would have thought they had all come to meet him. We feel Mack is a typical outgoing boxer boy who need a home where someone has the time and energy to let him fit into his new life slowly. Mack is going to make someone a super loyal companion when he finds the right family to give him is second chance. Could that be yours? 2/21/10 - Web chick's note: I met Mr. Mack last night. He has to be one of the friendliest dogs I've met. He was in a room full of strangers and couldn't wait to be all of our newest best friend!!! He's a typical young boxer, full of energy that's hard to contain. That's what we love about Boxers! He's a big love and full of wiggles! His nub wouldn't stop, so I decided to get a video. As soon as I switched the camera to video, he sat down and I had to settle for this picture of him lying on the rug..... turkey! 2/6/10 - Mack is back. It did not work out with his last home. He is not good with cats and they have a cat. So he is still waiting for a family of his own to come along, and is waiting as patiently as a 2 year old boxer can. 1/17/10 - Mack is ajusting well. He is eating better now and no longer needs a push to go in his crate, you just tell him to be a good boy and he will go right in. He has started to play with toys here. When we crate him at night and go to bed he barks for a few minutes but stops when he releizes that we have gone to bed too. Mack has met our dogs and gets along well with all of them so we can have him out of his crate more. Mack has to be in in his crate during the day when we are at school, but since he is good with our other dogs he can be out all the time we are home. We have learned that he knows sit, paw, and stay and our working on more commands. He does not mind walking in the snow and has been making trails through the snow in the yard. Mack is very friendly towards everyone he has met so far, it seems he does not have a mean bone in his body. He walks well on a leash but perfers the yard where he has room to run and play. Mack likes to play catch with the tennis ball. He is eating alot better now and empties his dish in 5 or 10 minutes. He is always happy to see you when you come home or wake up in the morning. Mack also knows how to smile and has thankfully has ethier not learned how to beg or restrains himself from begging. Mack is waiting for a nice family of his own to come along, could that be you? 1/13/10 - We Picked Mack up from our local shelter yesterday, he could not get out of there soon enough. He was calm and probably would have stayed calm had a train not passed by that he took interest in. He wanted to chase the train rather then find a place to go to the bathroom and then jump into the car. Once the train passed he settled down again and got in the car. He was not sure where he was going and seemed a little scared. When he got out of the car at our house he loved the big yard. He is not eating much at the moment but then most dogs don't until they get used to the new place. He will probably start eating well in the next few days. He goes into his crate but does not really like to and needs a push, but he is quite in the crate. He seems to be a really normal and lovable dog. |
