| UPDATE 7/9/10 - Hello
It has been a while since my last update. We have been having so much fun with Jeter. I can't remember a time without him. Jeter is so well behaved. We took him to my parent's house for the 4th of July and he was wonderful with my cousin's children. Jeter is still not a fan of the crate. We are working on this but while we are at work he goes to a wonderful doggy daycare. When I walk him over in the morning he gets so excited and can't wait to play with his friends. Because it has been so hot even in the mornings we haven't been able to take Jeter on runs, but we'll go for 2 hour works early in the morning before it gets too warm. Jeter loves being outside and he's so good that when we come to each street corner he sits, sometimes without me having to ask. People stop us along the way to say how handsome he is. Jeter is just the most loving dog I've ever met. He thinks he's a lap dog and loves to cuddle with us, which we love. We've been going to obedience classes and all the other families tell us how well behaved he is. We tell them that Jeter is great, the obedience training is more for Jim and I :-). Jim and I are so lucky to have had the opportunity to have Jeter be part of our lives. UPDATE 5/17/10 - I know our update isn't due until Saturday but I just can't wait to tell you about Jeter. My husband and I are just in love with this pup. Having a name like Jeter and living in Red Sox Nation is no easy task but with a face like his even the most die hard of Bahstonians are melting in his paw. He just wants to lean on people and get a good belly rub. He's so mellow and easy going. He just wants to be loved and play. He's already made friends with Max the black lab on our street and our friends dog, Kaba. He just loves making new doggy buddies. He doesn't show any interest in our neighbor's cats or the birds and squirrels bouncing around. He's been scratching his ears and head so I'm taking him to the vet on Wednesday to make sure he's okay. The obedience school asked us to observe his behavior for a week before we bring him in. Other than staring at you for food and hating his crate he's been great. We have not used the crate but we did test it out and he's wasn't happy. Its not an issue for now as he comes to work with me now and he can sleep on his doggy bed at night. Jim and I feel so lucky that Jeter found us. Already he has made our lives richer with love. 5/15/10 - Jeter has been adopted! 5/11/10 - Jeter has been here a few days now. What a nice boy he is. Jeter has gotten along great with all 4 dogs here. He just wants to play. He is not to fond of the crate and will bark non stop for awhile but eventually will fall asleep. He seems to be fine uncrated, settles down on the dog bed and never makes a peep all night. He has never had an accident in the house. Jeter thrives on attention and will do what you ask of him. Jeter meet a few chickens yesterday and showed no interest in chasing them, which is unlike the resident dogs. Jeter will be neutered on Thursday and then ready for his forever home. He needs to put on a few pounds which should be really easy with his appetite. This cute boy will not be around long. 5/8/10 - Jeter arrived at his foster home today after one heck of a trip from NJ. He was an owner surrender due to the family having to move and not being able to take him. He's a happy guy who wanted to play with every dog that walked by us in the rest area. He was super on the ride home, even with the occasional attempt to sit on our laps in the front seats. He even curled up in the driver's seat to nap and wait for us to do some shopping. THAT earned him a trip to the drive-thru to get a burger. I thought he was going to wiggle out of his skin! What a special guy. On top of that, look how gorgeous he is!!!! 5/3/10 - Jeter is a happy, energetic boy! He's only been here a few hours, but he is very well mannered. He's not a jumper or counter surfer (at least not in front of me). We were eating lunch and he wanted nothing but a pat on the head. He's fine with my 8 year old son, and my 4 year old daughter, and he is having a fabulous time running with my Jack Russell, "Lily". I'm not sure which one is happier! He did try to lift his leg on my coffee table, but once he's snipped, I'm sure that will stop. Other than that, he has done all his business outside. He's only staying with me until tomorrow, which may be a good thing, or else my husband would consider trading him in for Rosco. Jeter hardly sheds compared to my white boy. |
