UPDATE 3/15/11 - WOW....Three months already. Jasmine has become such a part of the family you would have thought she was here from a little puppy.  But then a gain she is like the baby in the house even though there is a 8month old baby in the house too.  After a few issues with agression with her bones she is now perfectly fine with sharing anything she may have.  Sometime I think she forgets she is a dog LOL... when the kids are in the back playing tag she joins right in. I think if she could get on the swings with them she would. On the other hand when Jasmine is in the house she is such a lazy girl, she will lay around all day. We cant wait for nwarmer weather so we can take her swimming and for longer walks in the woods. She is definatley more than the perfect addition to our family.

UPDATE 12/27/10 - In one word PERFECT! I have to say we could not have picked a more perfect match for our family. At first Jasmine had a little unsettled belly which resolved over a few days, once she became more comfortable. She is such a lover! She adjusted so quickly to our family it is like she was always here. I think eventhough I am the Mom of the house, the kids are her favorite. She loves to do my nightly rounds with me and tuck the kids in and give them their good night kisses LOL. When they get up in the morning for school you can tell she starts to get sad they are leaving for the day, but once that bus comes in the afternoon her liitle nub is going crazy. Everynight its a battle between the kids on who she is sleeping with. Thanks again Second Chance.

12/19/10 - Jasmine has been adopted!

12/11/10-First, before I tell you more about Jasmine, I have to tell a funny story.  My kids decided to play veterinarian this cold Saturday morning and guess who their first patient was.  Yes, Jasmine was their 9:15 appointment!  They had her laying on her dog bed and used the play doctor kit to check her ears and heart and teeth and everything else they could think of.  They told her she had to pay a dollar and then realized she had no money so my Daughter said "Miss, please get off the table, your turn is over!"  As you can see Jasmine is very tolerant of children!

Jasmine does well with one submissive male dog companion.  If she is with another dog she needs one who is super submissive and non-threatening to her precious ego.  With dominant dogs she gets very defensive when it comes to her food and toys.  I also think to place her with another female would not be in her best interest due to the fact that she likes to be treated like the true princess she is, and only one can sit on the throne and wear the crown.  To put it in simpler terms she likes a lot of attention and would get jealous!  She probably would do well as an only dog but likes playing with another dog to satiate her high energy appetite.  I think in time a companion could also help her adapt to being home alone.

She does not like being left alone.  Jasmine does not like being left for long periods of time.  I think she just needs to be able to predict and adapt to a schedule and feel like she belongs.  She seems to do much better uncrated and has much less anxiety with another dog around.  She is never destructive but does have an occasional accident.  I also think she would do best in a scenario where she could sleep at night with or close by a family member.  This gives her a real sense of security and has been one of the keys to her continuing progress.

Pee/Poop accidents are always limited to her anxiety of being shunned.  She is very social, craves attention and does not like being baby gated, crated or isolated from the family.  She does not bark or protest the crate she just feels lonely.  We are makes great strides with shorter intervals and yummy peanut butter distractions in her crate but total success will take time, patience and understanding.  I also changed her food and it has made a big difference.  The grain free food She came here on was just going right through her.  This has cut way down on accidents when I crate her to almost non-existence.  We are now mainly dealing with some occasional pee issues when she just wants to be with you and get your affection.  I have to say we have made major progress here!

Jasmine just needs time, attention and love and you will see this precious gem shine.  Princess Jasmine is my little "Diamond in the Rough."  But you need to hurry and apply.  Her Birthday is on December 30th and she needs a "Princess Party".  She told me that all she wants for her birthday is to close her eyes, wave her paw in the air, make a wish and have all her dreams come true.  Jasmine's dreams are to get a second chance with a family who will love her forever!

12/7/10-So I woke up at 6 this morning.  I let foster Jasmine sleep in the kitchen last night on her dog bed.  Now my 3 year old son has not been sleeping well and has been waking up every night and coming into our room at about 2am.  Well, this morning when I went into the kitchen there was Jasmine and my son all snuggled up together on the dog bed like two bugs in a rug. He even covered her with his blankie.  I tried to get a good picture but of course the battery was out of my camera being charged and here I was fumbling trying to get it.

12/5/10 -Jasmine was surrendered by her family due to her atmosphere not being suitable for her high energy level.   She lived with kids aged 1 and 5 and said to be great with them. She arrived with us early this afternoon and played outside in our fenced yard non-stop for 2 hours with the 3 resident boxers.  Once she expelled all her energy she came into the house and was very calm and seemed to enjoy laying on her bed in the kitchen with everyone around.  She is soaking up all the attention she is getting including love from the children and  toddlers.  Jasmine goes into her crate with no problems and does not make a sound.  She has signaled to me when she needs to go outside and knows sit, paw, down and she also rolls over.  So fill out your application, Jasmine is waiting to come "home for the holidays."
