UPDATE 7/12/10 - Our computer was in the shop for 2 weeks and we are  getting caught up on things.  Gypsy has been with us for alittle over three weeks now.  She has adjusted to her new home and family and we love her very much.  We had to take her to the vet after she had been with us for two weeks due to non-stop diarrhea.  We thought it was due to all the changes, but the vet discovered she  had "hook-worm."   Her meds are in three cycles that last for 6 weeks.  Thus, we have had to cancel her obedience classes until after the 6 weeks are completed.  The diarrhea has finally stopped and we all are able to sleep through the night without having to make a run for the potty outside.  The bald-spot that Gypsy had by her tail is almost completely grown in with new hair! July 4th was not a good thing for Gypsy.  There were plenty of fireworks in our neighborhood.  We don't set them off, but alot of our neighbors do.  It seems all the noise from the fire works really scared our girl.  It has se t her back some.  She is afraid to go outside.  It is a real fight sometimes to get her out, but with love and patience she will conquer this as well.  Spending most of her time in a breeding mill damaged our Gypsy girl, but love, time, obedience classes and prayer will only draw out all the best in her.  Each day that passes by and each new hurdle overcome, just makes life sweeter with Gypsy.  Gypsy says thank-you for a second chance!  Gypsy will be on vacation at the Chesapeake Bay from July 25 - 31 and promises to send plenty of pics!

UPDATE 6/26/10 - Dear Friends,
It has been a week since we have adopted Gypsy.  She is a very special girl who is loved by all of us.  It has been a real adjustment for her being rescued from a breeding mill, to foster parents, to her permanent home.  Gypsy is slowly settling in and getting used to her new home. She has freedom in our home and is even allowed to sleep with us!  We are working on trying to build her body weight up, she is under weight.  Over time this will improve.  We have taken her to Petco and Pet Smart and she loves both stores.  One of the items we purchased for her was a collar that says, 'Unconditional Love."  Gypsy definitely has unconditional love, even after all she has been through.  We too, have unconditional love for her.  She is a God send.  Obedience classes begin soon and we will update all of you when we have something to report.  On a funny note, when we take her for a walk she walks us and she decides when it is time to come in.  After spending all that time in a breeding   mill how can you tell her she can't be outside to long?  :)
Gypsy sends her thanks along with ours and we promise to stay in touch.  Pictures will come too!

6/19/10 - I was adopted today!

6/12/10 -
Gypsy decided  today was the last time everyone would go upstairs without her darn it!!! After never seeing stairs in her entire 2 years of life, and after several attempts of trying to get up these things called stairs, she joined FM at the computer with all the resident pups! SURPRISE!!  Then she fell sleepy sleepy nite nite next to FM while I updated her profile.  We figured out this thing called a leash... don't you pull me and I will follow you, sometimes wanting to run.... but hey, it's a learning process. Also, today.. the resident dogs realized that the neighbors had company pull up (they never bark at the neighbors) the resident dogs ran up to the fence and gave a couple "warning barks". AND THEN.... Miss Gypsy did the same --  she barked for the first time!!!! Not overkill, but in true Boxer style, just enough to get her point across.
We have had only 1 or 2 accidents  in the house, by the back door,  FM's fault, likely... just need to be aware of what she's doing.  All other "duties" have been done outside... no other accidents.  FM likes to relax sometimes on the couch with a boxer at the end of the day & watch TV, so now does Gypsy. Miss Gypsy has an appointment Tues 6/15/10 for her spay. I'll will wait with her until she falls asleep for this so she wont be afraid. She is super sweet and deserves a forever family that will give her some time outside to play with toys, run, let her "kiss their non-fur babies", watch TV w/the family, someone who will give her some attention. Just remember, she is a Boxer and all Boxers are Velcro Boxers, right behind you NO matter WHAT you are doing, dishes, laundry, bathroom w/the door open. She is learning about EVERYTHING for the first time... She is worthy of the only the BEST Forever Home that includes her in everything they do.

6/9/10 -
Well Gypsy went to the doctor on Tues 6/8/10 and is Negative for heartworm.  She's alergic to flea bites that she must have gotten at the breeder, she has an area on her butt that is itchy and flaky...no one wants an itchy/flaky butt, so her Foster Mom is bathing her with special shampoo and using Frontline and Revolution to keep any Fleas away from her.  Already there is less scratching.  Got to meet FP'S Grandbaby who is 19mos old, love, Loved, LOVED the baby, had to follow him around and be a complete "Velcro Boxer". So we've updated YES to children under 4yrs.  Gypsy is "loping" around the fenced in yard like a young Philly... with a big ole smile on her and really appreciate the toys in the yard.  She's a little timid on eating, you have to invite her to eat, she has zero food aggression. She will be spayed as of the 10th, and then she's ready for you!

6/7/10 -
Gypsy arrived at her Foster Mom & Dad's today.  She loves Loves LOVES  the big back yard & the 3 other dogs in the house, her foster brothers & sister.  You wouldn't know it by meeting her, but Gypsy didn't know what a yard was, toys or even the run of the house.  She started life in a Breeder's home & lived in a transport crate all the time. Just like the other dogs.  No toys were found in the home at all.  When she was taken to the pound she was soooo scared she had no idea what to think. She was very sweet to everyone at this place called the pound. (The breeder was closed down by the NY state authorities- click here to see the story.)
Once the transporters pulled out of the pound's driveway, Gypsy scooted up to the front of the car on her belly, wanting to get closer to these new folks.  After that she was was right as rain!!  She travels fantastic in the car. Once she got to Foster Parents or "FP's" as she calls us now, she was let loose in the fenced yard with the soft grass, she started to run and run with a big smile. Oh, Oh, and rolling in the soft grass was super awesome! She did not know right away what toys were for, but within a couple hours, she was running with the squeeky ball playing with the other dogs.  She's good in the house, all potty has been done outside so far, no accidents in the house.  We had a bath the first day and she was great in the tub. (Getting your head rubbed with a towel is highly recommended!) The cats walked up to her, no big deal, they look way too small to play with.  She has an appointment with the Vet for her check up then soon after that she will be spayed.  No more puppies for this gal!  She's got a forever home to take care of soon!  More after our vet visit.
