| UPDATE 7/1/10 - Just a quick update on the Cash Man! We are about to wrap up obedience class soon. Our trainer has prepped him to take the AKC’s Canine Good Citizen Test once we’re done. Now that Cash’s skin irritations are somewhat under control he has been showing signs of being bored when left at home so we are working on getting him into Doggie Daycare once or twice a week. Just need a kennel cough vaccination and he’ll be good to go play with new friends. Cash continues to be a loyal companion, always wanting to be at our sides and going everywhere with us. He loves his weekly visit to Grammy’s house, where she has spoiled him with his very own doggie bed and bowls. The compliments on Cash’s good manners continue to pour in from everyone we meet; he is loved by all. We’ll be sure to keep in touch. Thanks for continuing to do such great things for all the boxers out there SCBR! UPDATE 5/28/10 - Cash here! I have to say that my new forever home is amazing! I get to ride in a car all of the time because my moms love me so much and want to take me everywhere with them! Sometimes we go to the Dog Wash so that I can get squeaky clean. I love it there. I just stand in my tub while I get washed with special soap so that my skin doesn’t bother me as much. I love the warm water and the clean feeling afterwards. One time we took a long ride and I got to play at the beach in the sand! I also met lots of other doggy friends and had a great time hanging out with all of them. Mom says that I have great manners with my friends and that everyone is always asking me over for play dates! My skin is doing much better. I am taking some medicine with my favorite peanut butter and it helps me to stop scratching at myself, it also helps me to sleep better at night too! I am learning how to walk better on a leash and to leave things alone when we pass by them. I am also learning how to wait patiently before getting out of the car and how to lie down. When I do all of these things, my mom is very proud of me and sometimes I get a treat! My obedience teacher loves to hear about how well I am doing at home when we go to class. I try real hard to pay attention. I also get to go to a dog park nearby and play with lots of other pups like me! We run around and get really tired together! I can’t wait to go again and make more friends. One of my favorite things to do is to lie down on the couch next to my moms at night. We watch TV together and cuddle next to each other. I fall asleep so fast because it feels so good to be loved on. It is safe to say that I am having a ball at my new forever home and am so glad that I have a family to call my own. UPDATE 4/29/10 - It’s been a month since we picked up our handsome man Cash. Time has just flown by! We are happy to report that Cash is very attached to us already. I guess you could say that he knows we are his forever family/home and that we love him with all our hearts. Cash has the best manners on a leash during walks and while meeting new friends. He never makes a mess in the house and he even lets our cat sniff him when he’s standing still. We just signed up for obedience class which starts this weekend. We are looking forward to getting some new ideas of things to work on with him since we already spend 5-10 minutes almost every night doing tricks and we don’t know what else to teach him. Cash has an itchy skin problem that we are currently diagnosing. Our vet was very pleased to see we had already put him on a kibble that is grain-free and contains just fish and potatoes. We are hoping that he just has a food allergy. We’ll be giving this diet a good 6-12 weeks and see wher e it takes us. In the meantime the vet has put him on some medicine to help stop the itching and it seems to be working. Maybe now he’ll stop chewing all his fur off and let his skin heal. Cash loves to go for car rides! Every time we pick up the car keys he comes running for the door, bolts out of the house and stands in between our cars waiting as patiently has his wiggle butt with allow until we pick a car and let him in. We can’t understand why he likes to ride in the car so much. He doesn’t like the wind in his face and most of the time he just takes a nap in the backseat. I guess he just likes to spend time with us. We are getting really excited for this weekend. We have a wedding on Cape Cod and will be down there for three days. Cash will get to meet all of our friends and all of their dogs too! He’ll have 6 new dog friends to play with. Hopefully Cash can watch and learn how to play fetch just like the rest of the gang. (Sometimes he goes and gets the ball but he very gives it back to us.) We are also excited to take him to the beach. The letter we received about Cash from his previous owner states that he likes to swim, so we’ll give it a try! Even with Cash’s skin problems we love him to pieces! We wouldn’t trade him for anything. Thanks SCBR! Until next month! UPDATE 4/4/10 - I think the two of us feel like we have hit the jackpot with Cash! We are so proud to call this perfect little gentleman ours. He has the best manners no matter what the situation. We've even had an obedience trainer ask us to consider taking the Canine Good Citizen test and using Cash as a therapy dog. He loves to go for a ride with us anywhere, so we've been taking him everywhere! We think Cash is a little depressed cause sometimes we have a hard time getting him to eat. But we are working really hard on that and making progress. He is great about getting his ear drops and taking his pills in a little ball of peanut butter. Now if only we could get him to stop scratching so much. He makes a great couch potato and an even better walking companion. Although he stops a lot to stare at cars. He loves our porch and is happy to just sit and stare at the neighbors. He hasn't been overly playful but we're guessing he doesn't have the most energy since he hasn't been eating as muc h as he should. Over all though we just can't complain. He is learning our routine and already seems very attached to us. Until next time. 3/28/10 - Cash has been adopted! 3/22/10 - Cash has arrived at his foster home in PA, It was a beautiful day for traveling. He did great in the car, just sat and looked out the window most of the way, then took a little nap. My son Alex had been home for two days sick with a fever and bad cough, Cash went up to him right away and just sat there with him, It was so sweet. He really didnt seem nervous at all just checked things out. We met the other dogs out side and he was perfect. Not a big player yet but he tries. He is a typical boxer boy that wants to be with someone all the time. He is very frendly and he dosen't need to be crated. He has a blanket that he sleeps on the floor beside my bed. He will be going to the vet to get a good check up and his shots. I'll keep you update on how he is doing. If you are looking for a well mannered boy who loves every one Cash is your man. Get those apps in he's a keeper. |
