UPDATE 8/3/10 - It’s been a month now and we have learned a lot about our new fur kid. We learned that he wouldn’t respond to his name when we called him. And since we had to teach him his name anyway, we started calling him Dexter and made Bolo his middle name. We also learned that he needed to get some house manners. He would jump all over people and play bite (a little too hard). So, we enrolled him in an obedience class and what a difference it has made. I think all he needed was some structure in his life. We can see that every day he is getting better and that he wants to please us.
We have to say that he has brought so many boxer laughs to our house. Watching him play is a lot of fun.  We just bought him a new rubber chicken and he brings it everywhere.  He flings it into the air and then chases it.  We don’t have to do anything, but just sit back and watch him play. We have also been touring around town with him and he loves to jump in the car and go for a ride.  He needs to realize that unless he learns how to drive, he isn't allowed in the front seat.  :)
So far he's been great, and we are looking forward to training him further, as he is becoming a better dog everyday!
P.S. He wanted us to tell you that he is very excited about his upcoming camping trip next weekend.

UPDATE 7/5/10 - We've had Bolo for a week now and he's doing great.  He is a handsome fellow and our family loves him.  We no longer need to give our 5 month old baby a bath anymore because our boxer licks him clean each day.  :)  He's still learning to not jump on people, but we're working on him with that.  He's been getting better at responding to us and he looks like he is going to be a fast learner.  He is getting pretty good at sitting and he started heeling with us during our walk yesterday.  He loves sticking his face in the garden hose and drinking the water.  He likes being outside, but it's been pretty hot lately, so he likes to come back in and chill on the couch.  He also enjoys a good car ride and likes to hop in our car even if we are just opening the door to get something out of it.  He tries to get in the driver's seat when the car is parked, but we don't know about his previous driving experience, so we'll probably just do all of the driving ourselves, while he sits in th  e back.
:)  He's been meeting all of the neighborhood dogs and he's been doing well with them.  He's on an antibiotic pill, which we coat in peanut butter so that he'll eat it.  We think we may be the first people to introduce him to peanut butter, because the first time he saw and smelt it, he was uninterested.  After he tried it, it was a big hit and now he follows us and stares at us while we are smearing the peanut butter on the pill.  Sometimes he is a sneak, and he licks the peanut butter off of the pill and drops the pill on the floor.  He manages to get a second round of peanut butter that way. :)  He loves eating bugs, which is great, because we don't.  He's still learning tableside manners, as he licked one of our hot dogs today before it made it to the grill.  He loves ice cubes and he waits at the refrigerator whenever we are getting water or ice from the door.  All in all, he's been a great new addition to our house and we look forward to enjoying the beautiful summer w  eather with him.

6/29/10 - I was adopted today!

What an amazing transformation this dog has made in a week! We really didn't think he would make a turn around at all, let alone this soon. We consulted with a professional trainer referred to us by another foster family. Kay Ann gave us some starter advice over the phone and we put those techniques into play immediately. Bolo has learned pack order and formation. We are able to walk him with the pack now. He craves human love and attention. We are still working on the boundaries of what is acceptable, but he is beginning to "get it". He loves to play with my American  Bulldog, Goober. They wear each other out. Bolo is no longer penned in his "room", he is a respected member of the family. He doesn't steal food, toys or bones. He loves to follow me around the house and sit next to me when I am in my studio working or doing email.  He is completely housebroken and has learned to use the "doggie door" to go in and out. He loves being outside. He will lay out in the grass for hours. He doesn't jump up on furniture. He doesn't "counter surf". He loves to go for walks. He loves to play this his ball. His butt never stops the wiggle.
My note to potential adopters: You will love this dog! He is amazing and so worth the time and effort Greg and I put into him every day. We can't tell you how much this dog has changed and become what a Boxer is all about. You will never regret owning this dog or loving him.

6/16/10 -
Hi, Bolo here. I've been with my Foster Family for 4 days now. I've been trying really hard to fit in. I didn't think my new pack liked me, but then Foster Mom took me to "that place" and had me "fixed". Foster Dad says I wasn't broken, but she took me anyway. She said we'd all get along just great afterwards. I can't wait!
I had a rough night last night, but Foster Mom slept on the couch to comfort me and keep me company. By morning, I had snuck up onto the sofa with her. Foster Dad took some pictures. I've included them. I hope to feel better in a few days. I'll write to everyone again at the end of the week. I hope mom didn't send you the pictures of me with "that thing" on my head.  Everyone calls me "Cone Head". It's so humiliating.

Bolo has arrived and is trying to get familiar with his new surroundings.  It's a big change for the handsome guy so we will need a few days to evaluate him and for Bolo to get used to us.
