| 10/22/10 - Blaze had his neuter surgery on Wednesday and everything went great. He was a little more sleepy than usual the first night but other than that, you would have never known he just had surgery. Blaze has been wonderful to have here at our home, he has adjusted to the routine here and loves everyone. A typical day for Blaze is as follows:
5:30am - Foster mom and dad leave for work... that's a little too early for me, I'll just see them when they come home. 6:30am - Foster grammie gets skin foster sister up for school... I'll stretch and go hang with grammie and my fur foster bro and sis till the car pool gets here, cause once she leaves for school it's time to eat! 7:25am- Oh boy.... when will that car pool get here? this kid has got to get to school, I'll keep checking out the window to be sure we don't miss it. 7:30am - Finally, ok your rides here, time to go, bye, see ya after school.... Ok grammie it's time to eat. Early morning - I'll let my food digest and relax in this sunny spot on the floor. Mid morning - Grammie lets us out in the yard for some wrestle time. Afternoon - The resident dogs and I will go hang with grammie and maybe someone will come to visit and I'll get to practice my guard dog bark. 4:30pm - People are starting to come home, this is around the time we eat so I'll just hang out right in everyone's way just so they don't forget to feed us. 5:00ish - They feed us, OMG why do they have to make us wait like that it is so annoying. 6:30pm - I see that foster mom and dad are putting their sneakers on.... this is very very exciting this means we are going for a walk, I try not to cry but it's just so exciting I can't help myself. we get in the car... are we going to the walking trail or the beach? I don't know either would be GREAT, I'll see if I can figure it out any landmarks looking out either window and I'll try not to cry. 6:45pm - The walk begins, there is so much to see so many people and other dogs I try to be first in line, I try to sniff everyone that walks past me, life is good. 8:00pm - All that pulling has wore me out, we put the TV on and relax (I twist myself into a pretzel) until it's time for bed then we do it all again the next day... I love my routine! 10/19/10 - We nicknamed Blaze, Evander Holyfield, because of his old ear injury; we don't know how it happened so we are going with the Tyson vs. Holyfield incident (lol). Blaze went to the Vet yesterday for his check up and will be going in for his neuter on Wednesday. The vet checked out the issue that he is having with his left leg (I said right leg in my last update but it is his left). She feels that this is on old ACL or meniscal tear that was never treated and that he has learned to adjust to it and doesn't seem to be in pain and it certainly isn't slowing him down any, so it would be best left alone. Other than that, he is in great health. Blaze has been sleeping in our room on a dog bed on the floor he stays there all night and is very happy just to be in the same room with us, he has wonderful manners and won't come up on the bed unless invited, even if my boy is up there. We have a dog door and he has been using that since he arrived. He hasn't had accident's in the house but since he is not neutered, he has marked in the house, when I catch him in the act I clap my hands and say No he stops right away. It has already happened less and less since he got here, so I think once he is neutered this won't be an issue anymore. He has the sweetest disposition and already has become very attached to everyone in the house, he gets so happy when everyone comes home and hates when we leave. As soon as anyone in the house puts their coat on, he gets all wiggely and jumpy he thinks he is going to go too, he loves to go out and go for walks. He needs some training with walking on the leash he is a puller, he just loves to explore. With all that this poor boy has been through, he is still able to love with all his heart and he deserves to get that love back in boat loads. He just wants a home and a family of his very own and he will be forever grateful. 10/15/10 - We picked up Blaze at noon today. This poor boy has been neglected and abused and was severely undernourished when animal control got him. He has since put on 15 lbs. and still could use another 10-15. He is full of bumps and bruises he is babying his hind right leg and one of his ears is split it looks like he must have got it caught on something and it split it is healed now so it must have happened some time ago. Even though he is nervous and doesn't know his place yet, he is adjusting pretty well. He has been playing in they yard all afternoon with my male and they are getting along great. He is exhausted but won't sleep I put him in the crate to for about an hour he didn't want to go in but finally laid down and closed his eyes off and on. He has been here just a few hours and already when I go out and come back in, he wags his tail for me. I am amazed that a dog that has been put through so much at the hands of another person manages to wag his tail for anyone or anything. When I sit and look at him I get teary eyed, he is just so sweet I want him to have a great life. More to come on this amazing boy as we get to know him. |
