| UPDATE 8/7/10 - The summer is going by so fast that our 3-month update slipped by- sorry! We were actually away on a camping trip with Porsche. We had a great time! We were able to see her protective side for the first time. One night a few kids came up to our site to ask us a question, we were just sitting in our chairs and she heard them coming & started growling. It was the first time we saw her like that & my husband & I were both taken back! If you came to my door she would just jump & lick you to death! She graduated puppy class, although once school starts again we are planning to bring her back to reinforce her training as well as concentrate on leash walking. She was also spayed and micro chipped which went well. She was back to her self in a few days. I will forward the necessary paperwork over to SCBR. I can't believe its only 4 months since we first picked her up. She is one of the family and even through the crazy days, I can't imagine life without her! UPDATE 6/14/10 - Porsche is doing great. Training is going well, she is a very smart pup and will do anything for food! She plays very nice with the other puppies in class, and the few friends she's made in the neighborhood. She loves to play "chase" where she will take something from the kids and run around the house like a crazy dog while they chase her! And they do chase her! She has discovered that her paws can now touch my counter and she will steal anything in her reach! She doesn't ever bark until she reaches her "crazy play time" and then she doesn't stop. This is the time of day when she starts to play rough, bites, usually causes tears, and we have to settle her down. We've had a few extra visits to the vet this month. She apparently likes to eat bees, and her face swells up like a cartoon character. She had to have steroid shots, benedryl, and the doctor now sent us home with pills for her. We all love her and the routine of having a pup is falling into place! UPDATE 5/10/10 - Porsche is doing great. She is three months old and is getting better with house training. She understands when I tell her its time to go outside. She goes to the door, and sits until we get the leash on her. She hasn't had many accidents, and most are #1. Several times she has even gone to the front door and whined to let me know she needed to go out! I give her a small kibble outside after she goes, and when she comes in the house she sits until the leash is off, and then runs to the kitchen and stands in front of the cabinet where her "cookie jar" is! She doesn't really bark, only when she's revved up in playtime do we hear her bark. Sometimes she can play a little rough which we then control and we all get a time out! She sits very nicely on command. She has met lots of new people. She is always in the car with me and goes to Lacrosse and Soccer practices where she gets even more attention! A friend of ours also has a puppy and they play nicely together. She starts obedience on Friday 5/14, the first class on 5/7 was conditioning for the people! We make a noise when she is doing something we don't want her to, instead of always saying NO. She knows this noise now. I've found her with a shoe and if I make the noise, she turns her head away from the shoe and puts it down on the floor, as if ignoring the shoe! She is a very smart pup. She has gotten to know the kids and you can already see how she is different with each one of them, as though she knows their personalities. I think the kids may be harder to train! I don't even remember when she wasn't a part of the family, and I can't imagine not having her to hug every day! We have all fallen in love with her. UPDATE 4/17/10 - Porsche (Betsey) is adjusting well to her new home. She is sleeping from about 11pm to almost 7am, and sometimes longer! She loves her new toys, she can be very playful and then suddenly go in her crate and pass out! She was at the vet on Tues 4/13 and had her next round of shots. Her nails were clipped and her stool came back negative for any parasites. She had a playdate with a friend's 9 month old pup and had the best time ever, she came home and slept for three hours! All that running and playing was exhausting work. My three children are really enjoying their new playful pup, but she seems to have taken a closeness to my oldest. I was home with Porsche all week, and on Friday I went to work and my Husband was home with her. I missed her all day, and when I came home I had the warmest welcome ever. She looked over when the front door opened, ran over to me with a ton of kisses and didn't leave my side for quite a while! I just sat on the floor playing with her and enjo ying every minute of the love she was giving me! 4/10/10 - I was adopted today! 3/25/10 - The famous labels have arrived! Betsey is a sweet heart of a pup she loves, loves, loves getting attention of any sort and has a sweet, easy going temperament. Other than needing to be dewormed and gain a few pounds she got a clean bill of health at her vet visit. Betsey is a great pup and will make a very lucky family complete. 3/19/10 - Betsey and her brothers and sister came into rescue last week after their full blood boxer mom and dad had an unwanted litter and the owners gave them up to rescue in Ohio. They're happy puppies who are getting the care they need... and have a great foster mom to clean up after them! More soon! |
| ** NOTE: Because I am a puppy, I need to live with someone who is home alot- retired, stay-at-home, work at home. |
