UPDATE 1/21/10 - Ohh Willy....  This little guy really won over our hearts the moment he smiled at us.  The first few days I was like a new parent watching his every move and making sure that everything was just right for him. We toke him to the vet and found out the little guy had some worms but other then that he was in great health.  Socializing this guy would be an understatement, he pretty much goes everywhere that we do with the exception of work.  He loves playing with other dogs and getting his belly rubbed.  He has really grown to trust us and tends to be my shadow from time to time but warms up once he realizes he is in good company.  It wasnt until a few days after we got him that Willy and I realized how to play with each other because he didnt really have much interest for balls, bones, or chew toys, but since we got over the hump this little guy can get all fired up and loves it when you are done playing becuase he comes and gives you a big hug.  Since Willy didnt have much fu  r on his belly we outfitted him with a hard to find jacket for when we are outside and pretty much everywhere we go we get comments on how good looking of a dog he is.  When it comes to traveling it is usually a good ten minutes before this guy just completely falls asleep in the car and wakes up whenever you get to your destination.  The only way you know he is in the car sometimes is by the great little presents he tends to do when he sleeps that fill the air with an aroma that would clear a large room :)  Aside from a bit of  a stubborn streak Willy is doing well with training and now shakes, and comes MUCH better when you call him.  What the next month or so brings might allow for another dog to come into our family so if things go to plan then Willy will be able to have a playmate 24-7 which we know he would love.
Cant say enough about this little guy......everytime I open the door even if I am gone for 15 minutes its like he hasnt seen me for weeks.  What a great dog.

12/26/09 - Willy has been adopted!

12/17/09 -
woow, what a nice guy... This dog is Mr.Nice guy!   He just goes with the flow, dogs, people crate... what ever you ask of him he does... He comes when called, he waits for his food sitting pretty. I have to video this dogs smile. He grins from ear to ear..... he lifts his lip to show you his pearly whites!! He is calm and gentle for a youngster. No whirling dervish here ( like a typical young Boxer) He knows his place in the pack,he turns his head to avoid eye contact with the fresh resident dog. He picks a spot on the dog bed and promptly lays down. He would be a wonder addition to any family with or without other dogs. He would love to celebrate the new year in his FUR ever home!

- Well, there is a story behind the 1 yr old boy.   Willy was one of many dogs needing help in a rescue networking email that went around to rescue groups. Willy was sent to me specifically because he looks so much like my long term foster girl ( Sweetie). Willy is from the same area of the south that Sweetie was rescued from. Our rescue numbers are so great this time of year that we really attend strictly to our area, the north east. So, I sent his picture to another local rescue and they agreed to take him if I could get him here. His evaluation was outstanding and they felt he was highly adoptable.
So what began as a normally smooth venture became total craziness. Willy waited patiently in boarding for 3 weeks waiting for transport. A lot of the communication was just awful and this was becoming a mission of FREE WILLY!!   So much time passed from when the other rescue committed to him and when he actually arrived and now they don't have room. Sooooooooo Willy P is hanging with the SCBR clan.
This boy is all that and a bag of chips.
I have already integrated him into most of my resident pack. He was fine with the cats at the grooming shop too. THIS BOY ACTUALLY SMILES WHEN YOU SPEAK TO HIM. HIS TIMING IS NOT GRAND BUT HE SURELY IS :) Please get you application in right away!
