| UPDATE 7/11/10 - Wendy is the perfect addition to our home. She is a lovable, smart, and affectionate dog. Health wise she is doing very well. The winter was tough on her bad leg because she loves to run, but now that the weather is good and the snow is gone, she is doing great.
Wendy loves to go on car rides, especially when they end in a visit to her boxer friend Annie. She also loves to go on walks, to have her belly rubbed, and to sleep on the couch in the basement on days when it gets hot. This summer Wendy will go on her first camping trip which I am sure she will have a fabulous time because it will result in lots of attention, walks, and swimming....which are all things she enjoys! Wendy and one of our cats are best buddies, following each other around the house and playing. Our other cat still doesn't love Wendy, but has stopped running away which has stopped Wendy from chasing after her. We couldn't be happier with Wendy. Thanks for making her a part of our family!! UPDATE 1/17/10 - Wendy is doing fantastic. Her two favorite things are going for rides in the car and going for walks. She especially loves going for walks with her friend Annie, another boxer. Wendy is also doing very well with obedience. She always returns when called in from the yard, which is a huge improvement from the first few months living with us. Wendy had a wonderful holiday. She loved that my husband and I were home for a week and a half, especially because she is not a fan of getting up at 5:30 on work days. Wendy also loves visitors, especially snuggling with them on the couch and showing off her toys. Wendy continues to be a perfect addition to our family. We couldn't be happier! UPDATE 9/14/09 - Wendy is a wonderful, lovable dog. Obedience training has been a huge help with her manners and walking on a leash. She has adjusted wonderfully to our family, cats, and schedule. We have learned Wendy needs to be introduced slowly to other dogs and have multiple interactions with them before she is comfortable enough to interact without growling. Obedience class was great for socialization and we are planning to continue to work on her behavior with other dogs. She is incredibly friendly with people, even if she gives more kisses than some people appreciate! We continue to monitor her left back leg. At this point in time it does not keep her from running in the yard, going on hikes, and swimming whenever she gets a chance. Sitting is difficult for her, so during obedience she gets to lay down and rest whenever dogs are asked to sit, which she doesn't seem to mind! Overall we couldn't be happier with the new addition to our family! UPDATE 8/7/09 - Wendy is doing great! We are sending this update a few days early because our family (including Wendy) will be in the Catskills next week. Wendy is adjusting very well to our home. She is friendly and lovable to anyone who enters the home. She is still having a little trouble understanding why the cats won't play with her, but she is very gentle and patient. Wendy is nervous when introduced to other dogs, but obedience training is definitely helping with her socialization. Wendy loves to take rides in the car, go for walks, and she is becoming a decent swimmer. Wendy does seem to have trouble with one of her back legs. We have taken her to the vet, and are keeping an eye on it. The vet did recommend a diet for our chunky girl, so we are working on this as well. Overall we couldn't be happier with Wendy. She is a happy and laid back dog that loves to give kisses and affection. We will continue to monitor her leg and hopefully it is only arthritis. 7/14/09 - Wendy has been adopted! 7/12/09 - Wendy has been here for 1 week today and she has warmed up well, she is very playful so for children under 4 she might knock them over . she goes for about 3-4 walks a day . has had no accidents in the house , eats & drinks very well . the more that she is here the more we learn about Wendy .she is very sweet & loving , She will give you kisses all the time . She will make a great pet to any family . She is very submissive , and will roll on her back so that you can rub her belly , she loves that !! 7/7/09 - Hello everyone Wendy has arrived! Wendy came into rescue from an owner surrender. Her owner was having surgery today. She came to us on Sunday. She was stressed a little. She drank, but did not eat much the first night. She is getting more comfortable now. She is drinking & eating fine. She is housebroken and is a very big girl. According to her last vet visit, she weighed 63.04 lbs She is crate trained, but she is good in the house when we are not there. She is a flashy fawn and a very sweet girl. |
