| 12/17/09 - Tyra is one W O N D E R F U L little lady! She's settled in here as if she's always been here. She adores the other dogs. She loves to snuggle and will sit patiently for her lovin'. She's a little bouncy when folks first come in the house, but will quickly stop that when told to. It doesn't last. She's even getting better about surprise noises. Now, she just raises her head to investigate... maybe growl a bit... but will calm right back down. (I think that if I'd been watching that movie these days, she would have just woken up, given me a dirty look for waking her up, looked around, and snuggled back into the couch.) I have to admit, though, she's a little perterbed that the ribbon on the wreath on the window outside is clicking the glass. She's pretending to be asleep while keeping one keen eye on it, in case it attacks! Too funny! Given how she's so smart and so responsive to correction, I don't think that smaller children will be a problem for her. In every way, she's one of the most perfect, all around dogs, I've met. I'd tell you, don't bother calling, I'm happy for her to stay as long as she likes, but then I couldn't help another foster... So I'll not be selfish and tell ya to hurry up and call now! Reading back through the updates from the other foster home, it seems that her peeing in the house could have been a stress thing while she settled into the transition from her former family. I've seen none of that here. She's a perfect lady when left alone in the house. She's also learned how to use the doggie door that was installed the other day. She's not a happy camper about the cold and will made us laugh at the extent she'll go to while trying to avoid walking in water. (there's a puddle at the bottom of the deck stairs and if she could hop through it on one foot, she'd do it!) I'd swear she's even learned not to snore.... then she lets out some noises that causes me to have to turn up the tv! She's so fantastic, doncha just want to take her home with you?!?! 12/1/09 - Foster Mom here. As I've gotten to know Tyra, I haven't changed even one of my first impressions. She is SUCH a sweet dog!!! She's a love... so quiet and cuddly. She's always paying attention, even when you think she's asleep. She's a little prissy and doesn't like the rain or the cold- both of which we have lots of here in Maine. She startles easily at new or loud noises, but calms really quickly. (It was really funny the night I watched a horror movie-screamed- and she was up and "protecting" me before she was even awake!) She adores my 7 year-old neice and they'll lay wrapped around each other on the couch watching tv. But, I can see where, like in her previous foster home, she may get stressed with screaming kids running around. Still, she loves to meet new people, but feels a little need to screen them before they're declared "ok". That takes about 10 seconds. As you can see in her video, she'll keep right up with my 14 month-old lab puppy, but she picks and chooses her time. I think she'd love a home where she can be both active and a couch potato. Does that describe your home??? She's all ready for you! 11/25/09 - Happy Thanksgiving from me, Tyra!!! What a wild week this has been! I had a long car ride a few days ago and came to live with this lady and her dogs up here in Maine. She's super nice and I spend all my time playing with the big 1 year old lab who is always ready to tussle. We have so much fun playing tag in the back yard and basement!! The lady also has this HUGE couch where we all curl up at night until we move with her to the bed. She says I SNORE... can you believe it?!?!? I don't think so, I'm too much of a lady!!! I have heard the lady tell people that I'm just wonderful, which I knew, of course! She always tells me I'm really sweet and so pretty. She says my pictures don't show even half how pretty I am! Its cuz I get grumpy when the light flashes in my eyes, I think. I like being here. People come to visit and I just love people! I'm not jumpy, but I'm bouncy. That's just to show people how happy I am to see them. Just wait until you come to take me home, I'll show YOU how happy I am to see you! 11/18/09 - Tyra has been here for a couple of weeks now and has definitely settled in. We go on daily walks, which she loves, and she is getting very good on her leash. She does not like cats or smaller dogs, but plays very well with my large male dog. Tyra is very protective of us as her "family", and LOVES her people. She has been left alone for several hours at a time without being crated and had no accidents and kept herself out of trouble completely. We no longer crate her at night either and she loves to share the bed. She is completely housetrained and a very nice house guest. It took her a bit to get comfortable here, but now that she is settled her fun boxer personality keeps us constantly laughing. 11/2/09 - Tyra came into rescue today because her family has come into some hard times. She is a big beautiful brindle girl with typical boxer energy. She will soon meet my cats and other dogs, so far she has glued herself to my 9 year old son and is very good with him. According to her prior owner she will go potty in the house if left alone for long periods, so I would recommend crating her while away. She hasn't been crate trained but will go in with some gentle coaxing. She will be seeing the vet for her spay and shots Tuesday. Tyra does have cropped ears but they lay flat on her head, pointing at each other, and has gorgeous light brown eyes. I will write more as she settles in, she is a true sweetheart! |
