12/26/09 - I was adopted today!

12/16/09 - Sophia has been here for 3 days now and she has proven to be a very sweet little girl. She interacts with the 3 girls very well and plays well with our youngest. She plays hard and noisey and when it's over she sleeps like a log. This is the case 95% of the time. Every now and then she gets into it with one of them for no apparent reason. I recommend that Sophia go to a home without cats or dogs. By herself, she is a perfect dog. She is house broken, she listens and obeys the basic commands and is very affectionate. If you want a great companion and want unquestioned loyalty, Sophia is your girl.

12/15/09 - Sophia has arrived in Maine, where Boxers are Boxers and cats are nervous!!! Sophia came to us because there was a cat at her last foster home and let's just say Sophia dreamed every night of how to get her paws on that cat.
     Sophia was introduced to the 3 girls and the traditional butt sniffing took place for about 10 minutes and then the girls gave her a tour of her new surroundings. She was a little shy last night and was taught real fast that just because she was done her dinner, that didn't give her the right to join in with any of the others. It didn't work with sharing water either but today everybody knows how the rules of the country club work and all is well.
     I don't think she has lived with other dogs full time but has become one of the pack already. Her and Mabel run up and down, round and round until their tongues are hanging and they need to catch their breath. She loves her new playmate.
     The kids have nick-named her "LeBron" and "MJ" because she has at least a 42" vertical leap. Standing still she is up and over the gate as if she wasstepping over a pile of poop! She slept with us last night along with the other girls and never woke up or even changed positions. She is the new snoring champion of the house.....she has taken my title!
     Sophia is going to be a blast to have here and with a little leash work and doggie school when she gets adopted, she is going to be cream in their coffee!

11/28/09 - Tequilla is now known as "Sophia". Sophia was surrendered back to SCBR yesterday. Apartment living was not for her. She is a high energy dog. She is 2 years old and still has alot of puppy in her. She needs regular trips to the dog park, which we started today. She ran and ran and ran. She played very well with the other dogs and wanted to play fetch after watching the other dogs running and bringing the ball back. She catches on very quickly. She is a very smart dog. Once we have a good routine going, I know Sophia will get better and better.

UPDATE 8/16/09 - I have had Tequilla for 2 months now and time does fly when staying busy! I have been doing personal training classes every couple weeks and trying to get her socialized with other dogs so we will be ready for the obedience training classes. My class will be starting September 14 so I think we will be ready and the trainer knows my dog well so she will help us out. She does not socialize well with other dogs and tries to bark and lunge but seems like the bitter apple spray in her mouth distracts her so we will be trying that more often. I have to find something that will work because I live in an apartment complex with many other dogs walking around. She does socialize well with my parent's boxer. We will be trying the invisable fence soon at my parents house since she really has no place to run except for on the leash jogging.
   I have been trying to crate train her because I was leaving her out in the living dining room area when I left but she was having accidents and scratching/biting at the doors and frames so I put my foot down and bought a large crate and bones and a Kong and a bark shock collar. She is doing much better. She is still anxious and cant relax and drools everywhere but she is not barking so that is a plus.
   I really do enjoy having her around and I know she is enjoying herself too. She is so content after a long walk and will relax inside. I think after the obedience classes we will be just fine.

UPDATE 7/18/09 - This is my one month update. She is doing great. She seems to be unsocial with other dogs, I think it is just excitement. I have taken her to 2 private sessions and learning some tricks to distract her and calm her down with other dogs. She is a puller. I am getting into shape because of it! She likes to try to chase squirrels, birds, and is distracted very easily but we are working on it. She is not happy with the crate but trying to get her comfortable with it. She is an angel when there are no distractions, sitting at home she is calm and she loves to play with her toys. I am very happy with her and understand she just needs love, exercise and discipline.

6/14/09 - Tequilla was adopted today!

5/21/09 - Tequila is a 1 1/2 year old gorgeous brindle boxer with white markings. She needs to be brought up to date on her shots and she will have to be spayed. Unfortunately the spaying will have to wait a few weeks because she is just finishing a heat cycle. Tequila was surrendered to us because her owner moved and the landlord wouldn't let Tequila come in the house. Tequila is great with people of all ages, other dogs, but not so good with cats. She walks wonderfully on a leash, doesn't like being crated (but will tolerate it), and she is housebroken. Tequila doesn't like to play much yet, but she still needs time to settle in. She's everything you would want in a canine companion plus more. We gave her a bath after she got here. She did really well and seemed to really enjoy it. Tequila is an absolutely wonderful dog to have around and would make a great addition to any family.
