UPDATE 2/24/10 - Dempsey continues to thrive in our home.  He is an all around good boy.  He is gentle, obedient and has bonded with Roxy very well.  He loves our kids and listens well to their commands.  He loves to play tug of war, is learning to fetch, and has learned to "speak" on command.  He gets along well with other dogs.  All of this and he is not even 1 year old yet!  Good boy!

UPDATE 1/17/10 - Rocky (aka Dempsey) has settled in to the daily routine quite nicely. He is beginning to fill out and looks very handsome. He and Roxy are best buddies and have been spending the cold winter days romping and playing.  He is somewhat un-boxer like as he seems unfazed by cold or wet weather, and he especially enjoys eating the freshly fallen snow.  The area of mange on his face seems to be resolving with medication and most of the fur has grown back.  He is due for another skin scraping next week...hopefully it will be mite-free.  Dempsey has passed his intermediate obedience training and now can sit, stay, lay down, and come on command.  His leash manners are very good as well.  We are still working on the counter surfing and whining.  He is gentle and friendly with both people and other dogs and is a real pleasure to have.

UPDATE 12/10/09 - Rocky is doing great.  We did have to change his name because our other boxers name is Roxy.  He is now Dempsey.  Dempsey is the sweetest,  boy.  He and Roxy are inseperable.  He is very gentle if not a bit clutzy on his feet.  He is doing great with obedience training.  He sits perfectly gives his paw and is learning to sit and stay for a while. He comes when called, and his obedience teacher can't believe how good he is for 8 months.  We're working on his counter surfing and his whining.  He is a bit of a complainer.
Our initial visit to the went well.  However, we noticed sores on his face and found out he has demodeic mange (not contagious).  We are working hard on getting rid of it.
He passed his initial screening for Canine Kindergarten, and has gotten along splendidly with every dog he has met.  We are truly thrilled to have him!

11/15/09 - I was adopted today!

11/10/09 -
Rocky has graced my house with his presence.  As you can see from his pictures he is a very handsome boy.  He is very mellow and well behaved for his age.  He is wonderful with Pheobe and has been good with the cats too.  He will chase them but just to befriend them.  He is not your typical 7month old.  He rarely jumps on people and hasn't attempted to get on furniture or the counters.  He will whine a bit when in the crate but will go in to sleep on his own at night.  He has had one accident in the house but it was my fault.  I misread his signals.  He will whine and go to the door when he has to go out and sometimes rings the bell.   If it is time to go in and he still has to go he will not come in until his business is done.  He was neutered on Monday and was ready to eat, drink and play as soon as he got home.  He will have to wait a few days to play but has been very patient.  He is the most lovable pup.  He greets everyone with a spinning tail.  I truly think it is voice activated.  Get your applications in soon or he will end up staying here forever.  Pheobe and I are totally in love with him.

- Rocky has arrived.  He is gorgeous as you can see from his pictures and soft as a bunny.  He is big boy for 7 months.  He has long legs and such beautiful markings.   He fell in love with everyone he has met and was sad to see Joanne (his final transporter) leave.  He gets attached pretty quickly.  He has met my 8 month old puppy and they play very well together.  He is much bigger than her but she gives him a run for his money.  He has done all his business outside today so I am pretty sure he is housebroken. He is still settling in and kind of tired from his long drive and wrestling with Pheobe.  More updates to follow.
