| UPDATE 8/4/10 - Unbelievably, more than one year has passed since Rocky became our forever dog. Rocky continues to be a gentleman in our home. He has welcomed every new foster with a wagging nub and has helped many of them to feel safe and secureas they experience scary changes in their lives.
Rocky continues to enjoy walks and rides. We recently took a weekend trip to our camper 'parked' in Thomaston. Rocky enjoyed the new surroundings and I enjoyed having him as my companion during the sudden heavy downpour! He never sleeps in bed here at home, but he liked snoozing with me in the camper (I liked it too--it was a chilly night!) I'm glad he is a part of our family. 5/09 - Rocky has been adopted! 04/19/09 - Time flies when you are having fun--and I can't believe that Rocky has been with us two weeks already! He is such a great guy and we are enjoying him so much. Rocky is very comfortable in the house and in the yard. He has had not a single "accident' since he arrived, and since he refuses to go in the crate and is perfectly behaved he has half the house to himself when we are at work. (Avery has the other half.) He and Avery are getting along fine--she is dominant over him but there have been no spats. He is just a gentle giant! Rocky is one of those Boxers who is vocal--he moans and groans, especially with pleasure when he is being petted--and it would be easy to be concerned that he was growling if you didn't know better. Luckily he has a good-sized tail nub so that it is easy to see it wagging back and forth. He is smart guy--Rocky has learned how to open the French doors from the kitchen to the porch when he wants access to the backyard. He is too big to fit through my doggie door so we leave the slider slightly open for him. (Or close it when we don't want him in the yard. The three of us took a lovely walk around the neighborhood and Rocky was perfect gentleman on the leash--thank heavens because if he decided to pull he really could! 4/5/09 - Rocky does NOT like the crate! But I guess that's OK as he is not misbehaving in the house at all. He and Avery have already met and are just fine with one another. Boy is he BIG! He makes her look tiny! Rocky has already discovered the loveseat, but also knows where to find the dog beds. He seems to really enjoy my husband's company--which is great since Avery prefers mine--so we each "have" a dog! He has nibbled a little food, and is drinking water so it seems that he has settled in just fine. We had a surprise visitor today, and he wagged his nub at her and sniffed her pants and let himself be petted--but still not a peep out of him! 4/4/09 - Rocky has arrived safe and sound at the Riverview thanks to all his transporters. He is a BIG boy--I'm guessing close to 100 pounds. Handsome, gentle and already wagging his nub at me, Richard and Avery! Rocky checked out the back yard and did some spritzing all around, and then to my delight, really peed so I knew that he was done! We haven't heard a peep out of him yet, and for as many changes as he has gone through today he seems pretty calm and relaxed. Terry took a few pictures of him, and some were posted of his transport so everybody can get a good look at him soon. |
