4/11/09 - Just a quick note to let you all know that Rocco was adopted this morning!! His new forever Dad was very excited to take him home and love him.

4/8/09 -
Rocco seems to have finally put his sad past behind him and he is all excitement, all happy, ALL the time! I am thinking of renaming him Tigger because he does seem to be made of rubber and springs and he is definitely "bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy; fun, fun, fun, fun, fun."  Now that he has a little more meat on his bones and knows that he is safe and we love him he is so much more confident and energetic.  He is gazelle like when he runs, it is like his legs go on for miles.  Of course, as soon as you look at him running and think, "wow, how beautiful" he makes an awkward, puppy like stop by spreading his legs really far apart, and the beauty is quickly replaced with clown-like goofiness.  Of course, these same long legs have gotten Rocco into a little trouble this week.  He has evidently discovered that he can snack off anything that might be on the kitchen counter.  We have never had a counter grazer before, so this was a little amusing to us, but of course we will now work on telling him "no" and not leaving loaves of bread on the counter.  That is right...and entire loaf of wheat sandwich bread- amazingly enough, he left the metal twist tie and plastic wrapper on the floor.  He may be naughty, but he is no dummy!

04/03/09 - Single White Male Boxer Seeks Forever Home.
I am a very good boy looking to love and be loved.  I enjoy long walks at sunset, runs in the park, and cuddling.  I am a great exercise buddy and motivator but I also love to relax and do nothing; rainy nights on the couch watching movies are the best.   I will greet you with enthusiasm and nub wiggles whether you have been gone all day or just out to the mailbox.  I love a good game of catch or tug, but if you are busy I am happy to entertain myself with a toy as long as I can do it near you.  I am so full of joy and spunk I am sure to make you laugh at least once everyday.  Don’t you want to take me home with you today?

03/11/09 - Rocco is on the mend from his bout with kennel cough and feeling full of spunk.  Yesterday, he discovered the toy basket and is having great fun running a muck and flinging the toys here and there.  He also played a great game of fetch at the dog park this morning, retrieving the ball and placing it in my hand for another throw.  It takes him all of about 2 seconds to decide he loves you and then about 2 more before he wants to play with you, or better yet snuggle you.  (If you are standing up he will settle for resting his head in your hand; I swear he napped standing in front of me with his head rested in my hand).  He plays very sweetly with other dogs, using those famous boxer “one – two moves”, but never being too aggressive or rough.  He grumbles a little when playing, but it is just noise!
He has been very gentle with all the children (including toddlers) he has meet so we know he would be great in a house with kids he could love on.  Rocco would be a great addition to a family that already has a dog to play with, but he is good at entertaining himself.  As long as you are willing to give him a little rub he will be a happy boy.
He is a perfect gentleman in the house.  He isn’t a drooler (big plus in the boxer world) and seems to have a clear understanding of what is “off limits” for dogs.  (We can even leave food on the coffee table without him snatching it!)
All he needs now is for someone else to realize what a great pup he is and take him home!!

3/7/09- Rocco has been with us for 5 days now and everyone who meets him is in love. He is extremely gentle and listens well. He knows a few basic commands and with a little work he will certainly add many more to his vocabulary. He got a grasp of “heel” in only a few walks. He is not a big fan of the crate, but is so good in the house he quickly earned free-roam rights even when we are not home. However, he is also learning the crate isn’t so bad; in fact he just woke up from a nap which he chose to take in his crate.
He plays so well with other dogs and has had some good boxing / wrestling matches with our boxer girl. The poor boy does have what appears to be kennel cough complete with stuffy, runny nose. He is willingly taking his medicine and we are sure he will feel better soon. Despite feeling crummy he is still offering boxer nub wiggles and licks for anyone willing to take them. All this boy really wants out of life is someone to love and cuddle. What more could any one want from a dog?!?
