UPDATE 2/11/10 - Mara is doing wonderfully.  She is healthy and has gained almost 8 pounds since joining our family.  She has discovered how much she likes to run and slide int he snow.  She "power drifts" across the backyard when there is enough snow and really does not like to come in the house.
Mara has stopped chewing on shoes and furniture and has settled into her day eagerely awaiting oour daughter to arrive home from school so that they can have playtime.  Her confidence inthe house is noticable in the way in which she growls whenever someone new appears at the end of the driveway.
Soon it will be spring and there will be so much more outdoor things to explore

UPDATE 1/1/10 - Maralyn had a wonderful holiday season receiving many new presents.  She has completed her obedience training and was retested for heartworm at the end of November (everything is fine).  she is up to date on her shots and has made a couple of doggie friends in the neighborhood.

UPDATE 11/21/09 - Marilyn, is a dream.  She has settled right into having her own home along with servants that care for her every need.  We are working to stop the chewing (her Long really helps), and we discovered that obedience training is really fun for Marilyn and for us.  She has put on a few pounds since coming home and will be screened for heartworm at the end of this month.

10/3/09 - I was adopted today!

9/8/09 -
Hello everyone. It's Marilyn.  I wanted to send you an update because my foster mom keeps putting it off.  I think I have a new name.  She keeps calling me "Marilyn just wants love".  It's kind of long but I wag my tail every time she says it.  It's true though, I will do anything for some love. I'll even sit on your lap if you let me. I had my heartworm treatment on August 19th and was a very brave girl.  I was so happy when my FM picked me up and brought me back to my nice cozy bed.  I have been spending a lot of quiet time since then and believe me I can not wait to get going full speed again.  I still get along well with the resident puppy.  We can get a little crazy in the house but I respond well when FM tells us to "quit it" (I'll tell you a secret...The puppy doesn't respond so well and sometimes gets in trouble.  She gets a time out and I get some nice one on one time with FM.  Sometimes I get her going on purpose).  I am a little shy when I meet people for the first time, but warm up pretty quickly.  I have a good memory too.  Once I decide they are ok, I remember them the next time. I am a little unsure of visitors coming too close to my fence, so I make sure to bark at them to tell them to get away. Well, it's time to go steal some love.  Hope to hear from you soon!!

Marilyn went to the vet yesterday to begin her heartworm treatment.  She had 1 injection yesterday and does not appear too sore today.  She is eating and drinking as well.  She will have her second injection today and I should be able to pick her up tonight.

Marilyn is doing very well.  She is a whopping 47 pounds of kisses and wiggles.  She gets along well with Pheobe puppy and fell head over heals for my 5 year old nephew. She follows him around like a puppy and cries when he leaves the yard. She will be starting her heartworm treatment soon so she can find her forever home.

7/24/09 - Hi! I'm Marilyn!
First of all...please disregard my picture.  I am much cuter in person.  I guess when I took that picture I wasn't feeling too good. My foster mom took some new pictures that she will send shortly.  I am a petite little girl.  I only weigh 43 pounds.  I like to eat, so I may gain a few more.  I like this foster home that I am in and I am learning the routine pretty quickly.  When my foster mom gets my food bowl out I run to my crate so I am ready and waiting when she puts the bowl down.  I know I have to go in the crate when she has to work so I go right in like a good girl, then I get a yummy treat.  I don't like to be there when she is home and will let her know by whining a little.  I stop quickly, I just need her to know I would rather be with her.  I have a friend to play with.  She is still a baby, but is the same exact weight as me so we like to run and wrestle.  My foster mom doesn't let us get too crazy because I have this thing called heartworm. It doesn't really affect me now, but I have heard I have to be very brave during the treatment.
I will also have to have this procedure called a spay.  I don't know what that is either, but if that's what I have to do to find my family, I will do it. I tried to get on the couch and counter here and I was told "no way".  I am quickly learning that I need to keep my feet on the floor.  I have also learned sit and down and love to learn new things.  I am pretty good on a leash, too.  I have noticed there are 2 other fuzzy things here (cats?).  I am not sure how I feel about them yet.  I can't get them because there is a baby gate between us, but I do give them a good stare down.  Well, that is it for now.  I'll keep writing you notes on this internet thing until I meet you in person.

Marilyn had a crazy day yesterday. She was transported all the  way from New York to RI, met a bunch of new people, and ended up in a new house with a young puppy. She has been a trooper through it all. I understand she was very good in the car. She met my 5 month old pup through the fence and greeted her with a play bow. We then had some 1 on 1 time so she could get used to the sights and sounds of the yard with out the distraction of a puppy. She has done all her business outside so far. Later in the evening they met through the baby gate and were all wags and wiggles. Once together they became fast friends. I let them loose in the yard together and they did very well. Play, rest, play, rest. This little girl is a cutie but has not even been taught to sit. She tends to counter surf and get on furniture but responds well to the off command. She went into her crate easily with a yummy treat as enticement, giving the expected whine here and there. Marilyn is said to be heartworm positive and will have to go through treatment prior to being spayed so she may not be ready for a couple months. She has a vet appointment on Wednesday to confirm the diagnosis. If you are interested, get your application in. This little cutie pie is worth the wait.

- Marilyn arrived today.  She is a beautiful petite white boxer with some brown freckles.  She has been very mellow today but that is expected.  She went in to her crate willingly, which is a good think since she will be spending a lot of time there during her hw treatment.  She was happy to meet Pheobe throught the baby gate.  No playing yet. More to come on this beauty.
