UPDATE 6/10/10 -   Lizzy is doing well.  We love her to pieces.   She is dear to all of us.  Hard to believe it has only been 6 months.

UPDATE 3/12/10 - Hard to believe it has only been three months. Lizzy is such a sweet girl.  Lizzy is so full of energy once we get her out and off the recliner.   She loves people.  I find it hard to believe that someone could give her up for adoption.  Their loss is our gain.  We could not be more pleased.

UPDATE 2/22/10 - Lizzy is a wonderful dog.  She likes to surf the counters for food so she is now in the crate while we are away from home.    Not a hard ship for her since she will go into the crate when there is no space left on the couch.  Wo go for long walks on the beach to use up some of her energy.  She does not act like a 5 yeat old.   This weekend I gave her a bone and she had no issues when I took it away - then gave it back.    She is a keeper.

UPDATE 1/20/10 - Lizzy is a joy to have around.   She is full of affection and loves attention.  She and our other dog are best buddies 100% of the time including in crime.   My little dog has gained a pound due to Lizzy's ability to surf the kitchen counter and pull off anything remotely edible.   They are never caught in the act so we are being trained not to leave ANYTHING out.  Lizzy loves rides in the care, visiting relatives, walks in the woods as well as on the beach.  She did ascape the house one afternoon and fortunately we had enough snow on the ground to track her.  All is well and we love her boxer kisses and wiggles.

12/19/09 - Lizzy has been adopted!

Lizzy is a very good girl. This morning as I was leaving to go grocery shopping all I had to say was, "crates" and 3 dogs crated with no question. Liz, Sam and Fenway. Liz doesn't mind the crate, but prefers to lay by the woodstove! Much more comfortable! She has now learned how to use the dog door, coming in! I still have to help when it is time to go out. Maybe she just likes the attention? She is really very smart, enjoys toys, and runs and plays in the yard when it isn't too icy, like now, and is a pleasure to have around. She will make some family a very nice companion. Is it your family?

I have been here at the Log Cabin for a week now and it is really ok. Foster Mom is strict, but that is ok. I have earned all the privileges that a dog can have here: I now sleep upstairs with the rest of the dogs, have full run of the house and am only crated when FM leaves the house. She doesn't know it, but she doesn't have to crate me because I am such a good girl! I always eat all my food, I don't jump on people, I don't counter-surf, whatever that is and I go outside to do my potty stuff. There is a strange thing just for us dogs, but I am still kind of shy about it. FM calls it a "doggie door". I just haven't figured out how to make it work, yet. We have this nice thing in the livingroom that is nice and warm and we all gather around it and take naps. FM calls it a 'stove'! I don't care what she calls it as long as I can stay warm! It is cold outside and I don't like it, but I still go out with all the others.
If you ask FM, she will tell you that I am the "perfect dog". Wouldn't you like to have the perfect dog live with you? I'm ready for you.
Love, Liz

Lizzie is starting to learn the rules and is accepting that she is not the only dog here. At first she felt that the others should not be near me, but soon learned that I wouldn't allow her to be pushy. Nothing violent, just herding the other dogs away. Kind of cute. Today is the first day she has decided that she can lay next to the wood stove and enjoy the warmth. If I sit in the living room, she will move to be right next to my chair. She can be a bit "sticky" but will stay in one spot especially if she can see me.
She is slowly learning the dog door. Her confidence level is pretty low, but should improve after she is adopted and attends obedience. She is still sleeping in the crate at night, but I am going to leave the door open tonight and see what she does, if anything. This is one very well behaved girl.
She has not offered to go upstairs. I don't know if she was not allowed to go upstairs in her former home or if they even had stairs. We shall find out.

Lizzy is a very lovely lady. She has met the pack and seems fine most of the time. She is still feeling her way about and is very hesitant about some things. I will update more as we get better acquainted and will be taking pictures.

- The Log Cabin has a new guest. Lizzy has had a very long day! She has traveled many miles in 10/TEN different vehicles! I turned her loose in the fenced in yard and she ran around, then I added Fenway and they raced around! I added Rose and the games were on! Finally, I brought Fenway in and Sam went out to meet the new lady in town. He seems to approve of her and they ran around and played. Even Clara went outside in the snow for a potty break and to sniff the 'new girl'.
After all that play, I got my crew in and corralled and then Lizzy ran around sniffing and finally found a suitable spot to take a dump. Then she quite voluntarily came inside. I had offered her some food, but she wasn't interested at all. I will try her again in a little while. If she doesn't eat, it's ok to 'fast' her until morning. Not a big deal.
Lizzy has met the whole canine crew, but none of the feline crew! There are four cats here that will probably pass judgment in the next few days. Lizzy currently is quite willingly settled into the wire crate with the nice foam pad.
