UPDATE 12/7/09 - Kobi is doing amazing! He started his traing classes, and he's doing pretty well, the lady we're taking him to is also a Dog Therapist, which is REALLY helping us to understand and help Kobi. We took him to my parents house a few times more and he's really enjoying their house and plays really well with their 3 Boston's. He and Dexter are also having a ton of fun running and rolling around in the snow/slush/mud outside.
Santa's been watching and has his sled full of new toys and bones for our new little guy!
Im so glad we got such a good, loving, cuddly boy.

UPDATE 11/7/09 - Kobi is doing GREAT, he's really setteling into his "forever home" well! We love having him here. In the past 2 weeks he has really come out of his shell and I love what I'm seeing, he's got a wonderful personality. When we first got him he was afraid to come to the door when either I or my boyfriend came in, now he's waiting at the door when he hears the cars coming and wiggels his little stubby tail in excitement when we come through the door! He's such a lover boy, he LOVES to suggle and he's very gentle. He is quickly learning how to play fetch; him and Dexter, our other Boxer are getting along great. They play tug with each other and take naps together, laying on each others bellies. He's eating well and takes treats very kindly, he's been to the vet and is doing well, he weights 61 lbs! Thats all for now! I'll write again in another month.

10/9/09 - I was adopted today!

10/1/09 -
Kobi is 10 days post neuter and is doing fine.  He continues to improve his manners and has learned to sit and wait for his food, and treats. He is a little impatient when it comes to rubs, scratches and kisses and will head nudge my 2 boxers if he thinks he hasn’t received enough. (He’s making up for past missed rubs we think).  We are working on that.  He is a puppy at heart.  He is constantly playing with one toy or another and will entertain himself in the house with the rubber chicken, or rope or other toy – throwing it in the air, at you, or putting it in the face of one of the other dogs. He does like to know where you are.  If he is outside, and I am inside, he will stare through the door and then ultimately go explore.  He will sit by my feet when I’m at the computer, at the table, or when watching t.v.  He does get easily excited and is learning that nibbling is not the way to get head rubs. For that reason I would not recommend him to a house with small children. Despite his history of having come from a home where the kids “went off to school” (hence his surrender), he pays little attention to the 13 year old here (but – hey that goes both ways).  He would be ideal for an active couple, or a single person that  wants either a companion for their present furry friend, or just one dog to shower with attention and love.  Kobi does make excellent eye contact and he will do very very well in obedience school because of that..  Kobi is a SWEET SWEET  mushy boy and you would be lucky to have him in your life. By the way… he’s been here two weeks, and has not barked  - not once.

9/22/09:
Kobi here:  Do you have a minute? Can I complain for just a sec?? ummm NOT REALLY HAPPY ABOUT THE EVENTS OF THE DAY!!!!  Last night foster mom brought me to this place that had really nice people... smelled like dogs... and everyone and I mean EV-ER-EE--ONE said I was handsome... that's right H-A-N-D-S-O-M-E.... so much so that when I walked out... I thought that was my name.... I couldn't figure out why she was still calling me Kobi - she heard them... she was right there.  So.... we go home... have some grub and settle in for the night... Monday was A-OKAY in my book.  Then - for some reason  - today .. she gets up really early....so that means we ALL have to get up really early... but I don't get to eat...."wassup with that"?  And her BF is talking to me in a really high voice.... and I'm thinking...."Dude... what's WRONG with you?!!!"   Then she gets the leash....o boy!  we're going for a walk.... WRONGGGG! ..... we get in the car and go back to that same place... you know with the nice people... who called me "Handsome"- that's cool, right?..... and then.... she leaves me there... I couldn't believe it... she just walked out..... the next thing I know... I've got this stupid cone thing on my head and not feeling quite right... a bit woozy if you ask meeeeee......zzzzzz.
Kobi was neutered today... brought up to date on shots and tested for worms... (worm free - whoo hooo!). Everyone at the vets just loved him.  He is not happy right now - in the least.  He does not like the cone on his head (and that is an understatement)... he's resting nicely in his crate.. sans cone and is not licking. Vet says he is to wear it for 10-14 days (that's going to be tough). I'll keep it on him when I'm not home. We are working on house training and I think he's getting it.  Since the neuter is done, it may make things easier. He has impressed everyone he has met: a recent applicant during a home check...my brother and his girls and their two furry siblings, and everyone at the vets office.  He won't be here long  - so if you think you might like a H-A-N-D-S-O-M-E boy to grace your life.... pipe up quickly.

- I thought I'd wait a few days before writing this boy's "bio", to see what dog emerged after the nerves and confusion of being dropped off at a shelter because "the kids are going off to school", subsided.  I'm glad that I did.  What I received from the shelter was a very stressed boxer, ears pulled back, nub tucked, uncertain and lowered gait and seemingly head shy.  A terribly sad sight to see.  What has emerged after 4 days is a bouncing, running,  non stop "lets PLAY, PLAY, PLAYYYYY" clown (I mean dog) who goes easily into his crate, sits for his treats, walks away when "told" by my female that he is too close, and who asks for head rubs by nudging his head under your arm.  This guy is full of MUSH. He likes to be by people as he has spent the evenings under my boyfriends legs while watching t.v.  When I am at the computer, he lays nicely on the floor (when not nudging my right arm).   I have yet to hear him bark.    Kobi would do well with a family that is active as he is a 3 year old with the energy of a 12-24 month old.  He loves to run after soccer and tennis balls, but he doesn't bring them back.. ("hey .... you threw it... I'm showing ya where it is.... you come get it")  Last night, he started playing with Mugsy's Mean Kitty toy and had a blast. Kobi does need to be neutered - but has shown no signs of dominant behavior despite being intact.  He needs training,  but thus far, is learning the rules of this house quickly... he would be happy to learn new rules at his forever home. He'd really like some new kids to call his own again.
