4/14/09 - The little one made her way home with her new family today!

3/30/09 -
Fiji went to the vet Wednesday and got a great check-up. Other than roundworms, she is in perfect health. Worms are pretty much to be expected in pups, needless to say she had her first treatment and we have the meds for her next 2 treatments. Fiji weighs a tiny 4 pounds and is easily one of the smallest boxer pups I have ever seen. The vet is not at all concerned with her being so little, she is just expected to grow up to be a petite littler boxer girl. Fiji was being fed every 4-5 hours, she has now graduated to eating just regular dry kibble. She eats like a champ and always cleans her bowl.
Fiji is very much a typical boxer pup, she loves to run around and play. She has no fear of the big dogs and will go bark in their face to get them to play. She plays hard then crashes for a long nap. She is very good in her crate and with the exception of one pee accident it has been clean and dry. Pretty impressive for a pup of her age! Fiji also goes potty immediately when we take her outside, she really has a good start on housebreaking but will need some more guidance from her new family. In typical boxer puppy fashion, she loves to nip, so we have started working on stopping that. Fiji is such a fun little pup we sure are going to miss her when a very lucky family comes and scoops her up!

3/20/09 - Little Miss Fiji arrived this afternoon. Special thanks to Jeri who picked her up and brought her to me. Fiji is a pretty typical 5 week pup, play a bit, eat and nap. She ate her first meal here with gusto then found her blanket and laid down for a nap. She is sweet, sweet, sweet! Her owner sent her with a big stuffed bear she sleeps with. This bear is HUGE compared to little Fiji. When we finally stopped holding her we put her in the crate with her big bear shoved in the back. Sure enough she must have smelled it, she immediately worked her way out of the blanket, laid on the stuffed bear and snuggled up for a nap. More updates and pictures coming soon!
