UPDATE 2/22/10 - The first 6 months were a little tough.  My young friend has a delicate stomach and everything went right through him.  He was a little trooper though.  Patiently trying every different dog food out there.  Things have finally worked out and he is now 110% boxer!
Now we have our routine down pat - at least one day a week he goes to doggie day care (loves it) and the rest of the week is spent running for an hour or so with his dog friends at a local park.  And boy, do they run.  He is the unofficial ambassador, greeting everyone - two or four feet, he doesn't care.  I guess you can say he is a total Party Puppy!  In the afternoon we do a milder walk, off leash, in a park near the house.  And of course, there is the ever popular Chuck It in the back yard when the weather is really nice.  His behavior is a lot calmer now, between growing up and exercising so much.
Heard from a few of his "sisters" on his birthday.  They seem to be 1/2 his size (40 to 45 lbs.) He is bouncing in at 80 lbs.  You really notice it when he wants to sit in your lap.  I'm a little more accepting of the cuddle - my husband feels a little cramped.  It's always interesting to see who wins!
As usual, it's always fun to have a boxer in your life!

UPDATE 6/15/09 - Well my Dodger has been with us for 2 months and I think it's safe to say he's having a blast.  Of course having Remy to play with is a big part of that although he does enjoy having us at his beck and call quite convenient.
He's really doing well on the house training.  A minor accident here and there but sometimes that's our fault.  We have installed the electric fence in the back yard (about 1/2 an acre to play in) and he's really doing well with that.  As a matter of fact we both seem to enjoy not having to be on the leash when we're out there.
We've finally figured out the "car sickness" problem.  We just turned the crate around so that he's facing the front.  A little more awkward as far as getting him in but much better than having to clean up a mess when he got sick.  We are also taking the two of them to fun places so that they don't think it's always a chore to get in the car.
He did have a little tummy trouble (I'm afraid he's going to be one of those delicate stomach types.) and when we went to the vet they were a little concerned that he might be dehydrated.  So they pumped him up with some fluids (subcutaneously)and when he came back out he looked like a camel!  They did say that would disappear within 12 hours and it did but I was upset - my poor boy!  He didn't seem to mind, actually he was bouncing around within an hour of getting home.  He's up to date on all his shots and will go in to be neutered in August.
Of course he's the star of the obedience class.  Not only does he do the commands perfectly but he looks gorgeous doing them - but then when doesn't he look gorgeous.  There is another Boxer in the class - she's a mix named Lucy and she's very tiny.  The owner keeps calling Dodger a brontosaurus - we don't like the owner - at all.  Not my fault Lucy isn't as handsome as Dodger.
We've been working on leash walking around town.  He's great when it's just him and I but when my husband takes Remy out with us (usually after their dinner)it's a competition to see who can take the lead.  Suffice to say there is a lot of pulling which has to be dealt with.  This too shall pass - I hope.
As a birthday present to my husband Dodger took it upon himself to negotiate the stairs to the second floor!  Now every time the kitchen door is open he makes a bee-line for the stairs and goes up and down them - just because he can and Remy can't!  Ah, children ...
Well I guess that's it for now.  He and Remy are starting to get sleepy so that means I get to attempt to clean the house ... ha, fat chance.

UPDATE 5/15/09 - Dodger, Dodger, Dodger!  What was this house like before you came into our lives.  He's all puppy, all Boxer, and all love.  He lives with my husband, my son, our 3 1/2 month old French Bulldog, Remy, (yes, a puppy that is only 2 weeks older than him - Wow) and me.  He's a happy, laid back kind of lad until he decides it's time to torment Remy.  But don't feel bad for her, even though he outweighs her by 14 lbs. she still gets her licks in.  They love to play and relax in the yard while I'm working in the garden.  4:30 pm looks like the Indy 500 when they tear around the kitchen/sun room (always at that time - go figure).  Breakfast, lunch and dinner looks like a pie eating contest with the two of them racing to see who finishes first (Dodger wins - but I think it's because Remy slows down so she can be mean and nasty and growl if he approaches her bowl - did I mention that she can be a witch!)
Trips have been a little tough because he gets car sick.  But we are trying a few things to see if they help.  I hope they do because we have lots of wonderful places to walk but they are a car ride away.  Keep your fingers crossed.
Health, except for the car sickness, has been great.  Been to the vet twice and they love him (who doesn't). He's a whopping 24 lbs now so we had to up his Heartgard and flee & tick.  Has another appt. the first week of June and I believe it's for his last distemper shot.  One testicle hasn't dropped but Dr. Pinel is keeping her eye on that.  He'll probably be neutered mid August, if my math is correct.
My friend hasn't started his obedience training per se but we have been working on sit (does great) stay (still working) and heel (he's trying but there are so many sights and smells).  Each day he is getting better and better on the leash, especially if we go on routes that allows him to walk on stone walls.  My Rufus did the same thing - is it me or the dogs?
Anyway, I could go on and on about my awesome little friend but they are due for a walk so I must close.  My eternal thanks to Beth G. in Providence who, as the foster Mom, did a fantastic job making sure that my friend turned out to be the happy well adjusted little guy that he is.
Talk to you next month.

4/14/09- My new family came and took me home today!!
