UPDATE 1/27/10 - Diesel is doing great!  He has been just settling in more and more and it seems like he has been with us for years.  He knows the routines and we have worked on his manners.  He doesn't table surf as much but we are better about not leaving any temptations around.  I don't know who was more surprised when I caught him in the act about 2 weeks ago.  Diesel was surprised because Mommy came out of nowhere.  And Mommy was surprised because he was standing right in the middle of of her table.  He told me he liked toast crumbs.  I told him he could get down and find some on the floor.  We went away for Christmas and Diesel stayed at a kennel we have used for quite a few years.  They have many acres of fenced areas to play and run and boy he did.  He ran so much he came back a lean machine.  I jokingly called "Auntie Kimmy" and asked her where the other half of my dog was.  Don't worry he gained it back quick.  Mommy spoils him!

UPDATE 12/19/09 - Diesel is doing great.  He went through a period of not using his house training manners but with treats when he went outside I think has cured that!  Not as much counter or table surfing either.  A few squirts with the water bottle and he decided he did not really want to do that anymore.  So now he is starting to settle in and loves our walks with his Brother "Manny".  With the cold weather and snow here they play a lot inside and chase toys all over the house.  Diesel is always in the lead and Manny is always following behind then all the skin siblings behind him.  Makes for a lot of fun!  Diesel is getting more affectionate.  I don't think he was given a lot of love before.  Boy, he gets it here!!!!!!!!!!  Diesel loves to give hugs and puts his front legs around you.  He is our big, goofy love bug!

UPDATE 11/12/09 - Diesel is doing great!  He has adjusted well to Manny who we adopted one month prior.  Manny is very serious while Diesel is the funny one.  He is like the "dumb jock".  He is big and muscular but doesn't care about much.  If you love him fine, if you don't fine; if you give him attention fine, if you don't fine.  He walks around with this big silly look on his face.  We brought him to the vet and he tested positive for whip worm and hook worm.  He probably had them for a period of time because I did not have any vet papers while he was in foster care.  Everything else went great at the vets.  It is strange....he is not the same dog that his foster mom described to me.  Up until very recently he was a horrible house guest...Table and counter surfed constantly!!!  I have been trying to train him and my kids.  One incident was so bad he went up to the table and grabbed a hot dog right out of my son's hand.  A squirt bottle has worked pretty good, but we can't leave anything o  ut within his reach.  He has also had some house training issues and last week even peeed all over our bed.  Working on these issues by taking him out more.  Foster more walked him with a gentle leader and I have not at all.  I have him trained to walk right by my side and he is great until he sees a squirrel and wants to chase it or sees a dog and gets fiesty.  He is trying to settle in and has made great strides within a month.  We love him!!

- What can i say about Diesel other than what a wonderful houseguest he is! He no longer stays in his crate at night or while we are gone, he is such a good boy! He loves everyone he meets, other dogs and especially kids! Cats are a different story though i don't believe he wants to hurt them just get a good smell  :) He is a strong boy and i found that the gentle leader works very well for him. He is a good healthy eater and loves to play with balls or rope toys! Get your apps in today this goofy pup won't be around long!!!
