UPDATE 7/6/10 - Harley is enjoying summer!  He loves to go swimming, play in the sprinkler, and fight with the hose.  He also has playdates with some neighborhood dogs.  He's very friendly and wants everyone to be his new best friend.
Now he weighs 57 pounds and we think that's about as big as he'll get because he hasn't grown much in the last few months.
Harley doesn't know it yet, but he's preparing for a move to Baltimore, MD.  We think he'll adjust well to the move because he's an adventurous little guy and loves meeting new people.  Hopefully he'll make some new doggy play pals at his new home!

UPDATE 3/23/10 - Harley is doing great. He just keeps growing. He is 43 lbs as of tonight. I'm happy to report he is finally potty trained. He now barks or whines when he has to do his business. He has an appointment next week 3/30 to get fixed. He is just a best pup anyone could ask for.

UPDATE 3/1/10 - Harley is doing great. He just graduated from Petco's puppy training school. He even won a prize on his last day there for being the puppy to stay the longest.
The potty training is still a work in progress. It is much better than before but he will sneak away for a second and run into the bathroom and do his business in there before I even know he wandered away. The only good part is that he only goes in the bathroom when he has accidents. So the potty training is back to square one. He is getting treats and lots of praise for everytime he goes outside.
Harley is a healthy 32lbs the last time I weighed him, about a week ago. Next month will be his snip snip appointment.

UPDATE 1/15/10 - UPDATE!! I now go by Harley. My owners said I look more like a Harley than a Derek. I am doing really well at home. I am a lap dog. I love to just snuggle with my family. I also enjoy going on walks in the woods. My Mommy and Daddy even let me off leash when we are in the woods and I do great. I just follow right behind them with the occasional stop to smell the deer droppings and take care of my own business.
I met the kitty that my Daddy got before me. We kind of like each other. Piper, the kitty, likes to run up to me, touch my nose, and then run away. So, I chase after him. I think we will be best buddies down the road.
I do really well at feeding times. I sit and wait until my dad, or mom says I can eat. The only thing I haven't got the hang of yet is potty training. I still have accidents every now and then. My Mommy and Daddy have been taking me out a half hour after eating and just about every hour of every day but I still can't get the hang of it. I know I will be potty trained soon though. I'm just a slow learner.
I signed up for my obedience classes at Petco. My first class is the 23rd. I am very excited to meet more puppies. I have met quite a few dogs in just a month. One big german shepard, and a lab came over and they were great play mates. I also met a boxer mix who looked just like me! He was a little more dominate than me and I didn't like him as much as the german shepard and lab.
I am up to date with all my shots. The vet said I will probably be around 50lbs when I'm fully grown. She also  said I don't have to come back until I'm 6 months so I can get neutered.

12/19/09 - Derek has been adotped!

- Howdy, my name is Derek.  Yup that's my name.  We came in yesterday and the 3 foster skin kids named my brothers.  My new FM said she was naming me.  Said I look like a Derek?  It's all good.  I arrived here with my brothers yesterday.  We have come a long way to get here.  Our new FM says that she loves puppies and we are awesome.  She was quite surprised that we are so well trained.  We do our duty on the newspaper that she has laid out.  We sleep through the night without a peep (bark or wimper).  We do very well when we are alone.  Oh ya, cats are cool.  I mean I really liked watching the two cats play in the yard and all but I was a little nervous to go play with them.  I am so cute.  Well that is what my FM keeps saying.  She says I look like a stocking stuffer lol.  Whatever that means.  I just know I would love to find a loving forever family to spend the holidays with and create many happy memories for years to come.  Is that you?  Okay my FM got lots of action pics of me because I just LOVE to run around.  She has posted some that were not blurry.  My photo shoot took the longest lol.  Oops.

- Clancie's boys will be here!!!  Clancie was a female fawn boxer who gave birth to these little guys and then didn't live through the day. Someone who rescues orphaned squirrels bottle fed them for their first few weeks and now they're the healthy guys you see here- with a hint of the "divil" in their eyes!     Aren't you completely in love??? I know, I am!! I just bet that little fawn is the ringleader!
