| UPDATE 3/30/10 - Hello again, Daisy here. Mom and me went to an A..gil..ity class. It was just to see what I thought of it and to see if I thought I might like to go again. WELL!!!! I will tell you, there were some handsome pups there. I got to meet them all. Mom showed me some other things there too. There was a thing called an A Frame. It was soooo.. much fun to RUUUUUNNNN up one side and then down the other. Then we went over to this other thing that was much much skinnier and even though I'm scared of heights we got to go a bit slower going over that one. I got really good at it. Then there were these tube/tunnel things... well I went through one of them, there are alot of treats inside these tunnels and somehow my favorite squeaky ball got in there so I had to go rescue it. I didn't feel it was necessary to go through the other ones. Actually the yellow ones were the only things I didn't try out. I did a definate 10 on all the jumps and there were about 5 of them and also
I
liked going through this thing that looked like a big colorful lifesaver.
I did so good that Mom and I decided that we would take a longer class that is going to start in a few weeks. I hope that alot of my new friends are there too. Mom says I am quite a social butterfly. It is true, I really am very likeable and I had a good time even though my Duke stayed home. By the time we went home I was quite tired and Mom says I did much better in the truck by myself. Course before we left we got to go around and say hi to all the kitties and other dogs that don't have forever homes. Mom got me a BIG bag of little tini tiny treats. She said they were just for me and Duke can't have any. I'm a special girl just like Mom is always saying to me. Can't wait to go on another adventure in a few weeks. UPDATE 3/2/10 - Okay, this Sunday should be very interesting. Ms. Daisy is going to try out agility. We will bring her favorite little yellow ball and see how she likes it. Daisy has been doing very well with her mild separation anxiety when she is away from her Duke. Mom and Duke were able to go out Saturday and little Daisy kept the homefront safe and sound. Duke was just so pleased to get to go out and about just he and Mom. Fair is fair, Daisy gets to go out with Mom all the time so this time was Duke's turn. She did very well. Updates on the Agility Class next time... UPDATE 2/15/10 - OUUUUUUU!!!! Yup Daisy Here. I am the most Boudiful White Boxer ever there was. My Mom tells me that every day. Me and my brother Duke have learned alot of really cool things since we arrived at our FOREVER HOME. I was kinda worried at first and used to cry alot but we do all kinds of fun things here. We wash our faces every night and we have lots and lots of noisy squeaky toys here. My favorites are 3 monkeys, my yellow squeaky ball and my pink squishy ball. Oh yes and yesterday me and Duke tried out marrow bones YUMMMM. Mom wanted me to gain just a little weight around the edges so she puts an extra dish of kibble in an old crate that she ended up leaving out just for this purpose. Duke, the wimp, is afraid to go in there but I'm not so I can go in and get an extra snack anytime I want to. So I have gained just a little weight so my ribs are not sticking out anymore. We also enjoy a spoonful of yogurt most every day and when Mom is making salad we get pieces o f cheese. Course mustn't forget the peanut butter dipped cookies. Those are Duke's favorite. We also enjoy getting our tummy's rubbed. We roll right over for that, auhhhh. Sometimes me and Duke get to sleep with Mom. She says that Duke is the most Handsome Brindle Boy and that I am the most Boudiful White Girl and that I am soooooo soft to pet. I am quite afraid to leave Duke by himself and of the truck (only when it is moving) so me and Mom have been practicing a little bit. Sometimes just me and her get to go and spend some time just us girls at church. I get very nervous because we have to drive there. Last night we ended up dropping Uncle Randy off and both me and Duke got to go to help drive. Sometimes just me and Mom will go pick up Auntie Sandy for a visit. I have learned that the truck is kinda like an elastic. It goes off to far off places that have people who give out munchkins then it always goes back home. I did much much better in the truck and am star ting to understand that these country folks like something called quiet. Hmmmm I've been learning that it is not a good thing to bark in the house... Me and Duke have definately settled right in here and love to relax on one of the dog beds or sometimes with Mom. I'm learning that it is okay if Mom pets Duke and that she still loves me too. Afterall, I am the most Boudiful White Boxer there ever was so how could she possibly resist? 12/27/09 - I was adopted today! 11/11/09 - I feel bad I don't have a TON to say to you, but these two little gems are just so easy going and do exactly what they are supposed to do that we don't have a ton of info. If I kept a journal of their daily activities it would say sleep, eat, drink, sleep, wag my bum for my mom to come home, go out and do the duties, sleep, wag my bum again when "the boys" come home, and once again when daddy gets home! Then sleep all night like good little pups! These guys are pretty easy to care for. That leaves me pretty speechless. We still have some road construction going on out front of our house, which is kinda confusing the pups and gets them a little distracted, but they are still good about going outside for business and coming back when called. I gave them both a bath the other night and they both shook so bad that they gave me a bath back!! lol...Duke forgot that he is about half my size and wouldnt get in the tub himself I had to pick him up ;) Needless to say, I wont do that again unless I have to.. I have decided maybe Foster Daddy can be in charge of baths! But I can't say enough how great and sweet these two are! As much as we want them to stay, we want them to have a great home for the rest of their lives!!!! 10/21/09 - well this freeeezing cold spurt we had last week was definatly not appreciated by the princess daisy and the king duke here at the foster home...They would run out the door take a quuuuick tinkle and RUN back inside lol...funny to watch them hurry hurry hurry! Now I want you to keep in mind what sweet loving good natured pups these guys are....But this week started out a little rough. Daisy had a little bit of a behavioral issue and decided that she was upset or angry with me and thought pee-ing indoors was ok...IN her defense my youngest son had surgery (yes he is fine thank you!) and I really do think she was either feeling my stress or feeling like I wasnt giving her enough time with all the other million things I had to do to prep the house. But now that he is back home and yesterday started out back to normal they were both back to their well behaved selves...I really do find it wierd that they are so intuitive into my feelings in such a short time in fosterland. Also both of them are a little messed up due to the water department working right outside the house (in their potty area) so they are confused as to where to do business as there are men and tractors and huge trucks everywhere. So maybe I am just a defensive mama but I think whatever flaws they have had in our home were all someone elses fault! We are thinking dukes eye infection is on-going and have called our vet to get some more cream and meds for that- so that should be under control and should be looking good soon! Also as I mentioned above we have had all those workers outfront - Duke barks like a big toughguy and when we take them outside he runs right over to everyone like the sweet pup that he is and gives everyone kisses! They are both such sweet doggies!!!! Get your applications in now for the dynamic duo!!!!!!! 10/6/09 - Well it has been another fine week for this loving pair ;) Daisy is a sweet little whiny girl lol- she wines if you are not giving her attention and gives you these sad eyes! Every night they both lay their heads on the end of our bed looking at us like "hey can we come up??" I have to admit I have given in a few times but daddy always lays the law down on the sleeping situation! We have a friend that has been stopping over with his female rhodisian ridgeback puppy- well she is a little over a year old and a whopping 110lbs. The dogs all get along great and run around the yard - they have a good old time together! So we do know that they can be around other dogs- I think the biggest thing is them having each other (duke and daisy). They would be lost without the other! We have noticed that Duke gets a little excited at times and does pee- I am not sure if he is just to excited with another dog or maybe its our friends voice when he is trying to get all the dogs outside as a group but he does have a little issue with that- like I said I am not sure if he is nervous or just to excited but we are trying to work on that and make him feel secure in his foster home! They are really good about being home during the day but I have also noticed that an 8 hour day is their max or there will be an accident in the house. So if you work an 8 hour shift (like most of us have to) and there is driving time, you would need to go home for a lunch break or whatnot to let them do their business. Typically I work 8:30-4:30 and that is about 10 min up the rd. and they are all right- I have gotten caught up at work and let them out at like 5:30 and someone did take a tinkle in the house. Duke has gotten waaaay better with his instinct to jump on someone when they first walk in the house and just greets them with a bum wiggle now ;) They walk outside with my husband with no leash and stay right with him. I however am not that brave and always put them on a leash- but know that once they know their owner they really do listen! They both have quite awesome personalities - sweet, loving, gentle, funny and are complete joys to have around- I can't even emphasize enough on how great they are with my boys! These two are the perfect pair!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 9/21/09 -the pups are doing great! We took them to the vets 2 weeks ago to get a clear bill of health :) Duke did have a pretty nasty eye infection that is now clearing up nicely and Dasiy had a UTI that has been treated as well!!! Both of them have settled in so great to our home. They have full run of our house all day by themselves and are always very well behaved. I have caught them on the couch little sneaks lol- They have excellent manners, never jump on the furniture (other then when they are by themselves lol..) never jump on people, are both completly housebroken, these two wont even potty in our backyard they make us take them up the road! We also have let them out in the backyard which is fenced in with very short fencing and they will not run off- they stay right with us all the time. We even have chickens nextdoor that mosey into our yard and these two even tho they are extremely curious they will dart over and when we say their names they run right back- Duke ran off yesterday or so we thought and then i heard him just coming to the front door rather then the back door- these two are just like having a couple more kids around lol- they are full of personality but are such a nice addition - I know they will make you so happy if you adopt them!!!!!! and I know it sounds like alot adopting two dogs but they are such a nice package deal you won't even notice that there are two!!!!! These two are EXCELLENT with kids- my 3 year old son is obsessed with them and they dont mind a bit to have him in their face. And they are actually quite protective- our family friend came over and was horsing around with my boys (boys will be boys lol) and Duke started barking and growling like "leave my boys alone" but right when I said "Duke its OK" he backed down - but he did keep circling "his boys" - I always let them out to potty before getting my sons from daycare and I always say I gotta get the "boys" and they get all excited :) These dogs would be perfect in a family setting and would also be perfect for an older couple or person who would just love a couple happy go lucky pups who are just grateful for a place to sleep and a face to kiss!!!!!!!! Pictures are coming soon I promise!!!!! 9/10/09 - Duke and Daisy have travelled the big trip this weekend! They did great on the transport and have already settled in nicely. I think them having each other has made it easier on them. Daisy is white with natural ears and a docked tail with a few spots and one large spot over one eye. She is smaller probably around 40lbs. She does have a muscular boxer build though. She follows Duke everywhere and always wants to be around us. She is sooo sweet. My youngest son hangs all over her and she doesn't even flinch. She knows basic commands, doesnt jump and has great manners on the leash. She also will stay with you without a leash on. She is also going to the vets on Thursday with her brother so I will know alot more about them. I will get pictures up as soon as possible as well. They are both great with kids of all ages, are not on any medications as of right now. I am thinking they might not be very good with cats- although I do not have any but just from the neighbors cat I don't think they have lived with cats before?? I will be sure to update again after the vets appointment! |
