UPDATAE 4/4/10 - Well Folks, It's been exactly one year to the day that Cody came home with us and became part of our family.
We are sooo blessed, happy and proud of our boy Cody. He is just awesome. Best thing we ever did was to adopt him, This was our first experience in adoption.

In the year that we've had him he has done so much, boating, Marina life, Dock greeter and Deputy, beach, the family camp, ice fishing, woods, family, friends and of course,,, counter surfing. He has fit into every aspect of our life so perfectly, just like he was meant for our family.
He is a very happy, loved and loving boy. Spoiled to the hilt. And loving every bit of it..

Today we celebrated "his" birthday.. Not knowing when it actually is, we chose this day because he was reborn into our family. How fitting being Easter and all..!

Again, I want to thank each and every person here at the SCBR for all the support, encouragment, advice and just plain conversation. You have helped make our first experience in adoption wonderful, when the time comes again.. this is where we will come.

In closing for the last update, we thank the family that once had Cody. He would not be as such an amazing dog  if it were not for the love, time and attention they once gave him.
Thanks again all......

UPDATE 11/22/09 - It's been 6 months since Cody has come into our lives. It feels like he has been with us forever. There really isn't anything more to say about him that hasn't already been said earlier. He is just as cuddley, snuggly, and playfull as he was when he first came..Only now, he knows this is HIS home and has taken his spot in our family, and our lives.. He is a happy boy...
It was a busy summer for him. every weekend, being the top dog at the Marina came with responsibities, visits, D dock protector and greeter, boat rides, faces to kiss, and laps to climb on to.... He loved it... I am sure he misses it.
Now that the season is over, It's all about snuggling up in front of the woodstove (he's not too fond of chilly weather), and loves hanging out with family..
We'll see this winter if we can get him out in the snow and doing some winter fun stuff... Not having him last winter, we're curious.
Life is Good ! ! !

UPDATE 7/30/09 - For some reason last months update is not posted... I hope this one makes it..
It's been 3 months now that we have had Cody. What a doll. He is soooo much part of us.. He is just as cuddley now as he was when we first saw him. Simply put, he just loves everyone. He is a magnet. everywhere we go with him, people are always drawn to him... We get so many compliments of him. We just can't believe he wound up in rescue and feel blessed to have him with us.
He has done great in every situation we put him in. He minds and behaves so well.. Happy Happy boy !
Of course he is still a boxer and has a since of fun in life. But he is just so loved by us, our adult kids and our grandchildren. He is such a good boy !
Minus the counter surfing..Of course ! ! But mummy here has learned not to leave food out for him to find or smell..! We learned this the hard way of course. Who would of guessed that he would find/smell pork chops fresh out of the freezer! After a  day at the Vet's, 10 days of antibiotics, and a diet of boneless chicken breasts and plain white rice, he is the vision of health. The Lymes scare that I spoke of on my last update was just that,,, a scare. I never had a dog that tested positive before... But we since learned that this is a common result with dogs that have either had lyme disease was treated and cured, or had the vaccine in the past.. So all is well and so is he... 78 lbs of pure lap dog boxer wiggles & kisses.
He is definatley the top dog on D dock at the marina.. and has many friends there, and at the lake. He wasn't too fond of his life jacket, but he seems to have adjusted well in wearing it. He loves the boat and loves the wind in his face as we cruise along. If you could only see bedtime for all of us on the boat... Cody in his own corner of the bed on his own pillow that he rests his head on or curls up against. It is quite comfy and he loves it..
I wish I could post pics of him so you could see his adventures.
Just about every weekend is a vacation for him and for us this summer.
A very BIG thank you to SCBR, the SCBR family for all the advice and chuckles, Debbie and John (foster mom and dad), and to Cody's prior family, they clearly spent time training and loving him.. He is the perfect fit for our family.. We love him dearly....

UPDATE 4/10/09 - Cody has done well right from the begining.. What a luv bug he is.. Every chance he gets to snuggle (which is most of the time),,, He takes.. He has his favorite places. When we're not home, it's on the overstuffed chair looking out the window. And when we are home watching t.v,,, It's on one of our laps on the couch. We just love'm.. He is soo cuddley.
We live out in the country so he has been very busy this week sniffing his way all over the property. We have lots of big windows in the house and he just loves looking out all of them at the birds... What a reaction when he sees a squirl,, apparently he doesn't like them..LOL ! ! !
One of our first stops with him after we picked him up was at the Marina that we have our boat... knowing that boxers don't swim, we figured we'd better find out if he'd even want to be on the docks.... Well he just got right down on those docks and loved meeting folks, and sniffing around. Other than marking his territory on one of the cleats....He handled it great.. Sat and looked around at the boats, people, and of course the seagulls... The next step now with that is once the boat is launched in the water,,, We'll see how he does "on the boat". And fit him to his new dock attire.... "His life jacket"..
We've taken him to the beach, (which he loved), walks around our area to meet the neighbors, and many car rides (his favorite)... And he has done just awesome. He really has fit in very well and we feel so blessed to have found him. He thrives just being around people, and we can't wait to see his complete personality once he has settled in completely.
In the last day or so we have already seen a comfort level within him,, he gets sooooo excited now and wants to play and run around a little... He gets quite playfull when one of us gets home from going out for a while.
We will be introducing him this weekend to our adult children and our grandkids..
My husband has been on vacation this week, so he's been around alot. Monday starts what will be the norm. But after what we have seen from Cody,,, He appears to have adjusted very well thus far..
I am siging us up for an obedience class in the next couple of weeks just to keep him intermixed with other dogs and people,, Lord knows, he does't need the class for obedience,, he minds very well.... With his history of cats, it makes us wonder what he will be like with small dogs. and our family is LOADED with small, cat looking dogs..lol.. Our family gathering always include people bringing their dogs..
So I  just think it will be good all around to mix it up a little for him. See how he does with it..
As I close, We are out on the deck in this beautiful Friday morning sun... And Cody is basking in the sun next to me with an occ. tail wag as I peek down at him...

4/4/09 - Cody just went home with his forever family!

3/8/09
- Cody is a handsome man.  I say he is around 5-6 years old.  He has his full tail, and boy let me tell you, it wags and hits everything.  He is so friendly and loves to give kisses.  He came right into the house and licked both our faces and jumped on the couch right into my husbands lap.  He was originally adopted from SCBR in November 2005 (http://www.secondch anceboxer. com/Dogs2005/ Cody.html).  He was returned because they bought a kitten and lets just say, they didn't get along so Cody got the boot.  He is up to date on everything.  He just ate supper and is now ouside in the back yard sniffing things out.  I have attached pictures so you can see how handsome he is and how long his tail is.
