UPDATE 4/14/10 - Hard to believe it's been nearly 6 months since Ciara came to live with us.  She is truly a part of our family, and a wonderful addition at that.  We can't imagine being without her!!!!!!!!!!!

Due to the astronomical amounts of snow this area had Ciara put on a little bit of weight, but now that spring time is here and she can run around like the nut that she is, she's slimmed down nicely.  Talking about the snow, we had so much snow that she had a hard time going outside-so- I made trails all throughout the back yard and she would run around them burning off her excess energy.  It was a funny sight!!  We also learned that she can leap up in the air like a deer, that was funny too.

We have Ciara enrolled in Intermediate Obedience class.  She is highly motivated by treats and does faily well.  She still pulls me when we walk on leash and is very protective so I've learned NOT to let anyone pet her when it's just she and I alone.  Ciara has gotten much better with my brother in-law.  He's learned that she does not like ball caps and she's learned that he carries treats with him when he comes to visit.  They'll become good pals soon.

We'll be moving soon.  Leaving surburbia for the country life. We have a big back yard now but the new house has even more land for her to run.

Our older dog Misty has "doggy" dementia.  She now watches how Ciara comes and goes from the house because she's fogotten what door to come in.  She has cataracs as well.  I think Misty would be really lost and her health decline faster if it weren't for Ciara.

UPDATE 1/18/10 - It's been nearly three months since Ciara has come to live here.  My how time flies when you're having fun.
Ciara continues to be a joy to have. She and our Bichon Misty get a long fine, in fact Ciara waits at the door for Misty to go out in the morning.  Now Tiger is another story but he's coming along.  I think that he's just intimated by her size.  Sixty pounds vs ten, I think I would be too  :) We have had some destructive behavior though, nothing too major but nonetheless destructive. We completed two weeks of obedience training so far and Ciara is doing  well.  She is very treat motivated which the trainer said is good.  Once this session is over I will go on to the next.  Our only other issue is her aggression towards Pauls one brother.  He is a big teddy bear but for some reason Ciara goes after him.  The trainer believes that it may be bc someone in her life resembling Rob may not have treated her well.  So we have two issues to work on.
Stay tuned for more updates....

UPDATE 12/12/09 - It's hard to believe that Ciara has been with us for nearly two months.  She fit in real well with our family.
Ciara continues to be a joy.  She has such a silly personality, sillier as the days go on I think.  She is a love bug but we certainly have lot's of love, hugs, and kisses to fill her heart with.
We found out that she has allergies so she's eating special food now and eats every bite of it where before when we fed her any old brand she would scratch her face and, when you pet her, her skin would crawl.  The vet also said to use a "dog" shampoo and not Baby shampoo like I had been.
Ciara, Misty, and our 6 year old granddaughter went and saw Santa at Petsmart today.  Can you take a guess who was afraid?  Yes, Ciara!  But I'm sure she will still get plenty of toys under the tree.  (Lexie was a close second  :)   )
We start training sessions this Sunday.  I really need to work with her on jumping when we come home and not to pull on the leash.  57 pounds of muscle is alot coming at you or pulling you.
I hope to be able to attach several pictures to this update for you all to enjoy.(looks like i'll have to put them on yahoo group page)
Ciara is the best and we look forward to adopting her another sister in the future.
  Happy Holidays everyone!!

UPDATE 11/14/09 - In case you didn't know I was adopted on my forever home mom's birthday.  What a present huh?
I love it here.  I have an older canine sister of the Bichon type and an older feline brother.  Misty and I are great pals, Tiger lets me know that HE'S the king of the house.
Then there's the human sister Lexie.  She loves to run with me, play games like catch and hide and go seek.  She gives me lot's of kisses and hugs too.  My forever mom and dad are pleased with my behavior, only two accidents-not bad.  They took me for my first vet visit.  I got the canine influenza vaccine and Bordetella.  Misty had to go the next week for her Bordetella-haha!  The vet said I'm a healty girl but need to eat a little more.  I'm 54 pounds.  So my mom and dad try to feed me 4.5 cups of food a day.  I like to pick all day.
We go for long walks every night and I get at least 30 minutes of hard playing time too.  Sometimes my human brother Mark comes over and we rough house but Mom makes us go outside.  Sometimes we wrestle, but mostly tug-of-war, and catch.
I have to go to obedience class-a fancy word for listening-soon.  I have to work on not jumping on people when I'm excited to see them-I just can't help it- I love visitors, walking better on a leash and just being a proper girl.
Well that's all for now.  Happy Thanksgiving  ;)
Ciara

10/29/09 - I was adopted today!

10/12/09-
Ciara and her buddy Beans are the best of friends.  They played ball outside today while my yard was being cut for (hopefully the last time this year) and she and Beans are now green!  They look like little martians- Ciara with her green toes, and Beans with his green feet, legs, and side. Its too funny!!  Ciara was running around the riding mower like it was playing with her- throwing leaves and grass at her- lol!  I captured a picture today of her and Beans snug as bugs in the recliner. It is too funny to look at. She is on the bottom and he is on top of sorts, sleeping. She looks smooshed!  Hey maybe you're looking for two dogs??? Ciara and Beans would make a great pair lol!  She is resting now from all that wild playing in the yard chasing the mower and running with the ball.  I swear she can jump straight up in the air from a stand still position, she must have springs in her toes  lol!  More to come on little miss green toes and hopefully some new pics!

10/11/09-
Ciara is all healed up and jumping like a spring board off the deck and through the yard just like nothing happened (her spay).  She is a big puppy of a boxer very playful and very loveable. I cant sit down without her getting in my lap or making room on the couch next to me or my daughter.  It's funny, she will sit her butt on the edge of the couch until you give in and make room for her.  She is doing well with being crated. She has been going through a chewing stage and I have been crating her at night and when I leave the house. (for her tummy's protection)  She loves her fellow foster mate Beans they play together so wonderfully and she doesn't mind that he cheats by grabbing her leg out from under her LOL!  She gets along with everyone here and believe me that is crazy with her and Beans there are 7! Yes, I said 7 dogs in my house. So if your ready for some playful lovins, Ciara is your girl!

10/1/09-
Ciara went through her spay with flying colors!  Yeah!!  She is home and in her crate relaxing, oh yeah just what the dr ordered  lol!  We plan on keeping her quiet for the next couple of days to let her stitches heal a bit then go from there on activities an so forth.  Ciara was a love bug for the doctor and all the techs at the vets office, she barked at a cat but didn't really show much interest in it.  I think it was the crate the cat was in, you know those tiny veri kennels.  They disturbed her a little and she voiced her opinion about it lol.  Well I am gonna see if she has to go potty must walk her cause she flys off the porch when let loose in the back yard.  So bye for now and you'll definitely be hearing more from miss Ciara!

9/23/09-
Ciara has a well-check vet visit on the 29th and then will be scheduled for her spay. She is doing great! I have introduced her to the pack here outside and she is very playful with them.  I am a little leary of in the house intros since to she is not spayed yet and I do have 3 females here but... little by little.  She is eating and drinking good and seems to be housebroken just fine.   She loves attention and really has taken a liking to Ice the big dope here  lol  (He is my 78 lb white boxer they are good friends already)  More to come after the vet visit!

9/20/09
- Well, I picked Ciara up in NH and she is a love bug.  Her owner had to give her up due to divorce and housing situation. It was a sad departure for the family and Ciara  She is settling in nicely getting used to my pack of 5 and will be going in soon to be spayed.  I will update soon and send in pics
