| 11/19/09 - To anyone who is thinking of fostering Augie...As liz says...his moving has nothing to do with him. He is very calm and easy going..we love him....he has not touched anything that isnt a dog toy..he does not jump up on guests. he will do a little counter surfing ...but responds immediatly to reprimand. He will sit and stay on command for a treat.
he had only 2 accidents in the house...I believe he is fully house trained ...he just needs a clear que established. We take him out often and repeat Doo business until ...he does..then praise. On day 2 we figured out that he needs to get comfortable with crating, so we only feed him in the crate...door open...and throw very yummy treat in there for him to go in, get it and be able to come right out..this is working...he crates for 8 hours at night ...with only a 10minute crying time...and then he is good. Augie is going to make the best boxer companion , he is full of love and has not shown an once of any aggression...he does not even approach the fence, when my neighbors yapper is going to town. he probably has little dog experience...and any he has had ...has been possibly with a dominant dog hurting him...but thats just my opinion. Forgot to say he is great on the leash...no pulling he stays right by your side. 11/15/09 - Augie arrived today all wiggles, he is a very tall and a very good looking young boxer. He seems very calm and so far he is enjoying playing with my son and eating 3 squares and lots of treats..The crate is not his favorite place ...but we will do our best to make it a safe haven with lots of yummy treats to encourage him. He is great on the leash...and we have discovered that he will sit on command and stay for a treat. Its only day one...so lets see what a couple of days will uncover with this guy...he may have more training under his belt that only time will discover......more as I get to know him |
